Fixed on 9.2b1. I can even press app icon while on animation now!
Are you serious!?!? Say you click the home button while in an app and you can quickly tap the next app mid animation and it registers it and opens it right away?!? You don't have to wait anymore for the animation to completely finish?! I might have to jump on the PB if this is true!

I'm talking about going in and out of apps via the springboard. I know the app switcher lets you hit the cards while in animation but I'm specifically talking about the springboard app icons.

I have a 6s Plus and have noticed occasional lag/stutter from the lock screen to the home screen (after Touch ID). Sometimes if there are a lot of notifications on the lock screen, the lock screen to home screen animation/transition will actually lock up and drop a bunch of frames. Has anyone experienced this?

I don't understand your motive to keep replying people with lag actually. You turned on reduce motion, which makes animation stutter/lag non existent.

What do you gain by telling everyone about this?
A big thank you for acknowledging not every device in every configuration has lag. Now this thread can get back to discussing (maybe more like bemoaning) on how a specific set of devices with a specific configuration maybe not exhibit interface characteristics enjoyable to some.

I barely have enough time to tap an icon before the animation is finished. It's actually pretty difficult to test. iPad Air 2.

It's not fixed. You can only press when the animation is completely finished.

The animation seems to last about half a second anyway. I dunno, maybe it's a bigger deal on iPhone than iPad.

Specific? You say that as if we changed settings to make it lag.We are talking about a clean install iPhone 6 which came with Apple settings default.

And yes if you turn down the visual effects the lag disappears but this is something ridiculously obvious but as I said before I DO NOT pay a premium on Apple devices to turn down the visual effects.Thats like paying $600 for a GTX 980 ti and than reduce the game graphics settings after just some months

Can you tell me how this works, so I can try it here? Thanks!

Okay, so I just tried it again on my 5s, and the delay is still there.

I'm on mini retina now, and unfortunately it only works while switching app with four finger gesture.

If anyone has mini retina, try to open an app, close it with four finger gesture, and press an icon while the animation still take place. It'll register the tap. Very noticeable.

The animation still need to finish their job first before opening the next app, but the tap registers. Sorry for bringing your guys hopes up :(

I think this is ridiculous.

Turning off reduce motion literally disable animation. If there's no animation, there's no lag.

People complain about laggy / stuttery animation.

That's what I don't understand about you. Clearly, you don't even use "this" feature, why are you still voicing your idea?

Analogically speaking, people complain about playing games make battery run down too fast. You don't play the game. But then you replied every single game player that you don't experience any battery drain.

That's the right way to discuss? You tell me.

How do you manage it? It's so disorientating with the swooping animation. I need to let the animation finish to even know which icon I want to tap, otherwise it's completely random. Maybe it's because I'm new to iOS and the muscle memory is just not there yet. In any case, the animation is over pretty darn quickly, it doesn't give you a lot of time to react! You must have impressive reactions for this to be a major problem for you.

On my 6s when i turned off reduce animation and reduce transparency and said that for the most part the phone was lag and stutter free, I was told there was stutter "you just don't know it" and proof in the form of a 60fps video was basically demanded. Then there were those who were complaining about specific apps, which probably had nothing to do with a specific situation on an ipad air and those who were saying all phones have lag you can't differentiate it because your eyesight is not sensitive enough. So this whole thing(I'm not going to claim it's a discussion) is basically all over the place.

Just installed 9.2 B1, It isn't fixed yet, you still have to wait before animation or fade to complete before it even registers the tap on the Air 2.

Does seem smoother though. Looking forward to what final version may bring.

Try four finger gesture to close app and click an icon afterwards. It'll register the tap. Don't know why it only happen on that instance.

I wonder if they need it to behave like this now because of 6S and force touch? I really liked how it was before. It slows me down so much more now having to wait. I know people say the animation is only a half second or what ever but the time adds up as you go from app to app.

It's not some much the time, just feels clunky when you have missed taps and having to tap again. Hard to get used to it with 8.4.1 on my phone.

Seems a little better with using the gesture, when the screen accepts the 4 finger gesture. Try opening an app and then immediately closing it with 4 finger. a lot of times it won't take.

Exactly. It does feel clunky compared to 8.4.1. I can tap the icon I want to open like 5-6 times until it opens compared to 1 tap mid animation on 8.4.1. I'm getting used to waiting but it's annoying! But as a whole iOS 9 is better but it doesn't FEEL better yet!

A question?

If this lag/stutter is causing you so much stress and many negative feelings, why don't you swap it or change platform?

I am seriously worried about your health - mental and physical both. This iOS cannot be be good for you.....

Because it ran PERFECT on iOS 8.4.1.No lag anywhere

Couldn't agree with you more.. But my worry with you still persists.. If an iOS can cause you so much stress and if it is detrimental to your health, then surely it cannot be worth it... Imagine your medical bills, if it causes you stress related illness compared to cost of the phone..

I mean every thread you get a chance to post about your lag/stutter, you do it... It really is getting to you... Honestly this cannot be good for you...

Just a well wisher, hope you find peace...

I don't think it's something that's considered normal use. Certainly something that never comes into play here. Having said that, they're testing and reporting what they're seeing. Maybe it will help with the overall fluidity of the system. Who knows?

Yes, not normal use I believe. The point is you can press the icon while animation haven't been finished with four finger gesture.

This type of behavior is consistent with 8.4.1.

I personally don't think that this is an issue, just noticing it accidentally yesterday.
