Sticking with my iPhone 8+ for the foreseeable future. I just came to it from my launch day iPhone 6. As long as the phone continues to work for me and is acceptably speedy enough for what I need it to do, I will continue to hang onto it.

I'm just one of those who don't always need the latest and the greatest.

Perspective— beyond the first one, never paid full price for an iPhone. It is always a percentage due to selling the prior model.

Granted, not as great a deal as before Apple started selling new past models and financing deals.

Since iPX is a new durection, reselling margin should be higher for the first year, possibly more than $499, thus the upgrade cash out of pocket no more than $500-600? Possibly less.

We shall see.

I would say it’s fairly rare for those who purchase an iPhone out right anymore. Those who do, obviously have the freedom of selling it when they want at their leisure without having to be concerned about any carrier commitments. But for somebody who upgrades annually, I would not purchase an iPhone out right, just due to the potential decreases in value rather quickly. But, the iPhone is the strongest selling smart phone for resale on the used market and they sell quickly if they are in good condition.

May consider the LCD or the Plus models if the screen size feels right. My daughter's 6 has seen better days, so I may give her my 7+.

Depends, I have the X but what can they be adding to the X2 to make it worth upgrading?

I don't want the plus and only maybe vastly improved cameras on front and back to match Pixel 3, 5G in UK, smaller notch, Face ID 2.0 and exclusive iOS 12 features might make me upgrade.

A new gold colour and speed bump won't.

I've had every single model and this is the first time i'm doubting it, the value of the X has dropped to half in the UK which is crap for those wanting to sell to pay for next model.

My 2 yr old SE will do its job for at least another year. It’s a great phone.
I rather have better software. iOS 11 has been **** for me. Please let 12 be good.

There's other devices that needs to be upgraded before the phone.
New iPad or iMac will be bought before the phone.

Unless there is a RED version that I can’t resist, fall will tell....

Difficult to say. I usually upgrade every year so will likely do so again. Having changed from a 7+ to an X I hope they keep the new form-factor as I like it a lot.

One unkown variable is the headphone jack on our two 6s+...what role that played in getting $360 or slightly more than 30 percent of the $869 spouse paid in 2015. For me, $320 I think and there was a chip out of the screen due to a drop.

I would not have upgraded to 8 series in 2018. only the X seemed a big enuf feature jump.

I'm still using a 5S and that's probably not going to change in September. I'd probably upgrade to an updated SE but I doubt Apple's going to update that anytime soon. Based on the rumored new phones coming out in September, I wouldn't buy any of them. The OLED phones are still overpriced IMO and the cheaper LCD phone is too big. I wish Apple would go back to making reasonably sized/priced phones.

The impulse to continuously upgrade alludes me.

Me too. I guess a lot of folks around here just love throwing tons of money at Apple every year. Either that or I guess they really love the idea of only ever renting their phones and never owning them.

If they get rid of the monobrow notch and introduce some form of in-screen Touch ID I might sell the 8 Plus and upgrade otherwise I’ll keep the 8 Plus.

I will be tempted to upgrade my 6S if this year’s models fit my expectation of my next new phone. With Apple neglecting the iPad mini lineup, I feel that I might have to go with a plus iPhone, so I will be looking to the rumored LCD model.

If not, I would be keeping my 6S and replace its battery.

Probably go for a 256 GB 8 on my renewal in July. I have chopped around a bit in the last year (7+, Nexbit Robin, GS8+, Pixel 2) and this form factor suits me best. Currently on a 7 provided by work.

I am an iPhone 6 user and will probably upgrade to the gen 2 iPhone X if the price really does drop.

If it's still $1150 for 256gb then I'll probably just get the LCD version of the new iPhones.

Instead of the X, I bought a 256GB red 7+ in November. I will probably end up buying the 8+ whenever the new iPhone comes out simply because the 8+ will be about $200 cheaper then the new one as was my 7+. I got it for $200 less then what the 8+ cost. I will avoid the X at all costs even if it means going Android 100%. I've owned a current Android phone every year since the iPhone 5 but have not always bought that years iPhone.

I still have a 6S+ and 6S, both I've replaced the batteries in back in November.

6S user... briefly updated to an 8 last year, but it wasn't enough of an improvement to justify the cost; also tried an 8+ but was just too massive. Didn't even consider the X as a grand was too much psychologically for me to spend.

So I am looking at the supposed LCD "X" style phone with interest as it could be the perfect update for me, depending on the cost...

Definitively, the Notch will be here for 2018 and touch ID under the display is not going to happen, which was confirmed by Craig Federighi that they abandoned that concept and Face ID is their future moving forward. The technology to have the Notch deleted under one year to consolidate the hardware for Face ID would be almost highly unlikely, which I believe the notch will exist for at least two more generations of iPhones.

Due to change my 7 later this year, and for the first time, I'm seriously considering a Galaxy S9+ or a Note 9

Can't help feeling that Apple are charging way too much for phones which are no longer ground breaking...Hardware and software are becoming less interesting every year. The phones even look dated.

Keeping my 7+. Between my limited interest, disinterest in the latest and greatest and the rising price points, I am good. If there is a new SE2 released in the next year, I'll consider downgrading to that especially if the screen is an improvement over the current SE.

Going forward, I'll spend as little as possible on iPhones and save the extra funds for Apple hardware that means something to me.

Yeah that is what I did. Actually was going to switch back to apple, for the ease of use the air pods and the watch but I am like why?
Money isnt the first factor because yolo but once I had the x in my hand I wasnt that excited and the only thing that was impressive was the size of the device.
