For me, the iPad is a personal device, I don't need another user acount on my device. With the iPad Air 2 it would be cool for some people if they could share a device with each user's fingerprint opening up their own private session without it being a power hungry feature.

Running apps side by side on a tablet is a big "meh". You can eaily swipe between app windows in iOS and have a better experience in each app.

The overall awesomeness of the iPad Air without these features is multiple times greater than any Nexus tablet.

I can see how multi user would be handy if the tablet is used in a family setting. But personally I have no use for such capability. As for side by side or windowed apps I seldom even do that on my Mac, preferring to use apps in full screen. So it's not at all important that a tablet be able to do that.

After using a friends, still not sure and think I'm still swayed for the Z3 Compact instead. HTC and Google had a chance to really make a nice tablet, but not impressed. He isn't either and just returned his and kept his Nexus 7 and phone so he is a Nexus guy and for him to return the N9 says something.

Pretty bad light bleed on his which is a shame as otherwise the screen is very nice and vibrant, some of the buttons are installed ****** like the lower volume is almost flush and hard to press while his top volume was sticking out which quite a few people mentioned on XDA as well, though I didn't use it long he said the edges became uncomfortable and sharp/rough feeling which if you put in a case would pry fix that. The back does flex, but more important without barely trying this tablet creaks like some cheap pos. The 4:3 ratio not a fan of, I get how some like it, but for watching movies etc I wasn't a fan and when traveling I use my tablet on the plane instead of my laptop. He said it had to be the slowest charging tablet in the world, and apparently true b/c even at this high price tag they threw in a rinky dink regular phone adapter so if you want to charge "normally" you have to buy a separate one. Lollipop was smooth for the most part but noticed some hiccups and chrome froze and crashed on me twice in a row just clicking it lol, never had Chrome crash on my S5 stock or rom'd and I have my Chrome tab open with 13 tabs right now on my phone.

If they were charging less like how normally Nexus devices are always much cheaper then competitors and people just kinda put up with flaws, that's one thing. At this price tag, I just can't justify it, don't care that it's updated fast or I can flash this rom or that... when the flaws are still there at a high price tag. I mean god even my Sony Tab3 feels more solid and put together then the N9. So far the N9 has gotten panned in majoirty of reviews, heck even the hardcore Nexus/Android lovers have been disappointed in it, don't think I've ever seen a recent device with all the advances Android has made in the last few years get the hate/negative comments/reviews online that this has.

HTC/Google have some serious quality control issues. Some have even had replacements 2-3x on XDA with same or even more different issues. Some can be fixed with software updates, the rest is straight quality control in the factory that needs to be fixed. Tablet market just kinda sucks though, I want to upgrade from the Tab3 and only the N9 and Z3 Compact caught my eye, the Sammys are nice but the issue with rooting and flashing don't want to deal with that on a Sammy device anymore.

I was at Best Buy today checking out the Nexus 9 in display. First impression was "man, the power and volume buttons are hard to press :p"

I also noticed there was quite a bit of lag from pressing an icon to the app launching. I first cleared the multitask app list, went to home and tapped on Chrome. It took twice as long as my Nexus 5 to launch!

I wonder if it's Nexus 9 hardware's fault or if it's Lollipop's fault...

That seems to back up the negative review I read w/regard to poor performance. No way I'd buy one of those turkeys.

The fingerprints and ragged edges would drive me nuts.

Google's hardware has always been subpar. They just decided to charge double for it this time.

That seems to the case, it's pretty ridiculous that the N9 & N6 have poor battery life, build issues and poor performance in places, yet Google is charging far more for them this time around. I'm going to hold onto my N7, I want to see how it performs on Lollipop once it hits my device.

I was having some high hopes from this. Retired my Nexus 5 and upgraded to the iP6, and have been craving an android device ever since (I usually use both). The N6 is too big to be my daily driver and i was counting on this to be my next pure Android experience. I'll probably end up getting the Note 4 by year end..:)

The old Corvette body test. it doesn't bother me in particular, but it still shouldn't do that.

Except the Corvette's done like that in order to make it go as fast as it does.

The Nexus is just the manufacturer being cheap.

I do not have issues with my Nexus 9. The situation is such that the device is not portable enough like smaller tablets and the screen is not large enough to enjoy videos and games as much as a larger device.

Sometimes a tweener while the initial mindset is that it would be a very good option does not end up panning out. Folks trade off larger tablets for smaller ones for portability and vice versa for more enjoyment but the Nexus 9 gives me neither.

Those who are avoiding the Nexus 9 and besides the iPad Air 2, what other Android tablets are you considering?

I'm in the mood to buy something tonight and may head to BestBuy. Suggestions?

I've occasionally considered the Samsung Galaxy 8.4, as that seems to be the closest Android tablet I've found to an iPad mini. A lot of people despise touch whiz, but I haven't used a Samsung product to form an opinion one way or the other about it.

I kind of thought about that. I have the 2012 Nexus 7 and although it still works fine, it was always slow especially when opening my cover and the screen will take about 1- seconds to come on.

I know the 2013 was faster and I love the way it's pure Android of course like very Nexus.

Samsung Galaxy Pro 8.4" is on sale at BB for $249. That is what I got it for and I recommend taking a shot with it with no risk which is covered now through early January with the holiday return extension.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I saw a Nexus 9 today, it's damn fast, so snappy, the fastest I've ever seen Android run. But for me it's too big, I couldn't stretch my hand wide enough to hold it.
So I bought, to be opened Christmas Day, a Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact :D the design is simply stunning, so so so so thin and light and solid feeling, it's very smooth too, not as fast as the Nexus 9 was but it had Sonys default widgets in it so a quick removal should make it better, but it wasn't slow in any way either. I also really like the fresh feel of the settings page Sony have put on Android and the camera app is pretty good too. The speakers were also really good and pretty loud.

Anyway, so I havnt bought the Nexus, mainly due to its size but I have also read about the overheating problems people have had which as I like to play games is not what I want. I did sell my Nexus 7 as I felt the hardware wouldn't last, I guess that is the Nexus mantra? But the Nexus 6 looks very well made although I havnt seen one in the flesh yet.

Just need a new phone next year now, I won't get the Nexus 6 as I saw the iPhone 6 plus today too and it really is just too big for me... I do however like the Note 4 size even though it's not a lot smaller it makes the difference, but I'm so sure about Touchwiz? Hmm maybe will have a look at the Xperia Z4 when it's out, or even possibly the iPhone 6S if it has optical image stabilisation in it.

Sony Z3C tablet, nothing else really out there nor coming out as far as rumors. I like my Samsung tabs but don't want to deal with the headache with rooting and flashing them thats if they'll even see rooting now in the future with Geo leaving dev stuff.

The Nexus 9 could have been one killer tablet but HTC/Google screwed the pooch on this launch, even my buddy whose only used Nexus tabs and phones for years returned his and kept his 7 b/c of all the issues with his, from screen bleed that was awful, ubber slow charging (have to buy a better adaptor as they shipped with a puny phone one), some of the buttons are almost recessed flat making them hard to press but his top volume button stuck out much more, the edges are finished rough and bothered him after a while, the flexing wasn't too bad on his but it creaked and groaned like no tablet at this price should which made the fit/finish seem like a pos. The aspect ratio didn't bother him much, but I travel and like to watch videos etc and didn't like the 4:3 ratio but it was nice if just using for browsing.

When the guy at BB says they've had a lot of people come back to return them or exchange..... one can only hope HTC is listening and fixing QC issues on the production line. I'd wait at least two months and then see whats going on with the N9.

I would never go back to iPads but thats just me.

Congrats! I've been contemplating in returning this 6+ for a Nexus 6. I mean for $910 I get a Nexus 6 and Moto 360 watch.

Nexus 9 is sort of being relaunched alleviating some of the problems found in first batches.

How one would know what to look out for though In getting a newer version as far as the packaging I am not sure.
