I would bet that if inspected closely, most if not all have microscratches at the least and some with more serious damages. Most JetBlack users are likely "over it" by now.

Those who are in denial, please chime in.
Lol I have silver showing on the bottom of mine from dropping it with the apple leather case on it. After the first scratch I stopped caring, it looks cool.

i remember when the iphone 3g and 3gs used to get microscratches too.

people didnt care back then. now, apple points it out, and people all of the sudden care!

I would love a jet black iphone 7. I don't have one myself...

So true! I do not recall having a case on my iphone 3G/S phones. I think it all started with the 4 having a glass back. At that time the only protection I had was a clear film installed by a mall kiosk (it was great!)

I just had to say I'm really loving the Best Skins Ever simple glossy back protector. It is cut well, really lets the shine and colour through, doesn't get fingerprints as easily as the original back, provides plentiful grip, and was easy to install with plenty of water!

Unlike the full wraps, it doesn't cover the full sides of the phone but gently angles up slightly around the sides.

Really loving my jet black iPhone :)

I'm only using a bumper on mine so surprisingly well. The bumper prevents it from getting scratched on my desk but it has picked up a few very superficial marks from being in my pocket but they're only visible under bright light. I was going to put a skin or full case on it but life's too short.

I've been using a Spigen clear case since launch day. I take it out every week or 2 and gently wipe it down. So far so good. Zero scratches & looks brand new.

Mine has a ton of scratches.......not on the jet black, but on the screen. I've dropped my phone too many times already. At this point, don't really care anymore. Got AC+ anyways to bail me out.

I've had mine for 1 month, and it has not a single scratch on it, not even a micro-abrasion. I do use the leather case from Apple. Usually while at my desk I remove it from the case and use it in all its naked glory. Then when I step out, I give it a quick wipe with a microfiber cloth and pop it in the case. I realize the case is lined with microfiber, but still like to make sure that no little pieces of dirt etc are going to scratch it in the case.

I'm probably babying my phone more than most folks want to, but I feel like I get the best of both worlds. I have a really slick finish and put just enough effort into keeping it pristine. I am also on an upgrade program and will likely get rid of it in 1 year, but I've almost made it a personal challenge to see if I can keep it pristine during that time. Will post here again in a year when it's time to upgrade.

Edit: I will say that while it has more grip in the hand, that tack doesn't translate to when it's laying on a couch, etc. It is still slippery as hell in anything other than your hand.

I'm also using a bumper too! Did you get the rhinoshield as well?

My jet black has held pretty well, I like being able to still get a grip while having the lay on desk protection from the bumper case.

I have my JB 7+ since launch day and only use a case while @ work. No screen protector either. I know some wanna protect their investment but me personally, it's my phone and it's beautiful so I wanna see it. I have many scratches and the micro abrasions but you have to catch the light at the right angle to even see them. It's a phone and I'm not gonna baby it. That said I do upgrade every year so maybe that's not as feesible as those who keep their phones 2+ years.

Out of curiosity, how is the bottom of your phone holding up, due to the  case? I know the bottom of the device is exposed with those cases. I have been thinking of picking up a black leather case for mine, I just don't want to see the bottom of the device covered in a ton of scratches.

I believe the material used is vinyl, similar to what they use on cars. It's durable, grippy, and allows the colour to be shown. I place my phone on desks, in the car centre console, anything really. Every night I like to give the phone a wipe with a microfibre cloth and it looks pristine!

Nary a scratch on it! I do worry about that, more about fumbling around with the Lightning connector in the dark when charging it before bed and scratching it that way. Although I don't know that the edges of the connector are sharp enough to do so.

I have dropped it once or twice, but in my experience these things are top heavy and tend to land on the upper corners. I do have a couple of nicks in the leather from the fall, but the phone itself is pristine.

I really, really thought I would care. Heck, I returned my first one because it was scratched out of the box. Now, I have a couple "micro scratches" and... you're right! You just get over it. I don't set it precisely on microfiber cloths anymore, or make sure I have a perfectly clean pocket... I just use it! So much better.

The back is full of small scratches that are visible under light (no case). I honestly couldn't care less though, it's just a phone.

Mine has no scratches or dents on the bottom. Jet black 7 with black leather Apple case, looks really sleek but no scratches.

7+ JB still going strong had it since November and in an Apple leather case it looks fantastic. Thinking about a cheap waterproof case (I know it's mostly waterproof) mostly to keep sand off the finish at the beach and as an extra line of defence on water. Any experience on this sort of case? Preferably one that won't create it's own scratches!

Just bought a jet black iPhone and it was immediately covered with a matte black case lol.

Without a case it slipped out of my pocket at least 4-5x yesterday. Slippery.

Is it safe to say that Apple branded cases generally prevent scratches from the bottom of the JB iPhone (compared to cases without the microfibre lining)?

What's the point of buying the Jet Black if you cover it with a Matte black case. Just get a Matte Black 7 Plus and use it caseless

I totally agree. They were all out of the matte black 128gb and only had one jet black 128 gb left soo...

They should change to the name from jet black to black ice.
