What kind of keyboard is that and where did you get it?

is that the OWC stack? how does the Mac Studio sit, pretty flush similar to the Mac mini?

So far so good. Although I have been having some issues with the Logitech mouse, the scroll wheel just stops working. Hopefully Logitech will provide a solution or I may have to send it back.

The 32" monitor on the left is connected via USB-c (not a thunderbolt supported monitor) and the monitor on the right (which is a fairly old regular old HD monitor) is attached via HDMI.

where did you find that purple cutting mat?

all cool setups.

I bought one of these also... have you tried the picture-by-picture mode??

I was gonna use 2 usb to DisplayPort cables... then toggle back and forth between single screen and double screen depending on the project.
Yes, It’s very useful being able to have screens for 3 systems up at the same time. I have a PC, Mac Studio, and M1 Pro MacBook Pro. Using the 2 usb-c to DisplayPort cable should work fine.

The purple cost me a few extra dollars, but I love it.

Unfortunately, After my 1st Mac Stdio, which was swapped out for my second, were now both returned because of the annoying whine beeping and chipping. Here is my new set up. Completely quiet now. The fans don't even show they come on.

Sorry to hear you had 2 bad Studio units. Did Apple let you return it after the 14 day return window, or were all your exchanges within 14 days? I ordered a Studio that should arrive in July, but I'm thinking to just go the MBP route instead.

The funny thing is I bought the second one online while talking to the to Apple service about my problems with the 1st one. The rep got kinda pissed at me as they wanted to resolve the issue by me sending in and waiting a month for a new one. I told him I was returning and had purchased online already. The second one my Local Apple store said I could return after the date because eI was out of town. The 14 day window ended earlier then I had thought though. It ended the day I bought online and not the day I picked up. I looked on line and my order stated I was past the return window but still showed a button for return. I clicked it, printed the label when I got home, and dropped it off at FedEx that same day. Props to Apple for having such a big window. I don't know how they do it. I got the base 16" based on all the reviews showing the exporting times were mostly the same maybe a little longer. Ill take the silence any day of the week. You won't be disappointed with either config of the 14" or 16" MBP. I'm 1000% on that one. Might be the best product they've ever made.

Glad it worked out for you, but that's one big frustrating mess. I'm typing now on my 14" MBP M1 Pro 16GB RAM. This was a replacement for my MacBook Air that I use everywhere (kitchen, couch, travel, etc.). Traded my 5K iMac for apple credit to order the Studio Display and was planning to buy a Mac Studio.

I just tested again one of the most intensive tasks I do: Merging panoramas in Lightroom. I merged 10 Sony A7RIV 61MP files to create a 394MP file. The fans didn't even come on and the computer only got slightly warm. Completely silent. Despite the fact that I want a desktop to replace the iMac, it proves I don't need one. When the ASD comes, I can run an ethernet adapter and some USB-C adapters for my external hard drive and Logitech Unifying device, and I won't even need a dock.

Only concern is someone spilling another beer on it when it's in the kitchen. Already happened in week 2 during a FaceTime with family. Less risk with a desktop stored away in the office.

is that the OWC stack? how does the Mac Studio sit, pretty flush similar to the Mac mini?

I decided to take a picture of my setup with the OWC miniStack STX. It sits perfectly on top. I decided to add some rubber feet on the bottom of my Mac Studio (as suggested by another poster on the forum) to prevent any sliding, which also slightly raised it up a bit. Besides giving some extra grip, it probably also provides a little better air flow.

Where did get the rubber feet for the Studio?

Also are you using the MiniStack for storage? How large of an SSD/HD did you get?

My setup. I switched from mini. It's a little louder ......
I wonder if you mounted it under the desk, would it reduce the noise even more...

Try moving the Mac Studio towards you 5-10cm .... the noise coming out of the vents is going to bounce quite effectively off the wall, a bit of a gap could make all the difference even though the Studio is closer to you (it's a guess, suggested if nothing else to find out the answer)

Not confusing, just compared to the mini. The mini was silent.

was just a quick and easy suggestion .. I've got 3x M1 Minis and a Studio Ultra stacked on top of a turned off JBOD box behind my main 27" screen, orientated with their vents towards the centre of the screen ... I'm sat 50cm from the screen and I can hear absolutely nothing from all of them (as long as the fans are set to auto), though the Synology RS NAS sat 40cm from me may be drowning it out 🤪

Just as I suspected. I have yet to see anyone with 2 Studio displays just for 1 Mac(the setups with 2 displays are utilizing it for 2 Macs).

Thats been my main issue with the Studio display....Apple showing product advertisements with 2-4 Studio screen setups but its completely ridiculous to pay for redundant webcams, speakers, iOS cpu for a multi screen setup. They really need a cheaper stripped down version for the extended displays.

I use two Pro Display XDRs on a single Mac - one in portrait mode and the other in landscape mode. As a full-time iOS developer, this setup is extremely satisfying and productive for me. I'll be switching from a 16" MacBook Pro M1 Max to Apple Studio M1 Ultra later this week. No question the cost of this equipment is high, but that's the only downside. The experience is excellent, and my workflow is a good fit. So to me the cost isn't exactly a downside, as I'm willing to pay more for the higher quality I get from Apple. Granted, I buy the store-brand yogurt because I'm cheap in other ways.

I use 2 x LG 32UN880-D displays with my Mac Studio. One in portrait mode and the other in landscape mode. This is by far the best configuration for me while working with Pro Tools and Logic Pro X as allows me to have the Edit window in the portrait mode display which will show more tracks than in landscape mode and the Mix windows in the landscape display which will show more faders. If you get used to work with dual displays, there is no way to go back to a single display. BTW, the pair of LG 32UN880-B Ultrafine are going to be replaced next week with a pair of ASDs VESA Mount. I need the sharpness of the 5K Retina back because after 5 years working with my iMac 5K, I can't get used to a Non Retina display.
