Does it connect to all four sides or just one?
There’s a specific spot to attach it, and it needs to be in the right direction as well (point down when the camera is at the top). The magnet is visible as a rounded rectangle.

On my 11, orientation doesn’t matter, it’ll stick either way.

Interesting. Thanks! While I'm happy with my current iPad and Pencil, it will be interesting to follow Apple as they update this in the future.

really tempted to get a new iPad Pro just for the way the new pencil charges. hate plugging mine into the charge port of the iPad!

Anyway, great to see this thread doing well! Keep up the good work everyone!

I don’t think I’ll ever tire of clicking the Pencil on and off the new iPad. There’s just something satisfying about it :D

I don’t know that I’d upgrade just for that right enough :p But then I very, very rarely used the iPad to charge the Pencil (gen 1) I always had it in a dock on my desk, so it was fully charged whenever I needed it. Away from home I always took the adapter to charge it with a Lightning cable. So never an issue really.

Not that I don’t love my new Pro, as a complete package it’s a very nice system. Not necessarily an essential upgrade, but very nice nonetheless.

Every time I plug my pencil into my iPad Pro 10.5, I feel like I should be walking around with it like this.

I thought I was the only one tempted to upgrade just because of the new pencil connection technique. :)

I've been experimenting with photo illustration the last few months so you'll be seeing more of this type of art from me. I took the original photo with my iPhone 8+ and finished the illustration on my iPad Pro using Apple Pencil and Procreate.

It's quite the mix of subjects but I pride myself on eye catching photos and stories. Feel free to swing on by and peruse my content. Thanks. #drifter_from_mainstreet

I love my new iPad Pro and Apple Pencil.
Personally about Apple Pencil, functionally I don’t see much advance from previous. But I love that shape, and no losing cap issue anymore, and the best part to me was how it charge from iPad Pro. About clicking to switch pen and eraser, I don’t care much and not necessary to me.
New iPad Pro, I picked 11. It’s small and thin yet powerful, but some digital drawing lovers may prefer new 12.9, since it’s now much smaller than original, and lot of working space.

Oh, regarding charging, be careful when you buying the case for iPad Pro, if it’s fully covered side, Apple Pencil still can stick on possibly but I didn’t see it’s charging. I guess Apple Pencil actually need to touch on iPad Pro to charge.

I just got the new Pencil and new iPad Pro 12.9. Compared to the original Pencil I feel this has a better feel for the tip touching the screen. If I hold the Pencil lightly, rather than gripping it tightly, I have a better writing experience.
