Personally i never managed to adjust to 6,6s and 7 plus size during summer. Never had any issues with its weight. Now with iPhone X after so many months i still can’t get used to its weight.....it’s very cumbersome to hold it. You feel like it’s dragging you down. So for me size is a less of an issue when compared to x’s weight or weight balance.....I hate it.

I think you mean you never adjusted to the ‘5.5 iPhone Plus’. But I see your point, The trade off having these larger phones with bigger displays, is there not convenient to always carry around in your pocket. I would much prefer a smaller iPhone with an OLED display, but that’s the options Apple provided us with the sizes of the Plus or 5.8/6.5 X.

Exactly. Summer time means less pockets and as a result it was difficult for me to carry 6,6s and 7 plus around. But I never had any issues when holding it and using it. I was loving holding and using it. With iPhone X is a different story....more easy to carry it around but i never believed that the increased weight of it would be a pain in the ass when using it.....i f hate its weight it gets my fingers tired. I

The 7 Plus is heavier than the X so i’m guessing it’s the taller body and weight distribution you’re no so keen on?

The 6.5" model should be the heaviest iPhone you'd think, with the amount of glass it'll have + bigger battery?

Apple, shut up and take my money!

The plus hasn't "always" outsold the regular and the plus hasn't outsold the regular "for a while now".

Q1-2018 Worldwide: https://appleinsider.com/articles/1...est-selling-smartphone-model-in-first-quarter

Q4-2017 US (I couldn't find anything regarding worldwide breakdown, but it's likely to be pretty close to US numbers): https://pocketnow.com/2018/01/22/survey-us-apple-sales-q4-2017-iphone-x-iphone-8

We should be seeing the Q2-2018 breakdowns pretty soon.
The plus people are so smug, thinking they have the most popular phone.

Not I. I like to have as little on me as possible when I’m out of the house (at home however I use an iPad mini in place of my phone). Also I prefer a phone I don’t have to balance to use one-handed, and with minimal grip readjustment. I would go back to the 4s form factor if I could, but I would be satisfied if Apple just keeps the SE form factor with spec updates. I like having at least one big bezel too, makes it easier for me to handle the device. Maybe I’m the only one.

Way too big. I don’t understand it. How on earth do people keep this in their jeans pocket!

Then again, I’m waiting for a new iPhone SE... Probably in vain.

OK, we're both wrong. I was wrong because I didn't realize that the first 3 weeks of sales, the 8plus outsold the 8. And yes, you were wrong too. It was only 3 weeks of sales. The article you link, written in Nov2017 referred to the 3rd quarter 2017, which is July-Sept. The 8/8+ was release on September 12. So 9/12 to 9/30 is about 3 weeks.

You're the one that said the 8 plus has been outselling the 8 for a long time now. That's outright incorrect.

EDIT - actually the 8/8+ were released on the 22nd, so it's only one week of sales.

Sorry, I wasn't wrong you were.

"Apple shipped 46.7 million smartphones in Q3 2017. The new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus accounted for 11.8 million of these. This falls well short of its predecessor, the iPhone 7 line, which topped 14 million in its first quarter. But while Apple shipped 5.4 million units of the iPhone 8, it shipped 6.3 million of the larger iPhone 8 Plus. This makes the iPhone 8 Plus the first iPhone Plus model to outship its smaller sibling in a single quarter."

You’re not accounting for new iPhone sales other than the 8-series. To prove your point you’d need to look at sales across the whole range and determine how many buyers went for plus models. And I can absolutely, 100%, cast-iron guarantee that doing so would clearly demonstrate that a sizeable majority of buyers opt standard.

The X Plus outselling the 2018 X initially wouldn’t prove anything either. 1) there’s a level of pent up demand for it, 2) it’s a brand new product whereas the 2018 X is an incremental refresh. 3) the LCD model will take more sales from the X than the X Plus.

I did. Look at the report and stop assuming.

Triple lens camera coming next year, which would be the biggest selling point for 6.5 model.

True, next year will be the big Must have. IMO why ?

#1. Finger print reader Under Glass a must have period.
#2. Improved Face ID system.
#3. Next Gen DRAM
#4. 5G compatible even if all the towers aren’t there it should last a good while
#5. USB-C but then again this year Model should have it too.
#6. Tripple Lens Rear Cam. Seriously who even needs a Camera anymore.

Will it sell ? Yes.
Is 6.5 a good size ? Depends on how wide it is. Some people have smaller hands

It’s a weird list.
1 and 5 will never happen.
4 will be in 2020

Yes. You're correct that the 8plus outsold the 8 in q3-2017. I'm not disputing that. However the 8 and 8plus were only available for sale for 10 days in that particular quarter. September 22 through September 31.

Subsequent quarters Q4-2017 and Q1-2018 had the 8 outselling the 8 plus. I was commenting on your assertion that the 8 plus has been outselling the 8 "for a while now .

Anyways, it's a moot point since the latest data coming in is showing that the 8 plus has passed the 8 back, at least in the US.

My opinion .. the plus it's benefiting because it's the only new model available in the larger size. The regular size is split between the 8 and the X.

There's no doubt that the plus size is popular. Should be interesting to see The model split when the new models come out.

I’m not seeing anything here that says I should wait until next year.

FaceID should be improved this year. With the 2018 5.8” supposedly replacing the current X, one would hope that more than just the processor, RAM, and a slight camera improvement would take place. With the Plus coming and iOS 12 allowing for a second face to be stored, I’m expecting some improvement to FaceID THIS year, not next.

If the triple lens camera does come in 2019, then I’ll probably move to that. The camera is one of my main concerns on any iPhone I chose and one of the main reasons I dropped the 6.1” LCD from any consideration.

2019 is ambitious for 5G. I’ve seen 2020. I know equipment is being installed now for both AT&T and Verizon, but I don’t know anything else about their timeline.

I was thinking about the new X plus, currently have the 8 plus, but we have to be truthful, the plus size is not practical for mobile use with it's size and weight, it fast becomes annoying lugging it around and needs thought before heading out, as someone mentioned the upcoming Xplus will be much heavier (probably 240-250g). The plus size is a home phone, the 8 size is all a person needs and for home a ipad, that's what my intentions are this September, X for mobile and the new iPad for home.

''bigger is better'' cause you know....Murica!

Personally, my iPhone X actually passed my max. when it comes to size and weight.
Imho, a smartphone should be easy handable at all times, I can not imagine a 6.5" will be easy handable.
A smartphone should/must adjust to my daily living, not the other way around ( = 6.5 inch smartphone)

But again, I know...for a lot of people ''bigger is better'' (not only with smartphones), no matter what.

Apple have already intimated they are done with touch ID and are focusing on face ID so I don't think we will see a FPS under the glass.

Don't see why they wouldn't improve face ID this year.

I think the rumour for this year is USB-C to lighting cable in the box for fast charging.

I have a purse , but even without one, I manage to hold it just fine. If I’m in a dress or a skirt, I have no pockets at all! It’s in my hand more often then it should be sometimes...

And ladies’ jeans hold even less than men’s. We may not even get pockets!
