Here are a couple drawings I've done in ProCreate.

Rough drawing Adobe sketch, which I will probably take to Adobe Draw to finish. I found a video on YouTube that pretty much sums up the process I undertake when making illustrations like the last couple I posted so for anyone curious or interested here it is:

I considered making my own step by step but this does a better job of explaining things than i would, and hopefully will help out if anyone's interested in getting to grips with this way of working. I'll post the finished illustration when I get a bit of time to work on it more.

Keep up the good work guys!

Can you tell me which brush did you use to achieve those sorts of lines?
I used a modified 6B Pencil. (Comparing non-modified with my modified settings, it looks like the only thing I modified was one slider under "pencil." Under the pressure settings I lowered the softness from 40% to 18%.)

First time drawing on my iPad Pro. First time really actually sitting down and drawing anything ever, to be honest. :/

Had the original picture printed out and hand sketched it into Procreate from sight. Then ran over again in Procreate with pens and colours. Pretty happy with how it turned out, I think!

This may be a really stupid question so I apologise in advance if this sounds amateur, but like I said I'm really only just starting out with this so I definitely am amateur lol.

I've been having trouble doing proper, nice looking lines. The attached example was just a very quick example purposely screwed up to show what I mean. There are obviously going to be differences but doing the exact same thing on paper would give me something much straighter, something less... Wonky? And uneven? Lol. Wrong pen tool, wrong app, something else I'm doing wrong, just something that comes with experience?

My advice to improve the smoothness of your lines would be to zoom out when making long lines, as this shortens the distance you have to move you hand and will make smoother lines easier. Secondly when making long smooth lines I tend to move my entire arm, drawing from my elbow and not from my wrist.

Lastly there will be a little while of getting used to working in a new way so don't beat yourself up about lines not being as you'd like straight away, just keep drawing and having fun. The rest will take care of itself

Hope that helps!

Adding to rews advice, maybe spin either the iPad or the canvas to accommodate long curves - there are some curves/sweeps that are much easier to do smoothly due to how the elbow/wrist work - which is one reason why it's so hard to draw a perfect circle freehand. These problems are compounded by smooth drawing surfaces like screens as your lines will probably slip more than they would on paper.

Personally I'm much better at the top left hand corner of a circle and sometimes I'll spin the canvas about just to take advantage of the extra accuracy.

In procreate spinning the canvas is two finger rotating, in case you've not done it much.

A matte screen protector might help too, though some here would likely disagree! :)

thank you both! much appreciated. :D I figured a lot of it just had to do with experience but I'll try all of these. :)

I was on this little bit ago, and taken over by daily errands and forgot about it, but finally was able to have some time to complete this. This cat is named "Pixie", she is the one of my favorites kitten I've met through volunteering at cats shelter. The end of last week, she and her sister "Trixie" both were adopted, and great thing is they went together to same home. I miss Pixie, and guess that reminded me to finish this :)

Those patterns are so called "Zen Tangle" lately :)

Well, never heard of it before, so I googled it. Whoever named it zen tangle probably did not really understand zen (zen is supposed to help you see things simpler, but this method produces very complicated patterns), but whatever! It does sound like a fun way to draw.

Ok, so here's my attempt at a "zen" cat drawing. No, I really can't draw, but this is my idea of what zen drawings should look like.

Yes you can draw, this your drawing is simple but having good lines.

As my understanding why they call those as "ZenTangles", it's because you forget everything when you are drawing them and kinda become like doing Zen-ish at the moment :)
Well, I'm lucky enough, always when I draw cats, it's just so relaxing and meditating ;)
