Wait. See what the the model has to offer.

I'm in the exact opposite situation. I need a new phone for work this week. The 7 won't be released by the time I have to have my purchase done. So, I'm going to pay market value fo 3/4 year old technology. Albeit great technology. (I once waited over 18 months for a Mac Pro that never happened.)

I resolve matters by thinking the key feature I would want is stereo sound, and I don't think that's going to be in the 7 (just a wild guess on my end.) I'll admit I'm prepared to take the hit, and "swap up" if there's a killer feature on the new version.

I bought iPhone 6S Plus on Saturday and it is so great! I had iPhone 6 and think, that you don't have to wait till the new iPhone, if you need it or want it, just buy it now :)

I agree, but I don't think that's what the OP is dealing with. If there is no immediate need, then waiting a few months, will generally provide more bang for your buck.

Except he has a battery that's acting up and failing power button.

get the 6s if you want to have a iPhone which is popular because trust me not many people will be buying the iPhone 7 / 7 plus / 7 pro as apple is going down the same path as BlackBerry, they arnt keeping up with brands like Samsung, LG and Huawei etc.

Depends on money! If that isn't an issue buy the 6S now and upgrade to the 7 if you feel the need or wait on the 8.

Honestly, it depends on how bad your phone is if you think your phone can wait till September then I would really advise you to wait.
Or u can do what my sister did (her iPhone 4 was practically dead, she did not want the 6s,she wanted the SE, she hated the size of the 6s but she had no choice she needed a working phone.)
So when the SE came out she sold her 6s and bought the phone. I think you could do the same if you really wanted the newest features that badly.

I'm in a similar situation except I need a new phone once I return state side in a week since broke my VZW blackberry Q10 (I honestly do like it..) but if I didn't need a new phone (a have one but not verizon CDMA device) I would have waited till fall for either the 7 or for the cheaper 6S...

So I'd say wait as long as possible at least till the announcement of the 7 or get a 6s then sell it if the 7 has better features...who knows its a few months away perhaps better features will present themselves later on.

7 is looking to be a disappointment in my eyes. At this point I might say wait to see what's coming and then just buy a 6s plus when it's $100 cheaper.

There's only two right answers: find a 6s/6s Plus on sale or wait for the 7. Buying an iPhone right now at full price isn't worth it, not when you could have been using one for months now for the same price.

I find my 6s Plus an acceptable iPhone.

That's not being critical, just an opinion that admittedly is influenced by the truly outstanding Nexus 6P I use as my primary smartphone of choice.

If... Apple delivers a compelling reason to buy an iPhone 7 Plus, I will. Having used every iPhone to date concurrently with flagship Nexus and other Androids, I do enjoy the variety.

Good luck with your choice. :D

When I need a phone, I go out and buy one. Waiting months for the next better model is ridiculous. Why stop there? Wait for the 8 or the 9.

The 6s+ is an amazing phone, now, and it still will be in a year.
see that used to be true until iOS updates start slowing down your phone after a year

Yeah, but we're talking years before it's noticeable, or even a problem. My kids both have an iPhone 4s, running the current 9.3.1. It's a bit laggy, yes, but it's a phone from 2011! I guess Apple can't win... if they keep updating old devices, they get blasted. If they were to stop supporting anything prior to the 6, they'd get blasted for that too.

Hi all, I've got an itch I really want to scratch and that's owning a Plus model size. I'm doubtful of investing in the 7, due to the rumoured next year refresh which I intend to get day 1. So until then I still require a new phone. I can get maximum trade in value for my 6 right now, £240 in fact however the closer I wait until September I could see that dropping to around £170. I'm willing to bet a 7 Pro, will be priced higher, then again the 6s plus will be coming down in price, in September. So if I was to wait until September to be honest I would mostly likely just get the regular 7, however part of me wants to know what it's like to own a plus sizing, so there's a chance I could go to the Apple Store and buy the 6s plus now. Thoughts?

If it's just an "itch" and not a "need", I would advise you to take a pause and wait - maybe until the iPhone 7 or even the 7S in a year if your current phone is not dead.

There's some itches you just shouldn't scratch. I mean honestly, just wait a few months. At the very least, the phone you want to buy will become cheaper once the new phone is released. If you don't care about saving money or what Apple's offerings may be later this year, then go ahead and buy it now.

Yes, Apple lowers the price $100 (if I remember correctly), but don't they also remove the highest memory option? I think you can only get the two lowest tiers.

Or were you talking about the used market?
