I have a little over 18,000 songs in my collection and on the iphone it doesnt display even 1/8th of them. Does anyone know of a limit as far as the amount of songs it will work with? The desktop software sees all of the songs and shares them appropriatly.

The iPhone has to build its own database even after all of your tracks have been scanned in via the desktop client. With 18000 tracks you're going to need to plug it in and let it sit somewhere for a while.

I really can't figure what did i do wrong any more, i did a lot of work before actually posting this.. i would appreciate it very much if anyone here could lend me a helping hand to fix my problem. :( please, i am running out of idea already.

Alright, my case starts:

1) I have all my musics in I:\ and they are all placed into my itunes playlist.
2) had Simplify Media install and ready to use. Under sharing tab in option, i check on iTunes library and playlist(hoping that it will then sync all my music & playlist from itunes), but it just doesn't work(showing "NO PLAYABLE AUDIO") :(
3) At the same time i am able to see all my friends music.
4) went on to troubleshoot:

-The file scan found no files. Please review your library or folder sharing settings.
-The Troubleshooting tool could not retrieve the number of files you are sharing. This could happen if the application is not yet connected or is in process of updating this information. Please wait and run the Troubleshooting tool again. If the problem persists, please select Report Issue.
*-The application is reading the iTunes library file in the following location: C:\Users\Johnathan\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml*

5) From the last reading of troubleshoot, i thought it might have something to do with the itunes music folder, since my itunes folder being in C:\ drive it might not be able to locate my music which are in the I:\ drive and so i changed itunes music folder to I:\ drive instead(since all my music are there).
6) BUT again it didn't work as well

However, all of this wouldn't be a problem if i check on "My music folder"(under sharing tab) and add I:\ as my additional music and playlist, but this would just make one list of all my music(which consist of 8000 of them).. i tried playing around with the playlist sharing option available there, but it still didn't work.. :( what i really want is to have a playlist like all my other friend does, i don't want my friends to search through my entire library all the time.

PLEASE, anyone have any idea how to fix this, please do let me know.. i am desperate in getting this fix! :( i really hope there is a solution that all my playlist would appear to my friends just the way i am viewing it in itunes instead an entire music library.. thank you in advance for those who try to help, really appreciate it!

When I first installed simplify and set up my itunes library it didn't take more than 5 minutes to load/build my database of ~14000 songs all in Apple Lossless. Now when I load Simplify it is incredibly slow loading my database. I let it run for an hour or so and it had only scanned ~4000 songs.
Is it the overloaded Simplify servers that are causing the long database building times or something else?
For those that have large music libraries, how long does it take Simplify to scan and build the database?

Nice app....I'd like Apple to work it into the iPhone one day, but its pretty nice as is. Also its cool to be able to share iTunes music from my Mac to my Linux PCs

Help! My 'ServerDatabase.db' files keeps resetting, requiring me to rescan my library again which takes a few hours and is killing my harddrive. What is going on?

I have approx. 6500 songs and it takes the SimplifyMedia app about 10 minutes to scan my iTunes library on my PowerBook. Once completed, I kick off the iPhone app and let it wait 5-10 minutes for it to re-sync the database and then away I go.

This is an amazing app. Demonstrating the ability to stream my music library has impressed quite a few non-iPhone work colleagues.

It would be better if Apple didn't restrict background processing so that we could listen to our streaming music when using other apps, but hey ho, I'm sure they'll come round to the idea eventually.

Are all you folks really leaving your computers on all day just to hear a few songs? I have a G5 Quad, which eats some pretty serious wattage. If I left it on all day, I can only imagine what my electric bill would be.

I cannot access my own library, but can get into slap.guts' library with no issues at all.

I have tried everything to fix the issue, from re-installs to reboots of both devices. I have also reset a couple of times, to no avail. Please someone tell me this is a server issue on the backend with Simplify, as I'm at the end of my rope with troubleshooting.

(and yes, I have sent two separate trouble logs into simplify, and haven't heard back yet - though I know they are slammed and don't expect a quick response.)

just wait for your library to load, WAIT. Sometimes it takes minutes for it to do so if you have a large music library.

All DRM not created equal...

I have a bunch of DRM surprisingly appearing and working from the iPhone.
I believe it may be the higher bit rate songs, ones above 128K the 256K ones.

I'm going to have to look at it closer. (Okay it's confirmed. All my 256 iTunes Plus downloads are running just fine. Only the 128K stuff is a no show.)

I really wanted to have this ability via the iPhone. That it's come so fast is pretty darn great.

Are you serious?

I have not turned off a computer in probably 20 years. I have 4 of them here right now.

I'm not talking about powering down, I'm talking sleep. I assume that I would have to disable sleep to keep the simplify connection open?

I've got 2 computers here that never get turned off or go into sleep mode.

Simplify Media just doesn't work for me. The program on my MBP seems to be running fine. It has indexed my 7716 songs. The program on the phone however, just says "Connecting to libraries..." and never goes further than that. :(

i'm pretty phsyced.I went for a walk with my dog yesterday and was able to listen to an acoustic version of one of my favorite albums while walking, which meant i ONLY had edge, and everything worked GREAT.. it was only a few seconds of buffering.

The only issue was when i walking into the beach which is a complete dead zone because it tried to go across the water to Long Island new york, but other than that, the entire time I had a decent signal, i got AWESOME results. VERY VERY happy with this.

I am just curious though, i would LOVE to know if my libraries still show on other people's lists when i close my MBP. It seems like people are still able to connect because i close it and when i re-open, there are new people listening to new songs of mine.

Haha, same.

I downloaded it then thought "hang on... all the music I'd WANT to listen to is already on my iPhone".

Facepalm >.<

Yeah, out of my 4700 songs or so, only about 700 are actually really good haha.

Yuppers...I still see yours. It is based on Simplify being open, not iTunes. You can close iTunes and others can still access. The only time I have not seen yours (to the best of knowledge) is when you have shut down simplify or turned off your computer...if you have done this. Not sure how Macs work. I know on my PC if I leave simplify open in the start bar, others are able to access regardless of whether iTunes is open or not.

We could experiment since we share libraries, if you want.

i wasn't talking about leaving itunes opened, i was talking about leaving my macbook pro opened. So basically, if I physically close my laptop, does my library disappear. I actually have not shut off simplify media since i downloaded it, so i guess if it shows that its gone, then that would have been when i closed to laptop

So I left the "scanning libraries..." going through the night after troubleshooting, rebooting, re-installing, etc.; on the heels of the "WAIT" advice from moka. As of this morning, still nothing showing up for my library, and I still have the "scanning libraries..." message running strong. I only have 237 songs on this PC I'm testing with, so I have no idea what's wrong.

I'm usually pretty good at this stuff, but I'm at a loss. A day later, and still no response from Simplify regarding my error logs either.

256kbps songs from the iTunes store don't have DRM...
