Drawing I worked on last night using procreate. Really having fun with the pencil+ipadPro

Absolutely brilliant!

Were the guidelines you started with on their own layer that you hid/deleted later? It looks like a lot of components were drawn as separate layers. Would never have occured to me to do that, until now. Thanks!

Some of these are amazing!

Honest question from a non iPad Pro owner/non artist. Before anyone gets all defensive and accuses me of having an agenda, just know that I don't.

That being said, as an artist, what are the benefits of drawing on an iPad versus paper? Don't you miss the tangible creation of your art on paper? Or are you willing to sacrifice that for the benefits of editing and sharing?

Or am I totally off base with all my assumptions?

I gotta tell you. Although I do draw digitally by using Illustrator/photoshop as well, I do love to draw by my hand on paper. But iPad Pro/Apple Pencil combination makes me draw like I do on paper. Now I don't need to carry heavy and big sketchbook, don't need to decide which media(water color or just pencil or oil or whatever) I want to draw, just for need to bring everything I need to draw/paint when I go out. (I still do hand drawings on paper, but mostly at home). Also since it's already digital form, I don't need to scan my artworks, I don't need to take pictures of them, simply just make jpeg and easily upload on website.
Few days ago I posted another cats eyes black and white drawing(by Apple Pencil/ iPad), I'm reposting here with my hand drawing cats portrait on paper, so you can compare.

Above is by Apple Pencil/iPad Pro.

This one done on paper by my hand.
Compare both, you can see you can do even soft and very sensitive line works by Apple Pencil on iPad Pro, this is just amazing experience.

I've got a tempered glass protector on my IPP and the  Pencil works flawlessly with it. It's the $39.95 Verizon branded one. Fast shipping on it and clean application!

Some of this artwork is astounding!

That's good to hear ... have you noticed any parallax with it? I've not used one before, not sure how thick they really are.

Hey I get a dot at the beginning of every stroke in that app. Any clue how to fix this? I really need a inking app, and procreate has line quality issues. Pressure works good in medibang paint. Except for the dot.

What line quality issues are you seeing in Procreate? I haven't noticed anything. My lines look as good in Procreate as they do in MS5 or PS.

Yep. My motto is when in doubt, rough it out and then do the final drawing.

Any place but here or there....
Wow, superb creations. What a terrific thread. Really makes me want to go try the Pencil out on the iPad Pro again. Not an artist, but wouldn't mind trying... somehow I think I could make this fit into my work / school flow.

i cant get a good level of pressure sensitivity in that app for inking- no matter where i set my curve at. big blotches and lines that are not smooth. im giving it more time so i can adjust, but the pressure curve feels significantly less refined than i am used to. just got a matte screen protector- this might help too. i spend most of my day on a cintiq 27", i'm probably just spoiled by it.

Interesting. I haven't noticed that, but my only reference is my Intuous 4, so who knows. I did have to adjust the pressure curve a bit, as well. Feel free to update if you feel like that screen protector helps. :) I'm thinking of that or a tempered glass one.
