It will help if Apple will get the iCloud links working.

Here’s a link to one of mine: a Shortcut to tell someone in your contacts that you are traveling to visit when you’ll arrive (fingers crossed link works!). The fun part is using Siri to tell the Shortcut your contact's name!

EDIT: Link works!!!!! Thanks, Apple!
[doublepost=1537279239][/doublepost]Here's an interesting article about how to use IFTTT with Shortcuts (even though its not officially supported (yet).

https://www.macstories.net/ios/how-to-trigger-ifttt-applets-with-ios-12s-new-shortcuts-app-and-siri/

Uograded to iOS 12 (keyboard font is very different btw) and like yesterday on iOS 11, “links are not valid” incl yours above although I see the page and icon.

Maybe Apple is segregating Shortcuts cia country or region?

Apple.com vs Apple.ca?

Interesting. I just tried the link and it did work for me (it wasn't when they were down on Monday). I know I've been able to download from the links from @GreyOS who, I believe, is in the UK.

Well this was interesting. When I ran this my phone got crazy hot, and battery dropped from 92% to 52% in about 30 seconds. No joke. Either there is a bug, or using Wait is crazy battery intensive for some reason.

Try the method in this tweet, instead.

Yep UK.

And so funny how I missed the obvious option of DND until ‘Time’ used in that tweet you linked to. I had a shortcut that created an event of a custom length and turned on DND until the event ended - such overkill!

I made one that opens SiriusXM app, opens Health App and goes to biking distance. Named shortcut "at the gym". Only problem is when I run it only SiriusXM opens and that's it until I go back to the Shortcuts app. Then it opens Health.

Just won't seem to run them both automatically.

I know. Obvious and yet not obvious. Those are the sorts of things I’d like to see in the Tips and Tricks thread.

I grabbed that shortcut. I don't even use DND that much, I'm just excited about shortcuts! I thought the way it worked was cool, and if I wanted I could delete the event and immediately end the DND. However, I've now edited it to use the simpler method of simply scheduling an end-time rather than having a linked calendar event.

Shortcuts are fun. I do wish they could be triggered automatically though, such as by an event or a location. I've always wanted to have a way to have certain calendar events trigger DND for the duration.

I'll give this a try, thanks for sharing this! Definitely looks more efficient. Bit of a learning curve for this.
Post back if it makes a difference. I think it will as I suspect "Wait" is more processor intensive than the Adjusted Date method (due to actively counting). But I'm not an engineer, so that's just a guess.

Wow, that was painful. I've created my first shortcut. Took ages trying to work out how info from one function can be passed to the next. Anyway, what it does is grab your current event in the calendar, ask you to select a contact, then drafts an iMessage to them to say "I'm busy until <event end time>; the event is called <event name>". I really wanted it to send it to the latest "missed call" but I couldn't fathom a way to access that info.

If you don't have a current event the message will look empty and useless. If you have more than one it'll pick one at random. I guess someone smart could add some error checking and method for multiple events if you're so busy. You'll need to edit the contacts selection as I'm filtering on a group name you probably don't have.

Hmm, it seems they can't be uploaded here and I don't want to create an iCloud link in case I forget and add personal info to it in the future. Let's try ...

Can anyone help me with this? Struggling. I want to have a shortcut open an app. Wait for 1 min as I go through it and then execute opening another app automatically? Is this possible?

Yes it’s possible. Just have to use the wait action

Tried that. Doesn’t work, or I should say it does work but it requires me to go back to the shortcuts app before it executes the wait command and opens the next app

Is there any way to send an automatic message upon arriving at a location? I really like the 'Heading to Work' shortcut but I want to add the action to send a text message when I arrive at work to a contact? Gladly appreciate your help!

Here is what I have.

Street Address -> Show Directions
Wait (30 seconds)
Overcast (Play)
Text (1920) -> Wait (Number of seconds with the Text as the variable) <this makes it easier to get longer times otherwise you have to hold the stupid + forever>
Text (120) -> Repeat (Repetitions with the Text as the variable)
Get current location -> If (Input contains, Value <I put the street name where my work is since I turn on it at the very end>)
Text (At work.) -> Send Message (With Text as the content) <I have to put in the phone number here or it sends it to the wrong number for my contact. I put the text box or else it tries to send my location also rather than just at work>
-> Exit Shortcut -> Otherwise -> Wait (20 Seconds) -> End If -> End Repeat

I have had to go through a couple iterations that haven't worked how I want. This one seems like it will work but I won't know until I drive in tomorrow morning.

I made a fake one for going to Wrigley Field.

It assumes that you won’t arrive for at least 30 minutes then it starts checking your location every 30 seconds for 30 more minutes. I did this because I assume it uses less battery not checking location for the first 30 minutes, but I don’t actually know that. You could just use the repeat loop.

You can change the text values from 1800 for the first 30 minutes and the repeat from 60 to some other value to adjust how long it checks your location.

Then you just need to change the address at the beginning for whatever works for you. Also you need to change the “Clark” on the If statement value to part of your destination address.

This thread sounds like fun!
I made this shortcut where you can see who’s birthday’s today and send a premade message to that person with his/her name on it (and some cute Emojis). If there are no birthdays today you will be told by an alert. Plus, if there are birthdays tomorrow, a notification will tell you. You can also activate the shortcut by asking Siri: “Is someone’s birthday today?”.

By the way, the premade birthday messages are written in my mother language (spanish). But you can change them yo your own language.

I doubt it since the Shortcuts app is basically an app to make buttons. You need to press a button so it can work. But I think the Find My Friends app has a function like the one you are describing.

No,not by itself. Shortcuts has no geofencing capabilities. However, if you get Launcher Pro you can integrate that with Shortcuts.

Anyway to open Mobile Data from the settings listings with a shortcut? To check how much I've used.
Scratch that. Just remembered 3D touching Settings gives you the same option.
