People keep making the mistake of how to respond to an iOS. The problem is seeing it as a final one off complete product on release. It isn't its a fluid, evolving, growing thing that will keep changing throught the year. We cant truly judge the success or failure of iOS 7 until just before iOS 8 is released when we have the last and final build of it.

If we just judge the release state then its no different to iOS 6 and for me that was a far worse release than iOS 7 feature and look wise but by the end of its life ad we had the complete vision of it then people loved it hence the amount wanting to go back as they prefered it or were just happy and comfortable.

Come the end of iOS 7's life cycle and we get its final build I am sure the majority will be happy with it. Its about perspective, we all need to get some and just enjoy our devices. Encourage improvements and suggest new ideas but stop bashing Apple as a poster above said it seems to be the cool thing to do and call people sheep .... But by falling into such a trend your just one yourself but we still have our idevices.

But I don't know if bringing back someone you fired and publicly ridiculed is a good idea either.

The public ridicule was very poor form. I CEO should not permit that. At the time CF was mocking iOS 6 is was on every iDevice Apple sold.

If they had something to be proud of running down the the talented engineer who was heading that system and already discharged would have been unnecessary.

In any case that behavior is beneath Apple.

If Cook felt that Forstall was a threat he should have tightened up his game. Dispatching lieutenants to mock Forstall demonstrates more weakness.

Yea, iOS needs someone like him and i think if he takes over iOS 7 now given the right instructions he would do better with flat than what ive seen so far. Thats my opinion

Having a family member with fairly severe motion sickness I can tell you that she has to close her eyes during certain scenes in movies such as extended car chases. And movies where they shoot it with a handheld cam that bounces all over the place for more realism? Forget it, she won't even see those movies.

Scrolling through pages on the phone isn't a problem - the animation is different. iOS 6 isn't a problem for her either, but she played with my phone on iOS 7 and said the animations started to bother her.

Oh, and no to Forstall.

I got sick only once in the cinema while watching the first "Paranormal Activity" and all the amateur filming style (camera movements) made me real sick! And generally I have no problems with such stuff but I guess anyone who have problems with iOS animations could potentially have problems with watching action movies and stuff.

----------

But after seeing Apple's direction without him, I really wish he would come back.

Careful what you wish for......

iOS 7 IS better than iOS 6. Put aside people's gripes about color palettes and icon designs and let's look at functionality shall we?

1. Mail App: iOS 7 introduced popular gestures that are present in other modern mail applications like Gmail and Mailbox. IF you think this is not better than the limited garbage mail app in iOS 6 you are mistaken.

2. Control Center: Do I even need to explain this one? iOS 6 doesn't even have it.

3. Music App: iOS 7 has iTunes radio. Sure it needs some work but where else can you listen to the ENTIRE iTunes catalog and purchase songs directly from the app? Pandora doesn't even come close to matching the the amount of songs that are available through iTunes.

4. Camera: the iOS 7 camera app is better because you no longer have to toggle this tiny switch to go from photo to video and it has filters.

5. Game controller API: iOS 7 has a standard API for companies to make game controllers for iDevices. This was not present in iOS 6. What's the big deal you say? So many people game on iDevices that Nintendo and Sony PSP are losing gaming marketshare to iPhones.

6. With the edge gestures (slide from anywhere to unlock and go back and forward in certain screens) Apple is prepping the OS to be scalable to a larger screen device so you dont have to have a 5" thumb to reach the corner.

7. Safari: iOS 7 Safari has the omnibar, better tab management.

This list goes on and on and on..

What do people do? They whine about things that don't really matter

"It's too white! wah!"

"I don't like the icons! Wah!"

"iOS 6 is too boring but iOS 7 is too different! wah"

"My ADD won't let me wait for the animations to finish when it unlocks so I can swipe like a mad man, Wah!"

Enough already. Use your devices and stop looking for faults because criticizing Apple is the "cool" thing to do.

LOL this is too easy

1. I use mail many times a day, haven't noticed anything new in iOS 7.

2. Yup, control center, If you didn't already have it by jailbreaking your device.

3. Itunes Radio? Only available in the US haha

4. Well that's a hell of a change.

5. Yet, real gamers will all say gaming is way better on respectable gaming devices.

6. So basically it's useless for now, lol, I've never used it and I don't know anyone who has.

7. Omnibar or not, it's not that much of a big deal.

OK so to you, design doesn't matter? Design is what you see everyday but to you it doesn't matter. It's like saying I don't need a screen, a screen is not important. Stop it, you seem ridiculous, it's okay to defend Apple but there's a limit which you don't seem aware of.

I want to use my device but it's just so fugly! so slow! If we want to criticize Apple, we will, ain't no 12 year old gonna tell us what to think. I have bought my idevice, I have earned the right to complain.

Even a 12 year old knows if you have an issue with a product you to go the company who MADE the product. Last I checked Macrumors.com is not in any way associated with Apple Inc.

Unless you have provided feedback, called or e-mailed Apple about your discontent with their product update you havent excersized your "right" to complain at all.

Bring Scott back, he had a talent for design, and a facility for rich luxury looking iOS.

I wish there were a hybrid that combined the added features of iOS 7 with the appearance of iOS 6

A 12 year old would know that going to apple with such feedback is a complete waste of time as it would take thousands of bad feedback to get them to change something.

You apple geeks all say how much you love iOS 7, can't I say how much I hate it?

Even if they didn't add anything new to IOS7 and kept it the way it was, I felt Scott still had to go.

It was clear that he was an impediment to progress in Apple. IOS6 just plain stank. Maps was a complete disaster, Siri didn't really get anything useful, and the other apps simply got very piecemeal upgrades. All in all, I found it the most underwhelming upgrade to date. He was obviously unable to cope with the scale of IOS, yet too arrogant to ask for help or seek to collaborate with other departments.

With Scott's departure, and Craig and Ive at the helm, you can sense that Apple is working harder than ever before to bring exciting new features to both IOS and OSX. In the very least, I have experienced significant improvements in Siri.

I believe Tim made the right call here.

You are completely welcome to hate iOS 7 all you want. Are you going to DO SOMETHING about it or just join the hate circles on these forums and beat a dead horse which STILL doesn't solve your problem of "hating" it. I hated Sprint because of dropped calls...guess what, I switched to Verizon and I'm happy now.

It's not written in stone that you have to stay with a specific brand or company. I left the iPhone 3GS for the HTC Evo 4G to try something new and see what else is out there. I came back because I still preferred the iPhone.

So you're telling me people were throwing up using the barrel jailbreak tweak in iOS 6 that spun all the icons in animations?

How come no one was reporting motion sickness with that?

Maybe because there are alot less people that jailbreak and even fewer that use Barrel. Plus, if it did make them sick they just would uninstall it and not be forced to use it like they would be with iOS 7.

Where Judas lost it's boots.
You should put ME in charge, I would reduce taxes.. oh wait..

I would put a dark theme on iOS 7, fix the crappy calendar and everything else.

I promise:D

Honestly I think that iOS 7 has salvation, but it needs many things fixed fast. Now if Forstall means skeuomorphic design he should go take a walk.

After reading the articles that Scott Forstall was a terrible collaborator and would shoot down other team member's ideas, no, I do not think that he should return to Apple. I also like the new interface of iOS 7 a lot more than anything that was released while Forstall was working on iOS.

I wonder if it was really just a power struggle?
He was employed while steve was alive and fired subsequently after his death.

Ask yourself, are apple really trying to continue steve's vision?
Or simply removing people who pose a threat to their authority.

Since the basis of his removal was the GUI and Ive has done WAAAYY worse; yes rehire him as soon as possible.

Now way brah, iOS7 looks sleek and modern.

You want gloss, buttons and leather stitchings? Too bad. Buy something else its not coming back.
