True, next year will be the big Must have. IMO why ?

#1. Finger print reader Under Glass a must have period.

I really doubt this'll happen. Ever. FaceID is more secure and has been just as usable as TouchID on my X, sometimes even more so depending on the situation, and is definitely a more seamless experience when it comes to authenticating purchases, loading keychain credentials automatically, etc. Introducing all the massive complexity needed to have TouchID under the glass is simply not necessary, especially for a regression in security and a reduction in seamless experience.

#4. 5G compatible even if all the towers aren’t there it should last a good while

Not sure when this'll happen. Maybe next year, but we'll see.

#5. USB-C but then again this year Model should have it too.

I'd be surprised if this is going to ever be a thing. Apple seems to be moving to a 'no ports' ideal, and there's compelling reasons to do so.

That said, I love my X, I'm sure I'll love the X Plus (or whatever it's going to be called), and even as I'm loving having that X Plus OLED amazingness, I'll be looking forward to 2019's offerings as well. :)

When you have to think about what your doing, Where your going and what your wearing to accommodate taking an iphone with you, it's not right is it. God I remember my first smartphone (HTC hd2) and feeling embarrassed at the size of it when I was with friends and that, and how much bigger is the plus, I know bigger phone's have gotten more acceptable now, as well remember when the note came out, all the apple fans laughing at it's size.

Sorry, I wasn't wrong you were.

"Apple shipped 46.7 million smartphones in Q3 2017. The new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus accounted for 11.8 million of these. This falls well short of its predecessor, the iPhone 7 line, which topped 14 million in its first quarter. But while Apple shipped 5.4 million units of the iPhone 8, it shipped 6.3 million of the larger iPhone 8 Plus. This makes the iPhone 8 Plus the first iPhone Plus model to outship its smaller sibling in a single quarter."

I did. Look at the report and stop assuming.

My point stands. Your quote, and the article - which I did read - only gives a breakdown between 8 and 8 Plus. It does not detail how many of the 46 million total iPhones shipped were Plus models.

Its Macrumors so let’s discuss rumors. Post, leaks, and images are pretty solid that a 6.5”OLED IPhone Model will be released. Of course there will be. Apple procurement dept sources, the OLED Displays from Samsung and Samsung has been offering a 6.5” Phone since last year. (No under screen fingerprint sensor) that comes next year.

So do we really need it ? Having used a 5.8” IPhoneX I must say heck yes. I’d personally wait for next years with 5G but that just me.

I recently started using 2 hands for my iPhone X and enjoy it more than using one hand. So I’m thinking strongly of getting the 6.5.

For me, this is the keypoint in the whole discussion. I'll be a brick. I dont want that. Unfortunately, the majority of people doesn't seem to bother.

Why is it unfortunate if it doesn’t bother them? Why is it a bad thing for people to have something they like if it’s different than what you like?

I had every Plus model that came before the X. I love my X a lot, but I do miss the bigger size. I’ll be so happy to get back into a plus sized model... why is it unfortunate that I’ll be happy?

After having used the iPhone X for a year I really appreciate the ability to use the device (mostly) one handed, something that I found difficult on the Plus... possible, but difficult.

With that being said, I think having a bigger screen (and potentially longer battery life) is a worthy trade off when compared with one handed use. I know Apple would never go the Android route and give users the ability to 'shrink' the UI to a small movable box for on-the-go one handed use but I think that would be awesome for such a big phone.

There is never going to be a general consensus of why others appreciate a 6.5 iPhone X and others who think it’s too large. If you want a larger display and a bigger battery, then clearly the 6.5 iPhone X will be the choice for many, but if it’s simply too large for some, then clearly Apple has smaller iPhones that will suit everybody differently. I’m not even sure why others would disagree with each other considering we all have different preferences based off likes/dislikes.

For me it's the opposite. I currently have a Oneplus 3, which has the same size display as the iPhone 8 Plus but barely any bezels so it's physically significantly smaller. I still have issues with it in one handed use. I've enabled on-screen nav bar instead of the capacitive buttons a bit lower because it brings those controls higher and makes it easier to use. Reaching the top with your thumb is still a chore.

That's why I'm getting a smaller phone, probably the next gen iPhone X. I find myself using my phone with one hand most of the time when I'm out - either I am doing something with my other hand (holding a bag, holding on while standing on the bus, eating) or it's cold and I don't want to take off both my mittens.

I can understand liking larger phones if you watch a lot of videos or use it as your primary device. For me the phone is something to use when outside my home, I use my desktop or iPad otherwise so it doesn't need to be that large.

I would be on board with having a more advanced reachability feature where you can shrink the whole display rather than just bring the top area down.

Some of you are acting like the X Plus is going to be the next old school brick phone.

Maybe Apple should offer leather satchels and fanny packs as a part of the accessories to ease the burden.

While a good idea, I have to disagree. Fanny packs are reserved for groups of North American tourists to make sure locals worldwide can identify them as tourists from America. If they haven’t seen their white socks that is ;).

Haha! I’m glad you saw my humor... so no fanny pack, I can put you down for a satchel then, right, then. :D

I just read that LG's OLED displays for the 2018 iPhones are still in the testing phase and likely won't make it for the launch this fall. If this is true, those of you wanting the X Plus can maybe breathe a sigh of relief... that means Samsung displays will be on both devices :)

Well it’s a simple answer for me. These old eyes always think bigger is easier to see. So I’m in, thank goodness for the Apple Upgrade Program, I can get the next plus version next year.

I don’t believe that Rumor at all. Production for the iPhone X likely has already started or is in the imminent phase of starting at this time frame between July and August, I highly doubt they’re still in ‘testing phase’, being how many devices they’re going to need to produce. That’s one rumor, even days before that Rumor surfaced you’re referring to, it was also a rumored that LG will be supplying 2 to 4 million OLED panels 6.5 X Plus.

Yes, satchel for me, please! :)

I suspect that in 10 years time, we’ll find big phones as funny as we find flip phones now ie very much of their time!

Why? We’ll likely be using a combination of fold up/roll up phones and AVR glasses.

Thankfully it won't affect me either way ;)

Yes, absolutely. I had an iPhone X for a week last year and returned it because I missed the extra usable space of my iPhone 7 Plus. I won't be upgrading again this year if there's no X Plus.

You obviously can't read. Yes it does. 5.4 million were iPhone 8, and 6.3 million were 8 plus. There is your total out of the 46 million.
