I was across the street/highway from the local Apple Store but, didn't make an attempt to stop by... Will try again tomorrow

I'm planning to line up tomorrow and Sunday just because I'm frustrated and yet still hopeful. The Pencil is the entire reason I bought an iPad Pro. :/

Same for me - it's just a big ipad without it. I understand supply constraints which can cause this from not being there but I think it's rather ridiculous. I'm going blame production issuues.

No keyboard or pencil at my local Apple store this morning when they opened.

Glad it is only a 15 minute drive, I'll check again on Monday.

Would people mind listing the store(s) where they either find or don't find stock? It would make the thread a lot more useful for everyone who is trying to discern the flow and geographic focus of these early shipments.

As of 10:30 AM Saturday, no pencils at:
Apple Store Tampa, FL
Apple Store Brandon, FL

They keep advising to not call or walk into the store and instead check the website for the store pickup option. The salespeople don't seem to realize that the option has been removed completely from the Pencil product page at this time.

Here in northeast Ohio, fairlawn doesn't have keyboards or pencils. They told me they didn't get any pencils yet and sold out of keyboards quickly.

I'm done wild goose chasing. I will just wait for mine to come as it shows it can come as early as this Thursday.

Just another example of how messed up this launch is. Units keep appearing in stores -- we have people confirming it -- without the employees being aware of it and they don't want to even check the stock. There is no way to check stock online right now, and every time I've asked about it they've acted annoyed, like I'm not following some mysterious Pencil Protocol.

Let's just hope that someone really vocal in the media tries to get one. Bad press will do it.

I'm not calling the clueless or braving mall crowds and parking for nothing.

It's not that big of a deal, but hey, it's annoying as hell. :D

Same. I'm not going to hunt the thing down anymore. I'm in the same delivery window as you - my delivery window begins this Thursday. Good luck to everyone tracking one down!

Best Buy and Apple local stores are close, believe me I would not be tracking around looking for it and the keyboard (which the smarter side of my brain is telling me the latter ain't worth the price anyway).

Ok, here's the problem as I see it.

What's annoying, is them shipping these to stores (and it seems like quite a few), yet you couldn't get it with your iPad purchase, and they have the 5 week delivery. It's a retail logistics problem.

Now, the 5 weeks is probably very conservative, but it's making people waste time, and just because your estimates are super conservative, it's still inaccurate.

HE BOUGHT 2 EVERYONE GET HIM!

Seriuosly though, I expected that a lot of people would want two. I have 2 pens for my Surface Pro 1 (not two of the same pen, but it's the same idea). Obviously Apple had no idea how much people wanted these. Or they knew exactly and are messing with us to generate buzz.

Called both stores in SLC, UT. No Pencils, didn't ask about keyboards.
Darn, I was going to call them today... I want the pencil. lol

Just got my Pencil out of sheer luck. The store was the Philadelphia center city store. Here's what I learned:

- When you call a store number from the website, you reach a call center, not a store. Sometimes, depending who you get, they'll call the store directly and can check stock. But if they don't call the store, then they don't know if there's stock or not.
- The reason they don't know is because they seem to use the same system we have, which is the checkout system on the site. It only lists pencils as shipping in a few weeks, even when they're in stock. Employees in the store will also recommend that you check the site, not knowing this detail.
- Stores don't always get shipments in before the store opens. I got mine at 11:30 AM, and the guy said they had just come off the truck literally 5 minutes beforehand.

So if you really want a pencil, just keep checking your local store at various times during the morning.

Also, the employee was very skeptical that they would have them, and had no idea that they even received any from shipments. She was as surprised as I was when she saw it was in stock!

Arrowhead Mall, Glendale, AZ - 10am opening, none in stock.

He did say they get blind shipments and that they usually don't know until 8am that morning.

Nice! Good for you. I've seen you in all of the same "I want a d@*n Apple Pencil BAD" threads that I've been posting in. Glad you got one.

I'm just going to wait now for mine to ship. My delivery window begins this Thursday. I live an hour and a half away from the nearest store so that adds an extra pain to just hoping they have some in.

Now let us know how you like it!

Thanks! Sorry to hear you're so far from a store. You'll get one soon, I'm sure!

I'll post some updates soon. Also, my girlfriend and I are going to make a video comparing it to our Cintiq, and give our opinions. I'll post that once it's done :)

That'd be great! I've been illustrating with Wacom Intuos tablets and Cintiqs for over 10 years. That's kind of "why" I got the iPad Pro so I'd be EXTREMELY interested in seeing that!

Here in Southeast Michigan...Nothing at Somerset Collection in Troy, Best Buy Southfield, Best Buy Allen Park, Staples Allen Park, Best Buy Southland Taylor....really frustrating! I am an architect and really looked forward to the Pencil! At the Apple Store at Somerset the associate told me no deliveries on Monday so I will try again Tuesday.

I'm wondering if it would make sense to assume that the stock for retail would start to show up at the same time as the earliest online orders, which would mean the end of next week. I mean, that date must have been the earliest Apple could get them to customers, why wouldn't it also be the earliest date they could get them to stores?

I just talked to an in-store rep who said that 5 came in yesterday, but were sold immediately. Similar story to what we've been hearing. His impression was that it would ramp up soon, and in-stock stocks would be abundant by the end of Nov.
