Switched over to X as my daily driver, will be selling my 7+ and 8+. Not purchasing any new iPhone's from Apple for at least 2-3 years unless I see some serious software enhancements.

Definitely upgrading to the XI+ with the 6.5" screen. Continuing the tradition of upgrading to the top of the line iPhone every year.... my treat to myself

Currently have an se and if they don't release an se2 then I'll most likely upgrade to the iPhone 7. If an se 2 is released then I will stick with the small form factor.

Unless my phone tanks, I'll wait for the next big thing - 5G. It's gunna be a while that's for sure. Targeting camera improvements as a reason to upgrade has hit max camera. They're good enough as it is. Not going to be a real draw in the future. What's gunna be the next cool gotta have it feature? Certainly not 8 core CPUs.

I usually make my decision after the Fall Keynote what I want to consider upgrading too. Personally, at this point, there isn’t much to discuss other than the rumored 6.1 LCD and 6.5 OLED model.

Iphone 8 ... with tvOS beta profile installed, going to keep this phone until the hardware breaks. No reason to keep giving Apple my money year after year when this one is good enough.

I’ll be at very least trying to hold onto my iPhone X for at least another year. Trying to get out of the upgrade every year Ruth, and hold onto a phone longer than a year. This would be my first time ever doing so lol. I had 4 different phones last year. I just usually end up using,y phone the same way I always have, and don’t regally find anything that astonishingly amazing about the features of the new ones. The appeal on the X for me was the screen. After using it now, I’ve become quite fond of Face ID as well. Much easier to use them Touch ID was, and Touch ID was a breeze. Using it now on my iPad, it’s just become kind of comebersome.

That profile is for tvOS, not iOS. You should remove it so that you can continue to receive iOS updates and remain protected security-wise

I think my phone upgrade cycles will end being 5 - 6 years, more like what I used to do with my computers (which have now gone to 8 years+).
I'm about the same. I don't see myself upgrading my 6 this year, and have no plans to upgrade my 2013 MBP either. Big part of it is due to me not feeling like Apple products are what they used to be. I've been debating giving the competition a try.

My honest advise....don’t. I did this last year and got the galaxy s8+. While for the first two months or so I was excited about it and satisfied with my choice, I regretted it soon after that. It led me to buying the iPhone 8plus when it released just to get me back to iPhone. Yes I hated it that much. Phone had some cool features and what not, but it was just a pain. It just wasn’t as well thought out and well put together as iPhones. Anyways, the phone I really wanted is the x, which I now have, and have had since release day, but like I said I bought the 8+ just to get back to iPhone, instead of just waiting for the x. I seriously couldn’t wait that much to get back to iOS. Nothing beats apples customer service.

I’m keeping my current phone - and I AM SURE.

The last option should not be tied to indecision in the poll.

I just finally retired my iPhone 5, which still met my needs quite well. It did everything.

The only reason I retired it, is because my iPod was stolen. And when I priced a replacement iPod big enough to hold everything I kept on my old one, it made more sense to just buy a new phone with the storage capacity for my music.

So I expect I’ll be on my current iPhone 7 for another 5 years. Honestly, Apple still hasn’t provided a compelling feature that would have made me feel like my iPhone 5 was inferior yet.

So it’ll probably still take them another 5 years or more to convince me that the iPhone 7 needs to be replaced.

Yes, I am aware of that. I do not wish for any updates atm.

ow common...Apple will release a new iPhone later this year and most people here who are now saying they will keep the their iPhone 8 (Plus) or iPhone X will eventually buy one shortly after the release.... like they do e v e r y
s i n g l e year.

it's a rinse and repeat every single year here at macrumors:

''no, I 'll keep my iPhone <insert number here> this year ''

a fews weeks (or shortly) after release new iPhone:

''anyone got their shipping info yet?"
''mine is in Kentucky right now, what about yours?"

:D

You forget MacRumors looking like it's suffering from a DDoS attack upon release announcement or preorder availability.

I'm stuck using my old 5 while my 6s that I've been babying is off to Apple for a battery replacement. I've been trying to hold out for a red 8 or X but I'm not sure I'm going to make it until my phone gets back.

Haha, well that is probably mostly true for many on Macrumors anyway.

If new 4.2" X-S is release, yes! Has to be flagship premium model. Prices should start at $1,500 and high end model $1,700!

I have the X myself and just bought my son one last week - I will be keeping mine and buying the new Apple watch when released. I don't want a larger X as I'm pretty happy with my current model.

The impulse to continuously upgrade alludes me. My 8 plus works great, does everything I want it to do and takes wonderful photos. No need to upgrade in the near future in my opinion. This bezel thing is just a snobbery thing. The ability to send my messages as a emoji does not really interest me.

If that is progress then I defer.

Perspective— beyond the first one, never paid full price for an iPhone. It is always a percentage due to selling the prior model.

Granted, not as great a deal as before Apple started selling new past models and financing deals.

Since iPX is a new durection, reselling margin should be higher for the first year, possibly more than $499, thus the upgrade cash out of pocket no more than $500-600? Possibly less.

not committed to upgrade.

We shall see.
