Schaumburg, IL Best Buy had Pencils available briefly for in-store pickup. Gone now but I ordered one.

edit: seems to be coming and going for that store. no others in the Chicago area are showing up for now tho.
 
I find it odd that Best Buy has in store pick up... But  hasn't officially made it available just yet. I won't be driving just to find that they are no longer available... I'll have to wait until someone acknowledge that they have them available at my nearest store.

Good Morning Tim,

I ordered the pencil on 3AM of November 11. At the time of writing, my pencil is still in the "processing" phase of shipment. My ETA is (yesterday) Nov 19 - Nov 27.

I have no estimated ship date & Apple support is unable to provide further information regarding my shipment.

Apple is currently selling the Pencil at physical stores to walk in customers.
I am also seeing 3rd party retailers (Best Buy) sell the pencil in their stores. Through their online inventory system, I can actually locate an Apple Pencil at a physical Best Buy store. Something I cannot do with Apple’s website at this time.

I am confused how I ordered direct from Apple, yet my order is not being processed, but sales through other channels are being filled.

Was I in error waking up at 3AM to place my order on November 11?

Should I play Apple Pencil Lotto and visit my local Apple stores on a daily basis?

Should I continue to request help though online support and by calling the support phone number? Neither of these methods have been able to provide further help or info regarding my order.

Any further information or help is greatly appreciated.

I managed to get an order in for one with free shipping for Tuesday delivery on best buy. Given the in and out stock status, I still think there's a high probability it gets cancelled or delayed but I shall see...

You will probably receive correspondence from an Apple online executive relations person. I emailed Tim about my lackluster Apple Pencil shopping experience, and I received a phone call a couple of days later from an Apple employee at their Austin TX campus. They basically just apologized and offered to track my order which I can do on my own. I mostly just sent an email to express to them my dissatisfaction with the launch.
 
Went to bestbuy on Fry Rd. in Katy Tx. Even though website didn't show them in stock yet, they looked it up and had them in stock. They did have to search for them and found them tucked away in the back of the store. Bought one and shiny new pro to go with it.

I know it won't make a difference... But as a small business owner I value feedback from customers.
My customers are much more vital to me than any one customer to Apple. That said, I question the motive behind taking online orders and filling orders through other channels.

Is it really a logistics issue?
(Puts on tin foil hat) Or is Apple doing this on purpose to promote in store sales? Is there a Manager/VP who is highly incentivized to show stores sell better than online site?
I feel like there was an episode of the office much like this...
 
Chicago Peeps: about 12 left at Michigan Ave  store as of 10:46 am!
Of course Michigan Avenue gets them in the day I'm on a flight out west. :rolleyes:

I will be checking the Valley Fair location in the South Bay at around 11. I will update on that so I would appreciate it if anyone that goes to Oakridge or the Apple company store post their findings.
 
Ordered two on Best Buy and one already shipping, other one backordered. I CANNOT believe Best Buy is shipping it to me before my Apple order at midnight!

Tempted to order but it sounds odd one was backordered. When did you order the one that shipped?

Well, my order has moved to 'Status: Preparing your item for shipping' and can't be cancelled so I guess this will actually work out. Pretty crazy.

Getting much better luck on BestBuy's site then Apple's own site. Ordered it and within one hour already had shipping confirmation and tracking number.
 
The Best Buy in Evanston is showing in-store stock and I called to confirm. Placed my in store pickup order but haven't received the pick-up confirmation yet. I'm excited, hope this all works!

EDIT: READY TO PICK UP !!!! I'm not taking any chances, driving over during lunch.

Yeah BB is preparing to ship mine now that I ordered a half hour ago. During that time it showed up for in store pick up but I could not get that one to got through. Now no longer available do to high demand Going to call Apple Store in Kenwood again soon. If no luck I'll just wait until Tuesday and then cancel my order with Apple. Which still has no movement on delivery. It's still Dec 18-24.
 
FOR DFW people- Grapevine store has a lot- like 10- but I think people are ordering them online fast because they brought 3 to the counter when I checked out. Buy it for pickup QUICK
