Would it be possible that they hold it and then it's not available for pick up until 9/17? That would be my worry.
Sometimes less than a handful of orders arrive earlier than the release date due to mistakes. Quite rare though.
Previous to Covid and the supply problems many orders orders arrived before the estimated date. We'll see if those issues have gone away.
aghhh. I put the wrong suite number on my pre-order do my 14 pro max. Its in preparing to ship status and I don't see a way to edit it on apple's website. Their phone support is closed right now. Does anyone know if im screwed?
Apple will not post it till Thursday nor will they show it shipped till then. You need to have the UPS MyChoice account to see it now or track by your phone number under reference number. All ours still show preparing to ship, but my UPS account proves otherwise

Might have already shipped. Apple doesn’t update status of shipped until late week. Like Thursday.
I called apple and they said it hasnt shipped so they cant change it, but once it ships they can change it. That doesnt really sound right to me. I might just be screwed.
If you have a 9/16 date, it has shipped. As we have all stated in here multiple times, Apple will not update their system to show you it shipped until Thursday. If you are in the U.S and ordered direct from Apple, it should be coming by UPS. So either go to the UPS site and track by reference # and enter your phone number, OR go to the UPS App if you have a MYCHOICE account and look there. Once you locate the tracking you can call UPS to edit the info.
I'm trying to find the package in my choice right now but it's not showing up. I added the address with the wrong suite number to my list of addresses.
If you added the wrong address it may take a day to update and show up. Would be easier to at least try searching by reference number.
by phone number right? I can look it up by that but im not sure how to add that to mychoice
Hey folks. Back in the day, you used to be able to pre-sign for the phone. Anyone know if you can still do that? I definitely won’t be home for delivery and I’m hesitant to have it delivered to a local UPS store.
I can find my package by my phone number on UPS.com but it doesn't show up at all for me in mychoice. That sucks if it wont change to "shipped" until thursday because I need to ask Apple or UPS to fix the address I gave them since there's a mistake in it 
Hmm interesting. Apparently a label hasn’t been created for mine yet. I just see expected to ship Thursday September 15th. I don’t know if that means I’ll see it Friday the 16th, or a week later. I’ll be irritated if it arrives late.
Note that mine is 'stuck' (not really) in the same spot as two days ago.
Since I'm in a big city, i've found that Apple waits until the last minute to get them out of China. It's all part of Apple magic, and removed a bottleneck in North America (Anchorage, Louisville, Indianapolis, etc.).
Smaller places - including even Tampa and Indianapolis (where there are large hubs) - tend to move sooner.
