As I remember, in past posts there were couple of people who posted their time lapse videos here, but I don't have that link. It seems not many active artists here do it.
I created time lapse video also once and posted here when someone asked me, if you can check my past posts, you maybe able to find the link. It's some months ago though.

Did search for "time lapse"

Hey, I'm not as fast as you and the rest of the guys. I started working on my dog's portrait the other night again. Will do more tomorrow night. The drawing part was done awhile ago, now comes all the details and coloring. I'm a perfectionist, which is why it probably takes me so long. lol. Hoping to be done by middle or end of next week. I do have to get back to drawing more, been really lax on it lately. I will post sometime next week though.

I'm looking forward to see yours :)
Take your time, I just was saying I wanna see others work more, but no intention of pushing anyone, rushing anyone ;)

I've been working on it tonight and up late last night working on it. I'm about 85% done with it. I'm hoping to be done with it by the end of the Weekend or in a few days. I'm going out tomorrow night, so probably will not be working on it.

I understand, It's good you push me a little. I really haven't been doing much drawing at all, which is so unlike me. Been in kind of a rut. Feel better now that I've been working on it and able to concentrate on finishing it. I like to see others work also, some incredible artists on here. I'm also wondering what happened to Rews and he was working on a nice one.

So, as I promised, I re-made my very early cats' eye drawing.
First one was done when I just got iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, and started drawing cats' eyes.

image.jpg

This one was done on 11/21/2015.

And following is the one I did today.

image.jpeg

Both was done on Procreate.
It's only like 9 months apart, and I'm sure you all can tell much difference between those two.

What I wanted to prove was, like this example, I didn't have skills to draw like today, and I got better(and still getting better) little by little and day by day, because of daily practice.
I hope showing my own progress helps encouraging people who is new for digital drawing, who believes they don't draw well or don't have any skills to draw.

I just finished a picture of my Labrador Retriever Wylie. I'm not 100% happy with it, but I definitely like it. I kind of rushed it a bit, but it still is satisfactory for my first attempt. I'm really having trouble figuring out how to get the individual hair strokes like FairyCatinPink does. Plus the blending of the shades I need more work on.

Here is how I do for hairs.
I do back groud(body base) colors first. For example, if it's like white hair, I put white color and make basic shape.
Next, add another colors of hairs if the dog/cat hairs have multi colors.
Then add shades/white spots for each colors.
Finally, I draw hairs with hair brushes. One important thing is, make sure the color of hairs you draw is slightly different from that back color. Either darker or brighter depends on the area you drawing has lights or shades.
If you draw hairs with same colors as base, that strokes kinda will be buried and can't stand out, then you can't really see individual hairs on drawing.
Also, adjust hair brushes size and opaque level as needed.
That's pretty much how I draw hairs, does that make any sense to you? :)

Yes, thanks for the information. My lab is mostly white, but I get what you mean, maybe I should have started with the shading over the base color of White, then draw the hairs. I'll try another dog in the near future. I appreciate the help. :)

I just started playing with Adobe draw the last couple of days and under its simplistic exterior it really is an amazing and powerful app. Really having fun with it. I'll keep playing and hopefully post some work here soon.

I've been super busy lately so i've not had much chance to do any personal work at all really, but with a couple of days gap between some projects finishing and some others starting again i did get the chance to finish this. all done with Adobe Draw on the iPad Pro apart from the text and blue meth background which i added in Adobe Illustrator.

This was done almost entirely on an iPad?? Incredible stuff.

Do you think illustrators with a more or less traditional workflow (largely drawing and painting, even it's digitally done) could consider just going with an iPad pro or is a computer still essential? Just curious to get a professional's opinion (as a student I'll have access to university computers so won't be completely desktop less but am considering it).

Cheers and keep up the excellent work!

Thanks for the kind words!

As for going with solely an iPad Pro... it's a difficult one to answer really. It depends on the final outcome. You can use just an iPad pro if you want to create illustrations/artwork with digital painting apps like Procreate or Paper or even vector artwork with Adobe Draw, and you're happy with the .jpeg or .png that the app allows you to share then you're all set. However, if you're doing client work, i would say that a traditional computer is necessary just so you can work with different file formats, resize artwork with more precision, etc.

I would compare it to working in a traditional way, for example let's say you have a project to create artwork for an album cover and you do rough sketches and nail the concept and composition and move forward to painting the final outcome. You have a beautiful painting in your hands, but the client needs this in a printable form. Perhaps you need to make some adjustments with colour (this admittedly could be done on the iPad pro) and add some text or add a logo. These kind of things are just easier with a computer.

I could be wrong, there could be ways to do these things precisely and i'm just not aware of them, but personally i would recommend having a computer with an iPad Pro.

Sorry if that's a bit of a ramble! I've posted on my blog about my journey making the poster with the iPad Pro so if you're interested the link is here

Also, here's a Gif of the breaking bad poster, just to make up for the wall of text :)
