That's quite amazing. I'm starting to work in Procreate again and just feel like I am constantly fighting with the tools. I get frustrated that I can't just flip my brush onto it's edge and draw a thin line and then go back to the flat for a wider stroke.
Do you work zoomed in? What is your favorite tool for getting smooth colors, like the skin here?
Thank you
I started using Procteate when I got iPad Pro last December. I figured out I like how that App works, so consistently working on it and now I have better idea about what kind of brashes will give the effects I want to. I learned how to create/customize my own brushes on it too, so now I have plenty of customized brushes, from shapes/patterns to lines and touches.
When I draw cats, basic brush is water color brush/wash brush. Then I use texture hair brush to draw their hair. Use pencil brush for whiskers. Pretty much these are all I use.
Those girls, for skin, I use customized rough skin brush.
Have you ever tried to make your own brushes on Procreate?
It's fun, and originally Procreate itself has plenty material/base to mix and match for creating own brushes. I do take pictures and make PNG and use them to create own brushes as well though. Many of those splatters on my art works were I did on paper in real with watercolor and took pictures, then create brushes by myself.
About digital drawing, I think it's very important to know what kind of brushes give you what kind of effects or look. Another thing is how to use layers effectively. On Procreate, you can change opacity on each layers too, also choose shapes on specific layer and change their sizes/positions.
Try to start modifying existing brushes first, go each brush setting and change settings here and there, see how that brush looks different before and after. Don't need to worry if you mess up, because their original brushes are kinda protected, you can't delete them but can either duplicate and modify, or modify originals. If you modify original and didn't like it, just swipe to the side then you can see "reset".
Myself still learning a lot through drawing on that App, but if I can help you to learn with what I already know, I'm happy to do so
