Loaded some tunes onto my iphone.
Played them through the iPod software connected to the home stereo and speakers.
Sounds excellent.

Played it though the streaming software...
Definitely compressed.
It lost a lot of the amplitude (which seems a little odd) had to turn it up a significant amount, plus thing like the cymbals had lost their crispness.

However, considering I was listening over a 3G phone connection, the sound is far from terrible. It's very listenable and it means I can load my favorites onto the iPhone and keep a back catalogue handy too :)

Love it!

p.s. the website says this thing handles Apple Lossless.... no way is it doing that without re-compressing.

Can anyone suggest settings in iTunes (sharing wise) or on Simplify Media (maybe like whatever that Verbose Logging thing does), etc.?

Cause for the most part I haven't been able to see my library and if I have been able to, only like a couple hundred songs.

Any Help/Tips?

I've got all of my music on an external hard drive, and the first time that I logged in on my iPhone, I only saw a few hundred songs as well (I've got about 6,000 songs on my external hard drive). Anyway, I'm not sure what Simplify was originally doing, but I think it was only looking at the "My Music" folder or the iTunes library file on my PC's hard drive (which had a few songs in it that were purchased before I consolidated my library on the external hard drive).

Go to the Simplify icon in the tray on your PC, and open the Simplify program. On the small window that pops up, click File - Options. Under sharing, you can click on the "My Music" folder and then it gives you the option below that to add additional folders for sharing. You can browse to any folder on any drive and add it to your sharing there.

That's how I solved the problem on my iPhone. Hope this helps!

i just had an issue connecting to my library, i think it was because i switched networks while driving to work. Turning on and off my phone worked PERFECT and now i am streaming from a friends itunes/

This also solved my "buffering" problem that a lot of others have also experienced. I set up my library for sharing while at home for lunch today. I logged in on my iPhone, and everything worked immediately using my WiFi network at home. Then, I tried it in the car on the way back to the office over 3G network. All of my songs were still showing up, but they were stuck on "buffering" when I selected them. "Buffering" continued for 15 minutes until I gave up and checked this forum for a solution.

I powered off/on my iPhone and tried it again. This time, the buffering lasted less than 30 seconds and all songs that I tried worked great!

yep.. works great, but i think you can also get a similar effect by just going to setting and turing on then off then on 3G or wi-fi. I dont know, i have a 2G and have had NO issues streaming through edge, but you need to really reset if you switch networks while streaming.

Not bad for a free App...almost all of my music fits on my device, though, so I don't know how useful it will be for me anyway...
Yeah, I see what you mean... On my iPhone, I only synced over my favorite albums and stuff I listen to the most. But then using something like this app, will free up a lot of space on your phone, leaving more room for videos and all the other apps that will be coming out over the months... So that's another way to look at it and works out great for me! :)

It worked great last night. I went to work and it won't connect at all today. It just says "connecting to libraries." Bummer. It was great while it lasted!

Well it's not doing much of anything for me right now. Last night it was working great, but I made some changes to some playlists and now it is only showing a small fraction of my iTunes library available. It's been that way all day. I assume it's server related and they are just overwhelmed with all the users. That seems to be the theme with anything related to Apple and the iPhone lately. It's MobileMe all over again, though this time it's not Apple. Vendors need to start realizing anything related to the iPhone is going to automatically require you dealing with huge numbers of users. Sheesh, why do I have to like such a popular phone .

For those of you, like me, that have an external drive to store your music on, how are you keeping your drive from going to sleep? It seems like after a few minutes of inactivity on my computer my external drive will go to sleep and lose its connection with Simplify and iTunes.

iTunes music purchased....

are you guys seeing the music you have purchased from iTunes on your iPhone when logged into your library? I'm not, and it says on the support page that you should be able to see/play the music purchased from iTunes..... Is there a setting I'm missing?

The program doesn't support DRM files from the itunes store... yet. Hopefully one day it will come.

so to use this app, you have to make sure that whatever computer you are connecting to never goes to sleep?

I have a little over 18,000 songs in my collection and on the iphone it doesnt display even 1/8th of them. Does anyone know of a limit as far as the amount of songs it will work with? The desktop software sees all of the songs and shares them appropriatly.

How long is this thing going to take? I'm stuck at 4683 files and I have about 38000 songs. Been active for 45 minutes.

Be careful. I fried my hard drive as it went through reading my 26,000 songs on my external. I let it run overnight thinking it would be done today. Came home and it's dead and flaming hot to the touch. sucks for me. Luckily I have a backup.

I'm a big user of my Top 33 playlist..the ONLY downside to this app is that it doesn't up the count of my songs after it's been played.

anyone know how to get the simplify media icon to the menu bar, and out of the dock? it has the box greyed out to put it in the menu bar. It COULD be because simplify media is still mounted...

Really love this app. It did take a while for all the songs to load... but I expected that with so many songs.

My question, is anyone having trouble seeing there playlist? I can see my artist and album, no playlist.

I had the box greyed out for me too at first. But then the next time I checked, it wasn't. Not sure what I did differently, but suddenly I was able to add it to the menu bar. (And the program was mounted in the dock the whole time, so that wasn't it).
