When the iPhone 7 comes out, how much should I spend on a Iphone 6s Plus 64 gb? I'm trying to save up for one right now and I want to get a good deal. Is about 600 okay or too much?

I would expect the 6s plus to drop to around $400-450 when the new one comes out. I just bought one 2nd hand in mint shape for $600.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the older devices aren't sold at a discount without contract through Apple or any store like Best Buy?

As for me, I will wait for the iPhone 8. It pretty much goes without saying that the rumors are solid that 7 will be only a slight upgrade and the big upgrade will be for the 10 year anniversary next year.

So then how much would the iPhone 7 be...?
The 4.7 inch will likely be $649 plus tax, and the plus model will likely be $749.

Perhaps as a refurb model. I have not once walked into an Apple Store where they carry previous versions of iPhones. iPads? yes.
Watch Apple's keynotes and you'll see how the price drops with previous models.

This endless waiting loop is ridiculous. If you need new phone go and buy one that fit your needs and move on.

All the correct models will be useful for many years...
Not quite true. That latest model iPhone you buy today, has a life of about 3 years from the day it was released before Apple slow it down with iOS "upgrades" and it becomes laggy, and 4 years before it becomes unusable. Planned obsolescence is an unavoidable feature of an iPhone.

I still have an iPhone 5. Replaced the battery recently, and replaced the charging port twice already. Not bad for a phone that I've owned since 2012.

I'm looking to get a new iPhone this year. if the price drops for iPhone 6s because the new iPhone 7 is out, will the price be comparable to iPhone SE?

Right now I'm eyeing the SE this autumn. But a lot of that has to do with the difference in price between 6s and SE. I want to buy the 64gb version. If they are practically the same, there's no point getting the SE, might as well get the 6s

It'll drop, but not comparable to the SE. Probably starting in the mid $500 if we go by Apple's previous history with price drops.

You absolutely must refuse to upgrade iOS beyond the release that came with the device. This goes for iPads and other devices, too. Apple absoutely ruined my 4th gen iPad with their stupid iOS updates. Was fine with iOS 6 on that device. My 6 Plus is still running 8.3.1 (I think). NOT going to 9 on that phone.

For me as a consumer this does not make any sense at all. I could not care less if it's 10 years since the first iPhone was released.

I want the best phone I can get today - and with todays tough competition in the phone market Apple can't afford releasing an iPhone 6SS. It just does not make any sense.

Is the Pro model rumours true I wonder. Three models instead of the usual two....

As a consumer, you SHOULD care. It's their anniversary. They will go all out and wow us big time, make no mistake.

Look at it this way. A car manufacturer introduces updated models each year with typically minor improvements or changes every year. The refresh cycle is typically around 4 or 5 years. At that time, the new models are vastly different in design, mechanics, and features than the previous generation.

While Apple has traditionally had the "refresh cycle" every 2 years, the refresh cycle for Apple now will reset starting with their 10th anniversary: September 2017. For simplicity's sake, if you buy in 2016, you will get the "older" generation iPhone.
