I'm really excited for the 6.5 X. I've used a Plus variant since they came out and I've always wanted that screen size in the regular form factor which is why I loved when the X came out. After almost a year of having the X, I've grown accustomed to the narrower screen but I still really miss the extra width of a Plus model. So the new "X Plus" is really just going to be perfect. Hopefully it'll have the features that the Plus versions have now, such as the landscape Home screen and Split Screen for apps. I never realized how much I'd miss those tiny features.

Also, I really miss the enhanced landscape keyboard. I never understood why they got rid of it and just left the ugly extra space around it.

Hadn’t even noticed this until you pointed it out! Maybe that’s why i’m not a true Plus user at heart - never use landscape mode.

I’m going to wait and see how I like the new X+ compared to my X. I’ve never been a plus sized phone fan but, you never know. If it comes with features only available on that model and they are important to me then I may make the jump. I am also concerned with the use of LG oled screens and the performance difference compared to Samsung. I’m sure Apple wouldn’t use LG unless it’s on par with the Samsung screen but, I love the screen on on current X and don’t want to have to play the lottery with the X+

Split screen for apps?

Landscape mode on the Plus models was one of my favorite things about the large phone! The home screen looks really great in landscape. It isn't great on the X since the screen is so narrow that it's pretty much pointless, the keyboard takes up almost all of the screen. So I'm really hoping the larger screen will bring back much of the functionality that was left behind.

Also, I really like the way the Notification center looks when you force it to come down into landscape mode. Control Center needs some work in my opinion. Lol

Never seen anyone texting in landscape mode, must be a real Danger Hiptop nostalgic user. (Yes that was a 2002 reference)

I think I’ll keep my iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung 8 Plus for another year.
I find it silly that the two major companies both have an 8+ Model.
The Samsung was gifted to me by Samsung as part of their Insights Program, and the IPhone 8 Plus is part of my work discount program.

I guess Split Screen is a funky term to use for what I'm talking about. Not the iPad multitasking feature, but the enhanced view of apps in landscape mode. Like this:
Can’t see the pic but do you mean like having 2 panels in the mail app?

Hahaha, you're right! I LOVED the Sidekicks.
I have large hands. When texting/writing a lot, landscape mode is more comfortable to me.

Yeah, I had to fix it. Lol.
And yes, the conversation list view and the body of the message/email showing on the same screen is really nice.

No it's gonna be way too heavy

While I respect your opinion about you thinking the 6.5 X will be too ‘heavy’, we really can’t complain about phones being heavy considering where they were 10 years ago that were much larger and thicker compared to where they are today. I would rather have the trade off of having a heavier phone if that means I can have additional battery power in a larger display with the 6.5 iPhone X Plus. I also think others adjust to the weight after a while, where they don’t even notice it anymore.

Personally i never managed to adjust to 6,6s and 7 plus size during summer. Never had any issues with its weight. Now with iPhone X after so many months i still can’t get used to its weight.....it’s very cumbersome to hold it. You feel like it’s dragging you down. So for me size is a less of an issue when compared to x’s weight or weight balance.....I hate it.

Its Macrumors so let’s discuss rumors. Post, leaks, and images are pretty solid that a 6.5”OLED IPhone Model will be released. Of course there will be. Apple procurement dept sources, the OLED Displays from Samsung and Samsung has been offering a 6.5” Phone since last year. (No under screen fingerprint sensor) that comes next year.

So do we really need it ? Having used a 5.8” IPhoneX I must say heck yes. I’d personally wait for next years with 5G but that just me.
Yes, it's no bigger in phone size than the 8 plus. But full screen. I want. The X is too small.

Where are you getting this info? Since the release of the Plus model, the regular model has always outsold the plus model. Perhaps in Asia, the plus models are more prevalent, but pretty much everywhere else (and overall worldwide), the regular sells more.

There's plenty of charts and graphs available via Google that shows this. Plus, during February's AAPL conference call, Tim Cook said that Q1-18 was the first quarter in Apple history that the most expensive model was the best selling model. That would imply that the Plus model has never outsold the regular model in any quarter ever.
No sir, the plus has been outselling the iPhone 8 for a long time now.

Going against the general consensus in this thread, i’m a current plus user looking to switch to the standard sized X variant in September. Much as I appreciate the screen size, the heft of the device is wearing thin now and I want something a bit smaller. Had a play with a demo model of the X the other day and actually quite liked the narrower form factor - and it didn’t really feel like I was losing much useful screen space.

The plus variants have never outsold the standard variants and I can virtually guarantee never will. The Plus sold way better than Apple expected - as confirmed by the initial supply shortages of the 7 Plus - but it remains a product that appeals to a limited niche. You only have to stand and take a visual survey of iPhone usage in a public place to confirm this.

See above. It has outsold the regular variants for a while now.

Cannot wait for the Plus sized X this year. Been loving my X tremendously, but a Plus sized version is going to be even that much more amazing.

I have a 7+ right now, and sometimes I find myself wishing the phone was bigger.

I'm all about that battery life though, so if apple can make a larger phone with much better battery then they can take my damn money!

My reply to joefoong post was that the plus model has not "always" outsold the regular model. Up until the introduction of the 8/8Plus, the regular model had outsold the plus model in every single quarter. This lines up with the analyst estimates as well as Tim Cook's statement in a recent conference call.

As for your links, both were written in Nov 2017. In those links, they indicate that the 8Plus outsold the 8 for 3 weeks. In subsequent quarters, the 8 outsold the 8plus worldwide. Both were beaten by the X.

So both you and joefoong are incorrect. The plus hasn't "always" outsold the regular and the plus hasn't outsold the regular "for a while now".

Q1-2018 Worldwide: https://appleinsider.com/articles/1...est-selling-smartphone-model-in-first-quarter

Q4-2017 US (I couldn't find anything regarding worldwide breakdown, but it's likely to be pretty close to US numbers): https://pocketnow.com/2018/01/22/survey-us-apple-sales-q4-2017-iphone-x-iphone-8

We should be seeing the Q2-2018 breakdowns pretty soon.

I am definitely going to acquire that X Plus.

For me, i'd be leaning on it being too impractical to carry around, so no.

If the 6.1" had all the bells & whistles of the two others though, i'd be very tempted, as i've held a 6.1" P20 Pro & the screen size suits my hands, but it'd be the biggest screen I could handle I think.

What would also tempt me with the 6.5" though, is if it had a resolution that supported full-screen, un-cropped videos (for typical YouTube video aspect ratios I mean).

Hmm that keyboard does look nice. Do the G-Board & Swiftkey keyboards also have enhanced layouts on Plus models?

No sir, you were incorrect. You said: "Since the release of the Plus model, the regular model has always outsold the plus model.". Key word, ALWAYS. And I was correcting you as it did not always outsell the regular model. You can try to reword however you like, but it's okay to admit you were wrong.

Also, it wasn't just 3 weeks. It was a full quarter which is 3 months. "the iPhone 8 Plus outsold the iPhone 8 in the third quarter of 2017." And because the iPhone X came out, it will be very hard for the plus to continue to outsell the smaller phone.

When the X plus comes out, it will outsell the regular model as that is where the demand is today with consumers. Mark my words.

OK, we're both wrong. I was wrong because I didn't realize that the first 3 weeks of sales, the 8plus outsold the 8. And yes, you were wrong too. It was only 3 weeks of sales. The article you link, written in Nov2017 referred to the 3rd quarter 2017, which is July-Sept. The 8/8+ was release on September 12. So 9/12 to 9/30 is about 3 weeks.

You're the one that said the 8 plus has been outselling the 8 for a long time now. That's outright incorrect.

EDIT - actually the 8/8+ were released on the 22nd, so it's only one week of sales.

I’m a fan of landscape mode also. I tend to alternate depending on what I’m viewing. Certain forums view better in landscape where on other sites, it doesn’t matter. I also like how it looks in landscape when I swipe pages left or right to go back to a previous page or return ahead. I used to sometimes text in landscape, but it feels more comfortable to me in portrait.

I’m on the iOS 12 beta now and the keyboard in landscape mode still has the blank space on both sides unfortunately. Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised when the X Plus releases.

You’re not accounting for new iPhone sales other than the 8-series. To prove your point you’d need to look at sales across the whole range and determine how many buyers went for plus models. And I can absolutely, 100%, cast-iron guarantee that doing so would clearly demonstrate that a sizeable majority of buyers opt standard.

The X Plus outselling the 2018 X initially wouldn’t prove anything either. 1) there’s a level of pent up demand for it, 2) it’s a brand new product whereas the 2018 X is an incremental refresh. 3) the LCD model will take more sales from the X than the X Plus.

Yes. Give it to me now.

This is such an American wet dream— “Bigger? Heck yeah!” and... “Gimme now!”

Is everyone so neck deep into their smartphone lifestyle that “bigger” will never be big enough? The iPhone X gave you your supersized XL screen in a reasonable package. But nope! From Expedition to Excursion.

What happened to living life separate from a phone? Walking around NYC you wouldn’t think anyone actually wanted to live here, the way people shuffle along staring at screens, licking windows with their thumbs.

Maybe a phone-sized phone isn’t as terrible an option as it sounds? Maybe get an iPad for “consuming media content”? A TV for watching movies? IDK, maybe that’s going too far. ‍♀️
