Went to Apple store this morning in Raleigh, NC. Asked if they had a pencil in stock, they had just one! Bought it and it is quite awesome. I just wish there was a nice solution for toting it around with the iPad. Also considering the name "Pencil" an eraser mode on the back would have been nice...

The cap connection is also a bit looser than I thought it would be. It isn't going to fall off by itself because of the magnets, but if it pushes up against something in your bag it is going to disconnect.

I went to the fifth Avenue store who had pencils earlier in the day all gone. Contrary to the skeptics here they do get shipments sporadically. After all this is the flagship store in the world I was able to get a keyboard though so I'll try that and see if I like it as opposed to the Logitech.

The Kingstreet store in Charleston, SC had none and said they were expecting some in a week. They did however have some nice giveaway pencils sitting on the iPad Pro demo desks ;)

I'm glad you got one! I've checked retail 4x in the past week and I'm tired of getting the same responses. "Blind shipments, no stock, why don't you check store inventory online".

Maybe if I'm lucky, stupid rainbow unicorn magical Pencil will arrive on the 20th in my 20th-30th window haha. :)

I had the identical experience at Fifth Avenue in NYC. Just missed the pencil and got the keyboard. Tried to call other NYC stores to check live inventory, but you basically get to a central call center that echos exactly what is on the web (e.g., nothing available in-store and they act as if they never have gotten any). I argued that this isn't accurate since I held in my hand the keyboard, which actually also shows as non-existent in the channel.

I finally got to someone live at Soho who was kind enough to check and the only location around the area with the pencils is Garden State Mall in Paramus. I cannot get there, so if one of you is lucky enough to be nearby and can race over, maybe you'll snag one. Good luck!

Went to the Apple Store in Wellington, FL this morning. No stock of either pencils or keyboards and no timeframe for getting more. Am I the only one who thinks this is the worst launch in Apple's recent history? A $1,000 product whose differentiating features are 2 SEPARATELY sold accessories that you can't even get!

I would like to make the PRO my laptop replacement, but can't without the keyboard. I would like to draw and take notes, but can't without the Pencil. What I have now is a big iPad, which while cool, is hardly worth the price.

The Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard is a pretty major mess up in terms of transparent availability. There's a lot of F(?)UD going around about whether or not it is available :(

They used to have an in-store stock check interface on the website for previous iPhone launches a couple of years ago. They really should bring it back for the pencil and keyboard.

Went to Apple Store in Metairie, LA. No luck. Felt like the rep was reading a script to me after he shoved 'no' to my face. I'm done hunting for this stupid pencil. I'll wait for staples to ship mine.

This is like the stainless steel Apple Watch launch bad, very disappointed at Apple

Can't say I don't agree with you. Makes me think there is some manufacturing problem as really how hard could it be to make these things!

It's great to find one in store, which I haven't, but why are they sending ANY to stores with online orders backed up till Christmas????

We may not like it, but it's basically Retail 101.

Bringing people into the store with the hopes and dreams of finding what they want is critical. Retail traffic leads to impulse purchase and increased sales. This does not happen as easily online where shoppers are more likely to shop specifically for desired items, given there is no instant gratification available when you have to wait for shipping. So more feet through the door is good for business. If we all knew there was not a shot of finding what we wanted, we would go in less frequently and the odds of some unexpected purchase diminishes.

Well, yes i'll buy this (no pun int.). But I don't want to :D

Well I'm just outside the Apple Store in Los Gatos and it appears they don't have it either (staff member told me twice). I'll still be going in for a quick check + get AppleCare+ with Discover 22% discount.

I called Garden State Plaza just now (12:38 PM) and they said they have none...

Just walked in at my store in Michigan and bought 2! They got 5 in today. Woo!
