If I had a cat that did this, I would probably kill her :)

Very nice setup you have there! I like the blue a lot and I see that you got the standard keyboard together with the Magic Trackpad and the Magic Mouse.
My guy does it all the time, loves to be scratched.

lovely setup, which Dell Screen please
Thanks. It's the Dell P2720DC. It's 1440p rather than 4K, but more than ample for my work. It also benefits from a USB-C port so video can be transferred through a single connection from a suitable device which can then be powered simultaneously.

Excellent choice out of stock currently via Dell
Though I'll re check post WFH, then space is available, as adding a screen to xps via Kensington dock.

thanks appreciated!

My iMac finally arrived and it's beautiful... coming from a 2012 iMac 21.5", the display on my new one is simply mind-blowing. It turns out that the silver bezels blend it beautifully with my white wall behind.

However, I have noticed two things which I would like to run past you all who, just to check if you have similar issues:

  1. There is a tiny little spot on the upper right back of the iMac; it is not a dent, it is just a little spot where the coating seem to have chipped off. It is barely noticeable from a normal viewing distance and it actually does not bother me as the back will only ever face a white wall.
  2. It seems that there is a tiny little gap on the top edges of the display panel. I have attached a video and pictures. Is that normal and within a certain tolerance? I am not having the impression that the panel comes off, not at all, and I do not see any impact on the screen (quality) itself.
I guess I could go for a warranty return, however, I am wondering if it is worth the effort? Right now all Apple Stores and the authorised repair centres are closed here. Or I simply wait a couple of weeks until we are out of the lockdown and then initiate a replacement under the 1 year warranty.

What do you guys think?

The dilemma with getting a replacement is that there is always a chance that the replacement has a different but worse imperfection - such as a mark on the front, dead pixels, or a buzzing/whine like these folks are reporting:

If you don't have any of these potentially more annoying issues, you might count yourself lucky (relatively).

Get a refund and/or a replacement iMac. No use of putting up with that despite what you might think is not viewable - you'll forever know it's there.

There's always the chance that this a new iMac M1 revision with more ventilation. Although, probably not.

The dent is a small defect. I would pass over it if everything else is fine. The screen I don't know, would be nice to know if all have that little gap around (I've yet to receive mine). Do you have the possibility to check a local shop for demo units?

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Yes, I have decided to request an exchange. Next week Tuesday DHL will pick up the iMac following which I will be sent a new one. What I like is the fact that they have already started processing the new iMac order (which I can see in my Apple order status page) and the estimated arrival is 10th-18th August.

That’s an incredible turnaround time, I’m extremely impressed. I guess Apple actually enjoys customer retention.

went into the local store today and they had the blue iMac on a black gaming mat and although the black did accent the colour, the whole set looked cheap and didn't complement the blue iMac, my question is, what's people using for mouse pad to complement their iMac, pics would be good too,

thanks

I imagine a white mouse pad across the length of the keyboard & the mouse would look good and polished next to the white bezel? Or something like this, with colors that accentuate the color of the computer?; https://www.amazon.com/Auhoahsil-Ex...&keywords=mouse+pad+xl&qid=1627651527&sr=8-12

For my 'pink', I use a lot of red on my desktop. That's just my taste. The whole desktop is a mousepad.

Got mine today. Went for the VESA mount version and so glad I did, really clean look.

What VESA arm is that? I'm thinking about getting something like that and would love to be able to move the displays around according to the use case. Like moving the iMac above the others when playing games on the pc. Would that be possible?

It’s this one (Amazon UK but probably available wherever). Seems to be lots of flexibility and it has excellent build quality.
