Ordered a Blue 8/8/16/512 with the numeric keypad and Magic Trackpad on July 7th with an estimated delivery of 8/11-8/16. It quickly shifted to early August, and was actually delivered early on 7/26. Just set it up yesterday, and can’t wait to start truly using our first iMac!

I love the lighting with it! What is it?

I’m very pleased with my new iMac in green. Rather pleasingly, the back colour is almost exactly the same shade of green as my living room walls (you can see some of that paintwork in the second picture) and the green is enhanced by the garden and bush outside the window.

I think the colour is further complemented by the walnut of the desk and the rimu in this main room.

It’s also a fantastic computer!
Love your desk!

Received my yellow 8/8/16 1-2 weeks ago super happy with it. Upgraded from a MacBook Pro 2012 really loving the yellow and gold color. Looking to buy some type of riser to lift it up though.

So, about the desk pad, I see most chinese ones are around 80x40cm (just shy of 16" deep). Do you feel that 40cm is too distant for the base of the iMac to be comfortable to use and see? I feel it's a lot. Or maybe I could buy a smaller one (60x35cm) but it's not wide enough. Something like 70x30cm would have been great..

I don't have one, but having followed a lot of setup threads with iMacs over the years I notice that the colors of the new iMac give the computer a more 'personal' feeling. Some of them look right at home with setups because they are color matched with other things in the room, and it looks quite nice. Instead of everyone having the identical silver/black iMac. I didn't like the colors at first, but this makes me see some of the appeal of it.

After 2.5 months of waiting, here is my blue iMac!

I cannot stress enough how much I love this design. It blends perfectly with my navy blue desk, and the white bezels match the beige background of my room walls, so it is not distracting at all.

Using it for web and app development without issues until now. In fact, I can say that it feels like when I made the switch from HDD to SSDs; even the heaviest apps, like Photoshop or Android Studio, open in like 2-3 seconds.

Of course, my cat is not that excited with my new machine, as it gets a fair bit of my attention! :)

What specs did you get? I got a blue also. Didn't really care much about what color I got, but now that I have it, I do like that is blends with my light blue walls.

I love these. I really want one but it‘s hard to commit to a desktop 😭

The screen quality and the design really make it easy once you have it. It doesn’t dominate the desk. It definitely feels more like an accessory for the area you have it in. In fact I’m considering moving mine off of my “work” desk and into the main living room as it would compliment the eclectic contemporary design very well, and also encourage more family use. I think that this iMac finally achieves the vision that Jobs had back in 97ish for the line.

Good to know!! That yellow one is gorgeous 😍. I guess I'm too afraid to give up my laptop (having two Macs feels excessive for me). But I have an iPad Pro and I feel like it's redundant with my Air, and I need an iPad for art. I like to use my MacBook on the weekends for my craft space, so I could easily see myself getting used to an iMac in a dedicated space.

Years ago I felt like two Macs were excessive, but have had an iMac + MacBook/Air since and its great if you can afford to do it. Easy bouncing between devices with everything in sync using iCloud/iCloud Drive.

The only negative is not being able to do extended desktop like you can when docked to a monitor, but Mac to Mac AirPlay and Universal Control in Monterey will make that a non-issue for the most part. Having to update two machines whenever a software update comes out isn't fun, but its manageable. I don't have an iPad, so can see how that additional device makes everything feel like overkill.

Ultimately, an Apple branded external display for a reasonable price paired with an Apple Silicon MacBook Air/Pro would be the best setup, but that doesn't exist so this is the next best thing.

Been following this thread since it began. I love everyone’s set up ☺️

After months of waiting, I’ve finally been able to get my hands on my own iMac. I also created a video about what having the iMac means to me —

Thank you everyone for tiding me over with your set ups. I feel really inspired by everyone who’s posted and will begin building my setup to complement the new iMac.

I like this way of working a lot too. Big, high-spec desktop with a ton of storage and backup -- paired with a "satellite" laptop with minimal specs. As you say, iCloud makes the whole thing work more or less seamlessly.

For a number of years I was docking a laptop to a big screen, external storage, all that... but honestly it was a pain. Now I just casually go from iMac to MacBook Air to iPhone without really thinking about it.

Nice desk. What model is it?

Thanks. :) What model is the desk? Or the iMac? lol

The Mac is the top level, with the bump to 16 GB RAM.

The desk is the "pieced together with butcher-block countertop from IKEA and a pair of cheap file cabinets from Target" model, lol. But we have it bolted to the wall The whole thing fills an alcove, nine and a half feet long, and drilled cable pass-throughs. It's seen a lot of action at this point. What you don't see off screen is my work setup next to it. Which I hope won't be there too much longer. Any day now...
