Can we re-rail this thread back on its intended track? This thread is supposed to be about pencil stock status checks at the Apple retail stores. The rest of us don't care how you personally feel about the scarcity of Apple pencils. Go lick your wounds in another thread.

I just got back from the Apple Store at The Grove in Los Angeles, where there were no Apple Pencils in stock. In fact, a red t-shirt told me that they have yet to get a single Apple Pencil in that store. The redshirt also told me that Matt Groening was at the store yesterday looking at the demo pencil. Not even he could buy one. (But he did draw a picture of Homer Simpson on the iPad Pro.)

I was the first to respond with stock info in this thread but regardless off the off topic banter, it's not really something that a forum thread can help with IMO. There are so many Apple retails stores these days and so few pencils at the moment that even assuming someone posts info about a local store, by the time you reach it the 1 or 2 pencils will already have gone most likely. Most stock will be going to online orders (as happened when the Apple Watch was first released for example) so perhaps a thread tracking those deliveries might be more helpful. In any event, I'm unsubscribing from the thread and won't post again unless my local retail store business team manage to get me a pencil.

The point is less about tracking individual stores and more about the trend. When people start regularly getting them, everyone will know that stock has improved. Not everyone can slip out of work to check the Apple store every morning.

By the way, this is why it's helpful to continue to post when your check is unsuccessful too. Easier to tell when stock is improving that way.

Well I'm guessing Apple Stores get their deliveries same as everyone else - whenever FedEx / UPS etc. comes around with it. I say this because I actually saw a FedEx guy wheel in some stuff into an Apple Store (sadly no Pencils emerged afterwards).

It seems weekend deliveries are very unlikely, which means your best bet is probably on weekdays. I have a feeling Wednesdays and Fridays are good bets, since Wednesday was when the iPad Pro because available, and Friday is when stocks again appeared in Apple Stores.

You could always try every day next week though :p

Well so far I'm seeing nothing on Sunday.... Anyone have any reports of Sunday deliveries of the Apple Pencil?

I'm not aware of any Apple Stores that receive deliveries on Sunday (only Monday through Saturday). I don't think the normal delivery services (e.g., UPS, Fedex) offer Sunday delivery. USPS has a special deal with Amazon to deliver on Sundays, but I've never heard of Apple using Sunday delivery.

I went today and checked in person for the first time (West Farms Mall, CT store). The Genius looked at me and sort of rolled their eyes as if to say "another one?" but still asked the girl next to him if they had any. She did a quick little check and said "Hmmmmm" to make me think there was a chance. "Nope." and then my hopes and dreams were shattered. Looks like I'll be trying again next week ;P. For the record though I did get to try it for the first time and as I posted elsewhere, I was STUNNED by how accurate and smooth it draws.

Nice embellishments. I hope you've recovered from that humiliation :D

Note: Folks when you post your experiences, add the humiliating details. Makes for good reading.

The answer I got was consistent from all four Apple stores in my area. The estimated arrival time for pencils is first week of January. That's not bad all things considered.

Posting from Shanghai local time 2:58 PM Monday afternoon.

Except for launch day, none of the five location in Shanghai received Pencils .

I have a friend who bought an IPad Pro and Pencil in Shanghai launch day. I, on the other hand, sadly didn't try til Friday. No joy.

I ordered my pencil online within 10 minutes of it going live, and it arrived earlier than the 19th - 25th they said...

I went to the Cambridge store here in the UK last Wednesday because of that... and missed the last pencil by a few minutes... they had '4 or 5 delivered' ... This is totally speculation but I wonder if the few they received on the first day were perhaps meant for inshore?

It's strange if they delivered a paltry few on the first day and then nothing... which seems to be how it's going!

Must say however that the pencil is a total game changer! makes my wacom cintiq etc seem so inadequate... especially teamed with ProCreate.... wowsers!

Checked the Chelsea store in NYC as it opened. No shipments. Said to check mornings and afternoons. They have no information otherwise, and reiterated that they were as surprised as anyone when they went on sale in stores Wednesday.

I call BS. I seem to detect a trend of FUD in your posts. I've called my local stores daily and no one has been able to give a date, they all state that they get shipments daily and can't predict what will be in them. The likelihood of four stores in your area having this magic pipeline into the supply chain are near zero. Seems to me you are trying to stir up emotions by stating a distant date as fact.

LA area I've had zero luck so far. Saturday the Manhattan Beach location said they had some on Friday but sold out. I suspect that employee may have been confused though as I've spoken to others there that hadn't seen any come through yet.

Agreed, check out that guy's post history for yourselves, I don't even need to comment on it. I've talked to numerous in-store employees, including one actual manager, and while none of them had insider info on expected availability they all agreed that units were coming in daily.

Striked out again at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, MD. No pencil or keyboard, employee "claimed" they had the keyboard yesterday. They keep telling me to use the app to check for stock status/pick-up, I keep explaining that it is unavailable. This launch is a joke.

I got my pencil and keyboard on Thursday, but only because I was one of seven who had ordered to pick up in store on Wednesday. Apple over nighted pencils and keyboards to that store to take care of the seven of us. When I picked them up the manager let me have the pencil for free for all the hassle. He said that they only sent him enough to fill the seven orders and they aren't sure when they will get anymore.

Thanks for posting that......I think? :D

the best thing to do is to go into a store and ask a runner to check inventory across all stores nearby..yesterday the yonkers ny store showed up as having a few when I asked a runner a W 14th st (NYC) to check nearby stores...raced over there and got 1 !

You guys are hilarious.

Maybe I should call The Flash? He could check all stores in my state for me this morning. Or better, he could also check the UPS trucks along the way (for fun).

My two cents, all stores and retailers will have them soon and also the keyboard. Why would Apple delay even making more money on accessories especially the keyboard which allows folks looking into the Logitech.

Launch was last Wednesday and I bet most will have it by the end of the week. I'm not losing any asleep to tell the truth.
