Anyone feel like we should create a wiki post at the top of this thread where we can gather all the links and descriptions to Shortcuts? I've been searching for months for a place where people can gather and share shortcuts/workflows. Sharecuts.app is a good start if they can upload quicker and more than just what's already offered in the Shortcuts gallery. Otherwise, this thread seems like a good place to gather a collection since that's kinda the point already. So how about that wiki?

It will help if Apple will get the iCloud links working.

Here’s a link to one of mine: a Shortcut to tell someone in your contacts that you are traveling to visit when you’ll arrive (fingers crossed link works!). The fun part is using Siri to tell the Shortcut your contact's name!

https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/8d6ff24b5f4c45d88996cf30f2e2668d

I changed the script so you don't need a last name in order for it to work. Because I don't have a last name for everyone.

How can I change the dictation though? I'd like to be able to say to siri something like "Tell X my ETA" and then this script runs. Or something along those lines

Thanks!

Here's a few that I use:

Manage tasks with these 2 shortcuts created by GreyOS.
Start activity - https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/a18f6e1915814ee1bdce65f92c178a18
End activity - https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/26223baf82244d63ba0055f66f8e404b
First one starts an activity and let's you input what task you are starting. End Activity simply ends the task and calculates the time you spent. Task start time and end time are inserted into Evernote. A new note is created for each day that you use it, and is populated with all your tasks for the day. Make sure the time format is set to your area or you will get errors. There are still a couple bugs; sometimes I run End Activity and it gets a date format error. Usually if I wait a minute and run it again it works just fine. I'm not sure what the problem is. If you use it and make it better or different, upload a link to your version as well so everyone can use the latest and greatest. We are Apple fans after all.

I got this shortcut from jordanmerrick on his GitHub, which I will link below. He has a large collection of Workflows. This is just my favorite.

Glad you were able to use this!

The Siri dictation that is the first action is different than the Siri voice command you use to trigger the Shortcut itself. As far as I can tell, there’s no way to capture the trigger phrase and use the words captured in that first action. However, if you’re just using the shortcut for a particular person, you can dispense with the Siri dictation and all those actions I used to look up the person in my contacts.

Since I can’t post links (they aren’t working), I’ll post screenshots of how this works (I apologize for not stitching them but Tailor is thrown off by screenshots that are similar)

That’s a WHOLE LOT of work for something so simple. Not your fault but I’m not seeing a shortcut as of this as something more efficient than using Siri and your voice to dictate text (other than a little more accuracy).

I’ll have to see or come up with something more complex to see a better use case that would fit my need.

This must be the first time I’m not willing to upgrade since OS3

Sure, it took some work (maybe an hour) but (1) you never have to do it again and (2) it will save you probably 1-2 minutes and likely 50+ keystrokes per use. On balance, I’m ok with that.

Was there a problem searching on ‘Name’ and not having to split the name?

Even though the “printed out” result of the Siri dictation had a name as a distinct first and last name, it would not pass it that way into the “send til slot on the message form (it would always concatenation the first and last names). Only way I could get it to work was to split it, search for the matching contact and then have that inserted into the “send to”. A lot of work for what seems like an easy magic variable pull

I thought it would be cool to get ideas from other users on how to leverage the power of shortcuts. Sometimes I have trouble thinking creatively and would love to hear ideas from others.

I’ll start with one I’m creating:

“Hey Siri - We’re all leaving now” (used when all the family is heading out for the day/night/weekend)
- turns off all living room and upstairs lights
- turns on couch lights (so it looks like someone is home)
- set all thermostats to “away mode”
please create a wiki post, where the users can add for each categories the shortcuts. can you change the first post?

Sorry, not sure I follow. I tried it myself and it seems to work. Here’s what I mean: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/7a2ce10c06a04f88ac499aaef0b5811c

Help, trying to create a shortcut for my commute. I usually open my Pandora app and Waze app during my commute so is it possible to create a shortcut for it? If so how? I tried the Pandora but could not figure out how to add Waze to open up as part of my commute shortcut. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I like your solution. Solves my problem much more elegantly than I did.

Thanks!
No worries, I thought there might have been a problem doing it that way and why you avoided it. The app putting [Full] Name at the bottom of the contact details list when First and Last are at the top- not very intuitive!

This is pretty easy, I think: Just add an action to Open App [Choose Pandora] and add a second Open App [Choose Waze]. You have to have both apps installed on your device to be able to choose them though.

Can someone help me with this... please

I want a text box to appear, within this text box I can enter a movie title.

The shortcut will search IMDb for the movie and then send it as a link with some pretext (like, "New movie found on Sky") as a separate message to a few friends.

I don’t want friends to see each other’s number so separate message are best and the shortcut should do this automatically after I have entered the movie title.

I don't think IMDB has been updated to work with Shortcuts yet. So while you can do the text input thing, I don't think there's a way to search IMDB yet.

Use the "Open URLs" action. You have to pass it the URL, but it will then open to that page.
Yeah thanks just found the URL in the second step, was searching web, webpage, etc.

Cheers
[doublepost=1537303906][/doublepost]So far I have:

UEZ71zN.jpg

Soundcloud - There is a soundcloud icon so that's cool.

Shazam - No app icon, so using the microphone. - I could just say "hey siri what song is this?" but sometimes if it's at a place where music is loud this shortcut is helpful.

Rewards - Opens my website that I have all my barcodes on for rewards / scanning, etc. - Using barcode icon. I'll mention that 80% of my rewards aren't supported in wallet so this is my workaround.

Google Maps - Because Apple maps is trash where I live and also I prefer google maps. I know there is the widget for maps but I don't use it enough to need it there. Shortcut is perfect for me.

---

I would like to add a shortcut for this app called "Kasa" which is to use a smart outlet. Sadly this app doesn't show up in the list of available apps. No idea why?

App: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/kasa-smart/id1034035493?mt=8

I really hate this app and regret buying the outlet because of the lack of support and connection issues it has, but it was low cost on amazon. If anyone can suggest a better smart outlet that doesn't break the bank and is homekit supported I'm listening.

I don’t think you’ll find this satisfactory but it was fun trying. And I wouldn’t rule out being able to do it with a better understanding of IMDB services.

This shortcut will produces a link to IMDB that searches for the movie you enter, and sends separate messages to the people you enter into the Contacts step.

It doesn’t find the actual movie page which is what I think you wanted. Though, you have to understand there might always be multiple results for a film anyway.

Does anybody know how to stop Siri saying “Running your shortcut” then “OK, that’s done”. A weather report bookended by those just sounds stupid.
