Apparently back and forward hide until there is a back or forward to move to and then automatically they appear. They are there, but i still like the trackpad gesture better (two finger swipe). View attachment 1789861

I don't mind all the safari changes on macOS because I basically just do keyboard shortcuts for almost everything in Safari, but on iOS/ipadOS the new design choices are really unintuitive at a point I can't believe the high end developers at Apple came to this idea after a reunion lol. In this case, the expression "if its not broken, don't fix it" never was so true. The refresh button is now removed from the toolbar from all devices in this years OS updates. iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. It is now hidden in the address/search bar which shifts with the open tab which is hard to find in all cases except iOS which is where the new Safari is best implemented.
the solution is supposed to be that you will drag down to refresh on all devices, including the desktop, but for some of us that doesn’t work. Pull to refresh doesn’t work in macOS on my 2019 MacBook Pro. If I hadn’t been told about the feature I wouldn’t have known to submit a bug report.
Whats worse about macOS is that there is a fairly large toolbar on what is a fairly big screen. Not allowing people to customize their toolbar by adding a button is silly. Especially given that the pull to refresh might not work. But at least the tabs and address/search bar work fairly well in iOS, less so in iPadOS, and it’s a disaster in macOS; I think toolbar customization is the least of safari’s problems in macOS.I don't mind all the safari changes on macOS because I basically just do keyboard shortcuts for almost everything in Safari, but on iOS/ipadOS the new design choices are really unintuitive at a point I can't believe the high end developers at Apple came to this idea after a reunion lol. Excellent! Very pleased to hear this. That is one of my favourite features of the Opera web browser.Refresh is now a pull down, like it is in most apps
Just be certain to try it out. It doesn’t work in Safari on my 2019 MacBook Pro.Excellent! Very pleased to hear this. That is one of my favourite features of the Opera web browser.
Please tell me there is a close all tabs button, like the one we’ve been missing for the last 100 years on the multitask screen 🤦♂️After using the new Safari on the iPhone there's no way I'm going back. This is a massive improvement for the way I use the browser.
In the past, there was no way to return to the favorites page after you clicked on a link. You'd have to close the tab and open a new tab to get to your favorites or press the address bar which was impossible to do with one handed use. Now, since the address bar has moved to the bottom, I can press it on single handed use and get to my favorites instantly. Plus, the tab groups are very useful. This upgrade is a game changer in usability.

If you long press on the tabs button on the bottom right, you get Close All Tabs as the first menu choice.
Look you are right 🤦♂️😂but that’s been there since at least iOS 14 right? That is, not a new iOS 15 feature. I can’t remember which iOS introduced it exactly.

It’s gonna be a some who dislike the design choice and some who do. Me personally… I like them, I can understand what Apple were trying to do with Safari. I haven’t tried it on the iPhone, but for the iPad… the focal point in new Safari is the tabs and address bar.I don't mind all the safari changes on macOS because I basically just do keyboard shortcuts for almost everything in Safari, but on iOS/ipadOS the new design choices are really unintuitive at a point I can't believe the high end developers at Apple came to this idea after a reunion lol. I’m truly glad it works for you. And I will say it’s not as disruptive as it is in MacOS. But I still don’t think it’s great for iPadOS. I also think there’s enough space to allow a toggle on iPadOS to take it or leave it. But then again I think there’s enough real state on MacOS for a toggle as well. I don’t see why it can’t be either or depending on user’s choice. It’s gonna be a some who dislike the design choice and some who do. You claim as Safari changes being unintuitive… which you have every right to have that thought, but I actually think it’s intuitive. For example, how tabs change based on which tab is active. As I mention, I can’t really speak on iOS… but as far as iPadOS version. I think the design choice is thoughtful, but this is the 1st beta…. it might change over time.
My muscle memory keeps wanting to reach for the top to enter a URL, but I think it’s for the best that the address bar is at the bottom now.
You still tap the address bar once to get to favorites. It's even easier now, since the address bar is at the bottom. Reaching bookmarks is harder, but I see no point in using bookmarks instead of favorites. Is there a faster way to get to my list of favorites/bookmarks? In iOS 15's Safari, you have to tap the bottom of the screen to get the address bar up, then tap the URL, then reach all the way to the top left side of the phone to press the bookmarks button. Wasn't it just a single tap pre-15???
Well, it's faster to scan a vertical list than to scan a grid of icons up/down plus left/right. And it took (at most) two taps to get there before, and now it takes 3-4 (including a cross-phone stretch to the opposite corner of the screen - not the opposite side, but the opposite corner entirely). I'd say it's far more difficult now than it used to be (difficult comparatively, of course). You still tap the address bar once to get to favorites. It's even easier now, since the address bar is at the bottom. Reaching bookmarks is harder, but I see no point in using bookmarks instead of favorites.
I’m curious… what exactly are you looking to toggle on/off?I’m truly glad it works for you. And I will say it’s not as disruptive as it is in MacOS. But I still don’t think it’s great for iPadOS. Its two taps, similar to how it was before. It’s just in a different location.Must you invoke the sidebar in iPadOS to switch to private browsing? It’s an awful slow and clumsy approach. Am I missing something?
I did not know this - that's awesome!Refresh is now a pull down, like it is in most apps

I think there should be an option for both macos and ipados to toggle on/off a dedicated address/search bar.I’m curious… what exactly are you looking to toggle on/off?
