WOOT. Finally got my Apple Pencil. Thank You Best Buy Florence, KY. I also should receive one Monday or Tuesday from BB. Off to cancel my Dec 18-24th on from Apple.

FYI stopped in the Apple store in Kenwood, Cincinnati, OH store. No Pencils or Keyboards. The specialist I talked to was surprised/didn't know about the new Apple watch charging stand from Apple that was on the self. I asked if they had any Pencils. He said no and ask some one who seem to be higher up the food chain as she walked by. She said no and they only got a few in the other day. She said the next shipment maybe on Tuesday. I said I didn't need one since I just picked my up from Best Buy. That surprised both of them that Best Buy had them. LOL

Glad you got one from them! i randomly decided to check in with them while i was out running around, they told me on the phone the night before they wouldnt have them for 4 weeks. but i saw on here alot of other best buys got some so i asked. the kid said they had some forsure but werent supposed to sell them yet, so i had them get a manager to ask them if it was something they could look past, it took some convincing but i left with one on friday night! super pumped

Here is my story from Shanghai.

Each morning we call each store at 10am when they open here in China only to be told they have no stock.

I work very close to one store and l store and I pop in personally around 10:30am - every day now since launch. I ask them to do a stock check and they tell me they have no stock but on 4 occasions they can see one of the other stores have stock.

I ring the other store that has stock to confirm before making the trip - that store again initially deny they have stock. When I say I am in another Apple Store and can see the stock on the Apple Store reps device and pass the phone to the rep so can speak to the Apple rep standing by me - all of a sudden have stock, but they refuse to put aside for me.

I get in a taxi to go to that store and they are out of stock in the 20 minutes it takes me to get there. This has happened 4 times now costing me more that the cost of the pencil in taxis.

When I express my disappointment to the staff member one m told me they prioritize the pencil and keyboard to new iPad Pro purchasers if they have stock. I ask what about people like me who brought on launch day, and and they smile and say it's a lottery, which only further annoys, as it doesn't need to be a lottery. When I elevate this to the manager they deny they hold back for new purchasers, but on one occasion an apple pencil appeared and the manager said they must have had stock at the time that person came in.

This launch is shameful Apple. Really really shameful, so today I returned my iPad Pro.

I feel for you. The Store staff has become rude and indifferent towards enquirers about the Pencil and none of them cared to check the inventory. What's with this a****** attitude? I'm perfectly okay if Apple prioritise online orders over walk in orders. Damn it I bought the iPad Pro in the store! It's BS if they say they want to sell the pencil to people buying iPP there. What is my priority?

I have until next Sunday to return my iPad Pro (I'm in Hong Kong, there's no holiday extended return period here). I will definitely do that if the physical stores still keep on selling the Pencil to scalpers this coming week. What a shame on Apple.

Talking about scalpers, I found some listing online that offer the pencil as low as $130. Not sure if legit or not.

I went into the Apple Store in Turin on friday morning. After digesting all the material on the forum, I was 80% sure that I would buy an IPP IF they had the pencil.

As fate would have it, they had two [!] pencils arrive that morning. I bought the second one, plus 128 LTE space gray. So, I immagine that they are again out of stock.

As an aside, there were no more keyboards... which is material for a different thread. But I'll put it here anyways ... I personally did not like the layout of the apple keyboard and as I practiced with the demo, I had difficulty writing two lines without typos. There is too much space between the keys with respect to the keyboards on the "real" computers and after fifteen years of dedicated mac use, it was a bit too awkward for my muscle memory. Anyways, I was going to buy it. But when it was time to checkout, the guy told me they didn't have any!

So, I had a look at the logitec Keyboard... we took it out of the box, went back down to the demo floor, put an IPP in it, and I was immediately hooked... the Keyboard is heavy as a brick, but backlit, and has all of the shortcut keys (top bar) that adds a level of keyboard navigation that makes this machine almost exactly as user speedy as my rMBP. It types as well as any Mac keyboard. The case adds a level of wrap around protection that makes me a little bit more comfortable about keeping the machine pristine during my 'refund' period.

Back to the pencil... my 2cents: it is absolutely necessary if you want to appreciate the potential of the IPP...
Why so difficult to find? Usually these kinds of products are rolled out in four or five principal markets... the IPP showed up in something like 20 countries at once, Italy included (beati noi) meaning the stock wasn't concentrated in North America...

I've had similar experience in the US also. I mentioned to a Specialist that Best Buy got a bunch and she gave me this flippant remark: well, how about you buy it from there then? It was infuriating to say the least.

I think we should now all sit back and relax and forget about the god damn Pencil.

Some people are picking up more than one. And  is not providing many in stock. I picked up one yesterday... Shoulda picked up two. But I actually sold one today for $200. I've never been the kind of person to sell to make a profit. But the way  has poorly handled this... I figured why not.
I got two Smart keyboard covers on order. The first one I'm keeping the second keyboard will be for sale. To one of my co workers or family members. If they have not gotten theirs.

I actually seen a Smart Keyboard when I picked up the  Pencil the other day. Decided not to buy it.

I'm leaning toward buying one now after using the Microsoft Foldable keyboard, I can't get past the odd key layout. But the Logitech CREATE does seem like a better buy compared to the Smart Keyboard though.

I've had both. The Logitech went back. It's so bulky that it defies the point of the iPad pro. It reminds me of my old TC1100.

i'm getting different responses from best buy. One might say they had a few earlier. Another will say not until next next week. I'm on the hunt this week. Gotta have one before Thanksgiving. I like the portability of the smart keyboard. The feel of key's are not bad to me. I wish they were backlit. I figured i would use the on screen keyboard when it's dark. I already have a Non Apple back cover ready for the keyboard. That i purchased from amazon.

Won't yhe screen illuminate the keyboard enough just by proximity?

Anyone else order a Apple Smart Keyboard from Staples ? I noticed that they are currently out of stock now. When I first put in my order on Saturday. It said deliver by December 8. Then I received an email that had a expected delivery date of the 1st of December. Apple online store still has my order shipping December 15th - 21st.

The longer it takes for me to get my hands on a Smart Keyboard, the less likely I want one. This whole goose chase is coming to an end for me. I'm just glad I finally got a pencil.

I think I finally figured out why the  Pencil is so damn hard to find...
..it must be a manufacturing nightmare!

Posted same story in other thread:

I was sure Best Buy was not really working as my order was preparing for shipping for 2 days, but it just shipped. So it seems that's working. Apple order still not budging.

I initially looked for a store with stock, started the process of purchasing for pickup and at the last minute, switched to shipping. ( decided it was nuts to drive two hours for a gadget ) Of course, after I ordered I realized I was not going to get the one in the store and now was stuck in the BB online queue. ( filled with regret ) But, it worked out. It will be here tomorrow.

Anyone from the Edmonton Region (Canada) able to find an Apple pencil in store? Any store (Best buy, Staples, Apple Store, etc)
