There was one Apple Pencil sitting on the shelf at the Upper West Side store here in NYC around 8:30. No keyboards, which is what I had gone in for.
For those waiting, it's really nice. You'll be happy when you get it.
I just got home. Staples shipped me an empty box with a packing slip. 
I checked and at least they didn't charge my credit card. I'm guessing someone had prepared the box at the warehouse and forgot not to ship it out.
Hopefully the Apple Stores in Portland or Tigard have them tomorrow.

I got my Pencil yesterday in San Luis Obispo. They received a shipment of a single Pencil. Today, I had to exchange something else at the store, and I saw a single Pencil box on the shelf. I would say just stop by at lunch or on the way home, you might get lucky.
Any rumblings about when third party retailers will start stocking the pencil? It really stinks living in north central Florida with no convenient Apple stores to stalk, and without any in store pickup option, driving 2 hours is definitely out of the question.
We're both in Chicago, so that makes sense. I wonder how many empty boxes they shipped out. I got the delay notice yesterday and was surprised to get the delivery notice from UPS today.
Anyway, I'm off to Portland for the weekend. A bonus is that I'm picking up my iPad Pro while there. Maybe they'll have some Pencils.
I'm going to scout the Danbury location tomorrow morning. Has anyone had any luck over there?

Beavercreek is a city, Centerville is a city (and there are many more) . . . . they are all cities that are around Dayton, Ohio. FYI - Cities are proper nouns and begin with capital letters.
Most have their own fire departments, police departments and government structure. Their residents do not pay taxes to Dayton.
If you live in Dayton or any of the surrounding cities, you should know that.
Including all of the surrounding cities as part of Dayton is almost as ridiculous as telling people who land at the airport in Kentucky that they are in Cincinnati.
So I'm at an impasse should I wait in line tomorrow morning for the Apple Pencil at the closets store... or should I order online and wait until January?

i dont know what city you are in, but here in LA being first at the door bears no fruit, unless the truck delivered at the close of business the night before (not likely). perhaps hit them up midday after the dayside truck has dropped by, or later in the evening if the truck stopped by around 4-5ish.

Agreed about the evening timing.
I got super lucky and my friend just happened to have a Genius Bar appt at the Sherman oaks store at like 7pm. He knew I was looking for a pencil and just asked at the right time. They had to get it from the back. So he bought one for me. It was their last one.
So hopefully this helps my LA friends. I'm confident that supplies will only get better each day. Once they do then the resellers that are taking all the pencils will have to return them only leading to an even more abundant supply at stores.
Best Buy is letting you do stock check on Pencil and Keyboard now. Still none near me yet.

I'm in UT, last time I called in the evening around 7-7:30pm they said they had no pencils, then told me to call in the morning a little after opening.

I might be going to the Murray store as that's only 32-35 miles from me. I'm not sure what time since Apple is all over the place with estimates and junk.
