No difference for me when working out. 45 min and lost 21-22% with downloaded music + cellular+ gps.

In standby I lost around 2.1% today vs 2.5% with 7.0.2

Put it off the charger yesterday 10:30 pm and used it now till 8 pm and I have 21% left. Used it for notifications and a 50 min Outdoor Walk (with phone) + 2 indoor swim workouts (1x 30 min and 1x 20 min)

For those wondering about S6 40mm battery performance, here's my two cents.

I have been using a S3 38mm for about 2 years. The battery on that was excellent. At the end of a day, I would typically have 60-70% of battery left. I would often only charge it after 2 days, and it felt like it could probably survive up to 3 days at a push.

I briefly had an S4 40mm, but returned it due to what I considered very poor battery life (it seemed to struggle to even last a day from charging overnight).

I have been using an S6 40mm for 2 days now. So far the battery performance has been decent. Certainly a whole lot better than the S4. I charge to 100% before I go to bed and then wear it for sleep tracking. In the morning the battery was at 91%. After a whole day (and almost 3 hours of usage), it was at 48%.

Unscientific results here:

AW6 Ti (large)
Simple watch face - California - black background, off white dial/hands
2 walking workouts/day ~40 min each while listening to audiobooks/radio via cellular / gps

I put the watch on the charger for an hour or so before bed (100% charge) - sleep, workout 1, workout 2, back on charger at night usually has 15-20% battery left.

Series 6 44 mm, Nike Hybrid watch face with 5 complications on it, all watch features on, sleep in watch too.

Usage: 3 Hours, 56 Minutes
Standby: 1 Day, 6 Hours

Battery Grapher app shows:

Average % Lost per hour: 2.8%

For fun I turned off the AOD and it increases battery life quite a bit. AOD is neat but it’s fairly pointless IMO. If your wrist is down you can’t see the watch face anyway.
AOD is so it can look like a watch, not some black slab on a bracelet.

That's an interesting point of view - so AOD is for other people to realize what you have on is a watch? Generally you dont look at the watchface if its turned away from you. It's a fairly big hit to battery life and really serves no purpose. I guess if I'm going to a party (in a year from now..covid) I might turn it on I guess. Working from home 5 days a week? Probably keep it off.

Yeah, AW with its myriad of case materials and bands is as much as a fashion accessory as it is functional.

Anyone using this? With that my AW6 needs around 2h like my S5. Kinda sucks because it was expensive.

I just noticed that my AW6 drains more battery when I'm at home for a full day compared when I go away.

Why is that?

EDIT:// This is not a problem for me because I still can manage 30-36 h on one charge when home but it's just a peculiar thing I've noticed.

Added more details on charging speed results in the first post. The latest test resulted in 30% in 30 minutes, slower than I had hoped.
what do you think charging speeds against Apple Watch se.
does Apple Watch 6 charges too fast compared to Apple Watch se?

I’ve never tested the SE. If Apple hasn’t made any claims of faster charging on it then I would expect it is the same as the Series 5.

which one do I have to choose? :) 6 or se ? blood oxygen not important for me. I. think most important factor is battery life between them.

Personally, I would go for the the Series 6 but it really depends on your use case. For me, I want to have the latest in HR sensing, best battery life, Always on Display and fast charging (because I wear my watch 24/7).

With the Series 6, I can get away with just charging while getting ready in the morning / showering so it meets my needs.

I would suggest looking at the difference in price ($150?), divide by 365 or 730 (number of days you will own the watch) and see if the benefit is worth it relative the improved features of the Series 6.

I agree about the morning charge - if you are lowish on battery life that 45 mins or so charge whilst I shower , have a coffee etc is enough to see me through my working day.

I have SS 4 LTE 44mm with 7.0.2 installed. I hate carrying my phone and need to be able to call or message when I'm running especially, if I get injured, dont feel well. or hurt on my runs. Nice to know I can call someone. 7.0.2 is the best working version I've seen on this watch; I don't think I'll ever upgrade my waych version again.

I pretty much have everything disabled/background refresh off on my watch except, messeging, calls, workout, activity, and music. My last run was about 3:30 minutes and I had 39% battery life left. My watch is getting old too, 90% left on my battery.

I wont be upgrading my watch 4 yet waiting to hear about Watch 7. I dont think apple watch 6 is worth the upgrade unless, I break my watch.

Series 6, AOD off. Usually 25-30% battery after two days so I only need to charge-up every other night.

AOD may be important for a lot of people but, when walking home from the metro station late at night, I don't need a "come mug me" signal beaming from my wrist. :)

Got the Satechi Wireless Pad and oh Boy. Started charging with 54% at 8:08 pm. Now at 9:29 pm the watch is at 100%. 1:20h for 46%???? What do I do wrong ?

(I just charged the AW!)

In general, the last 5% takes a long time and doesn’t really have much impact on overall battery life. Next time, check to see how long it takes to get to 90% or 95%.

I assume that this is a Series 6? As far as I know, any Apple Watch charging puck should get the slight battery charging speed improvement.

it would still be over an hour for 90%. I know it charges slowly after 80% but there was no fast charging before that. Will return it not just because of the speed but the LED are so bright i can't sleep with that.

I have the 40mm Apple Watch 6. I have AOD on. I have the blood oxygen tracker on in the bg. I didn't turn on noise detection or hand washing. I use the watch every night for sleep tracking.

My battery had 14% left when I took this screenshot. I did a short workout each day. Apart from that, normal use.

Is that in-line with what others are getting?
