Another downer .... Remote isn't able to find the Shares, so you can't use it to control music you're listening to via Airports in other parts of your house. Shucks. and I'm really enjoying listening to swanseastu's Amy MacDonald album. Guess I'm going to have to get off my butt...

it finally scanned my library and found everything but it still says connecting to libraries on my phone..??

Same thing on my iPhone. Looks like they are solving one problem at a time...

*EDIT* - Works completely now. Sweet!

Quit the app on your iPhone, then give it time... didn't show up for me at first either... but next time I launched app, all the playlists were there!

I went to bed. This morning all the playlist are back. Guess we just have to give it time to work in all those files and information.

One thing I noticed is that whenever you reboot the iMac, the Firewall notice comes up to allow the app access. It does it every time when I did more reboot tests... Wish it would just stay when you set it to allow access.

A question - what happens if you make any changes to your iTune playlists after the initial setup? Are those changes automatically updated or do you have to do anything to update them? This is without a doubt one of the best apps on my iPhone and that includes the ones that came with the iPhone.

Is there anyway to get it to just share a few playlist? I have over 7,000 songs and its taking forever to "search library" and on iphone "connect" even on wifi. I have itunes set up to only share selected playlist but Simplify still shows all my songs?

I hope Apple releases something like this. Not having access to DRM files makes it useless for myself. Almost all my music is bought from iTunes.

Hopefully, something will come out giving DRM access.

Hear you there. Lucky for me that I have less than 1000 songs out of 17000 that are DRM'd from Apple.

sounds like crap

It must really compress stuff even more than some internet radio, cause the sound quality is horrible!!!!

I imported songs after I already had it running and those songs showed up available for my iphone later on.

Can anyone suggest settings in iTunes (sharing wise) or on Simplify Media (maybe like whatever that Verbose Logging thing does), etc.?

Cause for the most part I haven't been able to see my library and if I have been able to, only like a couple hundred songs.

Any Help/Tips?

do you work for DotTunes? I just want to know if I'm getting an unbiased opinion here...:)

also, I did try DotTunes. I found the desktop interface WAY to confusing. I like that it is robust, but for what I wanted to do (just have acess to my library) i found it confusing with all the plug-ins, etc.

not to mention it appeared it would cost me $20 to get it work on my iPhone. and there's no native iPhone app--it's web only, so no bells/whistles like album art, lyrics, artist bio, correct?

if at least I could TRY the iPhone part without paying $20 I would. but $20 is way to steep for something I can't even try out.

I feel you there.

I have the same issue with many of the Apps on iTunes right now. Hope that maybe Apple will have an option to download and tryout a program free for a limited time. Given that they have the ability to kill a malicious app, they could also "kill" an app that you have not yet paid for.

I am able to see all of my albums, artists, songs, etc on my iPhone, but I don't see any of my playlists. Should I be able to see my playlists as well?

EDIT: After turning off my iPhone and back on, my playlists showed up in Simplify Media

Really? I would love to see you in a Pepsi Challenge.

But yeah that was my impression that SimplifyMedia just hands off the connection to your remote machine and the iPhone. No music goes through their server to get compressed. So 160kps will sound like 160kps it just might buffer more. Please correct me if I am wrong.

But if I'm right it goes to show that perception trumps reality every time. I guess that's how Monster Cable stays in business.

I sent an email to support this morning and got this reply about 5 minutes ago. All of the problems this morning were server related and according to the devs has been fixed.

This is my email and their reply:

Hey guys...great job on what everyone was waiting for!!! However, today we are having major problems. The MacRumor forums are going crazy with Libraries reloading every 5 min. iPhones are stuck on connecting to libraries and no one can seem to get going. Last night was sweet and all worked like a charm, today I haven't been able to listen to one sec of a shared library.

Request that you let us know what is up and you might want to go to the MacRumors Forums under App Store and inform your customer base, they are getting frustrated.

Thanks

Hi,

We are very sorry about this issue. Within hours after release on the AppStore we ended as a top 5 free app and have had an amazing traffic ever since. We have fixed a couple of server issues and things should be stable now.

Please try again and let us know if you are still having difficulties. Thanks,

Thank you for your patience!

Right before I got this, everything returned to normal and I have complete access again, my library has stopped all the loading. Hopefully we all stay operational with this super App.

Good Luck and Enjoy!

just as you were posting that, i checked back to play some music while at work and it popped up INSTANTLY!! they really ARE working on making the app good..

so does that mean our files ARE going through their servers and not just P2P??

Ya know what WOULD be nice though, to have a similar IM function to the desktop
