Going a bit off topic here but is that a reason to concern about it? I don’t mind the whine as I always keep the brightness at max but will it create another problems in the future?
Nah, it's coil whine, and every single M1 iMac out there has it to some extent. It will not increase nor it will create any problem, it might just be a tad annoying when using the computer at night in a silent room with low brightness. I'm not condoning it, it shouldn't be there, I can hear it crackle even when doing crops or picking colors in photoshop, but I can live with it. Weird that so few notice, the whine from where the usb-c ports are is quite obvious.

My M1 iMac is the quietest machine I've ever had, aside from the fanless M1 air. Maybe I just got really lucky with a good specimen? I can't hear any coil whine or fan noise from where I'm sitting, and I'm totally anal about computer noise. I've had much worse coil while with other Macs - the 2013 nMP was by far the worst offender!

Yeah, I don't hear it either from 1m distance. I *can* hear it at night, but my IKEA smart led bulbs make more whine so it's fine. If you want to hear yours, just put the brightness at 40% and go with the ears behind, near the usb-c ports. It's not a huge issue, but still, it's also a shame.

Pretty well the only time I can hear mine is at night without the overhead lights on (which is virtually never, as if I'm working I have the lights on). Probably I could hear it if I tried in the day/with lights on, but there is almost always something else making more noise (fan/fridge in the next room/slight buzz from lamp next to the desk/the usual background noise during the day). I rarely have the screen brightness over about 50% as I dislike bright light. I love my iMac :) This is my second one, however; the first had quite an annoying whine.

Here's the yellow one we got for my son's room.

Finally got to see the blue in person after seeing the pink a couple of weeks ago. The blue looks LOTS better than the pink although I think it would look even better if the entire chassis were the same colour and finish as the pedestal. Indeed the pink wasn’t bad but it, too, would have looked far better if the whole chassis had been the same colour and finish as the pedestal.

I agree. I really don’t think the two tone approach worked quite as they had hoped it would. Either go all bold, or all pastel. Also throw in a logo on the chin while you’re at it, it still just looks like they forgot to add it to me.

Mine came yesterday. Very happy with it.

One strange thing though, it didn’t have the paper wrap covering the device. Only the hello screen cover and all the plastic wrap.

Now with teal keycaps to match.
I was in the Apple store yesterday picking up a new iPad Pro. And I had a good look at the new iMacs for the first time. And I am considering it and one in green! I thought I’d prefer the blue but thinking about it the green is really nice. It works well. I was thinking of the new upcoming Mac Mini Pro. But I’ll look at the M2 iMac as it’s a really nice compact all in one. Apple did a very good job on its redesign I think.

I was also set on getting the blue one until I checked them out in the store. Still very happy with my final choice!
