It will be interesting to see if Apple is motivated to do what they're capable of, and create a gorgeous new model.

No one can do it better than a focused Apple.

Or if they are unable to resist the urge to continue milking the last penny of profit from every single device they sell.

Apple has become highly skilled at identifying precisely how much they can get away with _not_ doing. A clear testimony to their power over the customer base.

We already know what apple is going to do or *not* do.

Lets see what apple has in iOS 10 and what feature they will introduce in the iPhone 7.

I'll be the first to admit that I have a certain fondness for Apple, having been a long time user/enthusiast/shareholder. It's hard to walk away, knowing what they're capable of. Yet more and more it's becoming a predictable disappointment.

Apple and Microsoft are still fighting an old war — while Amazon and Google fight a new one

http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-tv-microsoft-xbox-amazon-echo-google-home-2016-5

Apple and Microsoft are betting that people still want to make the television the center of their lives. Amazon and Google are trying to provide a little more intelligence, everywhere, with or without a screen.

Not sure I agree entirely with all this. But interesting none the less.

My main reason I've been thinking of switching is two reasons... one is i like the idea of a micro sd card, and downloading all my iTunes music via google play. The second/third reasons are water proofing and the screen.
Honestly, switching to Google Fi has appeal, if the next nexus brings waterproofing, the same snappy response as a Galaxy S7, and a micro SD card. I can afford to pay more for an iPhone... but why would i want to when the experience is almost comparable? The biggest reasons I still love iOS is iMessage and photos, but it appears there are some easy work arounds for that. I can use image capture on my Macbook Pro to get photos up into the cloud, and I could use something like AirDroid to still respond to messages on my computer.
There are a few IOS apps I love and will miss, but at the moment I'm just not sure...

I have tried to ditch Apple in the past, but it never works for me. Even though I am sometimes frustrated with Apple and their products, I can't leave. I go try to find something that works better or provides me with what I want, but in the end, it doesn't meet my expectations and I go back to Apple. For example, I wanted to leave iOS and the Apple Watch so I put my SIM back in my Nexus and bought a Moto 360v2. I thought Android Wear was going to blow the Apple Watch out of the water with its feature set. Oddly enough, it fell short of almost all expectations. App support is terrible for Wear and the watch, while being latest generation and being factory reset multiple times, still lags and randomly reboots. While I am satisfied with Android as phone platform and find it more enjoyable to use than iOS, Android Wear is pretty bad.

Now I've switched back to iOS and the Apple Watch again and I have no regrets. No random reboots or jankiness, and there are tons of apps available for the Apple Watch. There isn't a real competitor that meets my needs for the moment. Yes, sometimes I do feel like ditching Apple completely, but in the end I keep on coming back because the grass isn't always greener on the other side. It's just a different shade of green.

This is pretty much where I stand right now. I see all of the new things that Android OEMs are putting out and I think the grass is greener. I try them out and it's all roses at first. Then little glitches pop up and things just don't work as cohesively as they did with iOS and Apple. So I come running back.

I used to be all Android all the time. But now I'm just an Android Fanboy living in an Apple world.

I told my wife that the other day. But I'd have to sell off some of my stuff that I need to do that, so it isn't happening right now. I'm guessing down the line I'll have to make it happen.

I can relate to this, I've been bouncing between the platforms for quite a while now but so far I've always returned to iOS despite Android having some clear advantages like mobile payments that I can actually use where I live. Bluetooth issues drove me away from a Nexus 6P and while I thought Android Wear had a clear advantage with the possibility of having the clock face visible all the time, now that I finally got myself an Apple Watch in April I quickly noticed that despite its known shortcomings it still spanks my LG G Watch so hard it's not even funny anymore. Granted, the LG G Watch is one of the first Android Wear devices and more advanced ones have come out since that, but the platform itself doesn't seem to work as nicely as watchOS for my use. However, it'll be interesting to see how Android Wear 2.0 changes the situation (and what comes out for watchOS in WWDC).

It's what i'm doing also but i've found to be using my iphone less and less. I happen to use my iphone to wake up in the night and check the NBA as it's easier access via my notification center ha. That and notifications wake the screen up which I like on IOS.

I tend to like notifications on my iPhone better too. I use mine as my morning alarm everyday. I switch between them all the time sometimes daily :)

Yeah I get that, at times I feel I should sell my 6s plus as getting £470 back could be very useful but there are times when it is useful and when IOS 10 comes out will be nice to check out the new features on it for example. Easy access to yahoo sport scores is a nice touch. Thats where I wish there was something like that on android where you scroll down from your notifications to display sport scores for example. As otherwise I would need to unlock my phone which isn't ideal in the middle of the night when it's on my wireless stand...more likely to wake the misses up as well ha

I dual wield as well, but only have one SIM. That means I've got to choose which one I want to use and leave the other at home or in my bag all day. Maybe I'll get another SIM one day so I can truly dual wield all the time. :)

The trouble is Apple is being held to a different standard. Google have demoed some interesting things at Google IO but they're only demos. Idealistic representations of what the software is capable of. Google photos is interesting but it misidentifies some of my pictures., it's interesting that's it's trying but it's still getting it wrong. If Apple gets it wrong, they just get it wrong, no one gives them credit for trying.

It may be that Google has an unassailable lead in AI but that's far from certain. Yes they have access to a greater quantity of data but that doesn't mean the data is of good quality. We'll see what happens but the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side.

T If Apple gets it wrong, they just get it wrong, no one gives them credit for trying.

That is because we constantly hear time and time again, especially around here, that when Apple does something they do it right. They don't do half-baked like other companies. This is mostly a justification excuse given when they are implementing something Samsung or Google on has had for years already. So if that is the case, should it not apply to everything they do?
