I'm a current iPhone 6s Plus owner.

I'm expecting no new Plus size iPhones with Touch ID and without the notch, so I will be buying the iPhone 8 Plus in September once Apple drops its price.

That phone will serve me well for at least 3 years, and hopefully Apple can step up their designs in that time.

My plans?
At launch
Watch self absorbed people fill up youtube with unboxing videos.
Maybe watch an idiot or two smash the new iPhone.
Read ifix it saying how impossible it is to fix.

Stop by here for the bash festival of it sucks and how expensive it is.

Then in November upgrade using the IUP and enjoy the hell out of it

1. Eagerly follow the leaks until the announcement.

2. Stay up till midnight and reserve my iPhone "10S" via IUP (have sworn off Plus models forever).

3.Turn in my X and collect my new phone at the store on launch day.

4. Repeat all of this next year.

Seems pre-emptive to call it when we don't know what the new devices will have.

Minor spec bumps are a no-go. FaceID vs TouchID seems to be a toss up. Notches are bad. OLED screens are end of life (microLED coming next year)?

I cannot say with certainty.

Micro LED is certainly not coming next year. Apple has been reported to be experimenting with micro LED, but for mass production, I don’t believe they even have any suppliers lined up yet and that technology still at least approximately a minimum of three years out. But undoubtedly, that will be the next shift from OLED to Micro-LED, likely with Apple Watch and iPhone being the primary.

If it makes pentile unnnecessary and gets rid of the PWM screen dimming then I look forward to the day...

Recent 8 owner, very happy.
Though could consider 9 or se 2-late 2019
Maybe I'll be patient and fulfil 8+ippro contracts and then review my ios devices.
Honestly the 'notch' idea doesn't do it for me at all

5S with 16 gb and a wonky battery here. I will stay on it for a month or so to see if any new phone announcements and then probably upgrade to an SE with lot of storage and solved battery issues.

Drastically? Doubtful. It might see a decrease or reduction, but Apples pricing usually is not _drastic_ with any of their pricing tiers with the iPhones or other product line. Apple is usually very conservative when they do make price reductions, as they still are mindful of their profit margin’s.

If the next phone costs less than the current price of the X which the rumors suggest, then the reduced price of the X would have to be lower than the price of the new phone. What do you think, the X will only be $50 less than the new offering? To me, $200 off the current price is drastic for Apple. I would wager it's at least that much of a discount if not more from current prices.

I'm betting the 2017 iPhone X disappears from the market JUST like the 9.7" iPad Pro did.

I think it's possible the 2nd gen iphone x will start at 899. Could be wrong though. I know it's been rumoured they could reduce the price by that

My goal is to upgrade to an SE2 - After walking around with a 7P for the last couple of years and comparing to an old 5S; I miss the size of 5S (SE)

- fits better in my pocket
- fits better for one hand use
- apps should scale
- battery life - better?

I don’t mean to come off as negative or be dismissive of your goal, but the SE 2 may never be a reality. Many rumors have indicated that it’s possible to see an SE refresh from March and up to WWDC 2018 in June, but those rumors have also been completely sketchy as well with renderings and fan-art they have not been very believable. So my point is, if the SE2 is not a reality, then what other options do you have.

Don't feel like playing screen lottery for an iterative upgrade. My second X has a great screen and I will keep it probably till 2019, unless there will be a really big discount.

The more rumors I keep hearing about the upcoming iPhone lineup, the more inclined I am to keep my current X. Knowing Apple, I highly doubt the new X models will have any earth shattering feature that I'll absolutely need (and I have no interest in a bigger X model). If they improved Face ID, that would be fine, but Face ID on my X works great as it is now.

Then again knowing me, I say to myself that I'm going to keep my current iPhone model and then when the new models are released, I cave.

Unless the next generation has significantly better battery life or an upgraded version of Face ID, I'm not too bothered. My last iPhone before the 7 Plus (which I loved) was a 6 Plus and I felt that upgrade cycle was about right. Switched up to the X just because I wanted a smaller iPhone without compromising on screen resolution or the dual camera setup.
