Wouldn't count on it. I think this will be a macOS release with at least 10 betas, not releasing until a Mac with Apple Silicon is announced. - I'd like to note that you still cannot switch between 12 and 24 hour clocks. That's such a basic thing missing - it's not ready for prime-time

You can still switch between 12 and 24 hour clocks. They only moved the setting...it's now under Dock & Menu Bar.

I know it's there. But the button doesn't actually do anything. You can click it a million times over and the clock doesn't change; This screenshot taken from beta 9

Clearly set to *not* use 24 hour clocks, but the menu bar doesn't care :)
Gotcha, it works for me so I was confused. I poked around with it some more, and it seems to be a bug related to the region. In Languages & Region, there is another toggle there. Looks the two toggles aren't playing nice with each other, depending on which region you are using.

… You have no idea how much happiness you've just brought me. It's such a minor thing, but every single beta release I've checked if it had been fixed, and it had bugged me every single time. Found the secondary switch in the Regions pref-pane, toggled it, and I now have an AM/PM clock like it ought to be.
Thanks

Hey cool works here again even though I dont need the 24 hour clock hehe. Looks like they fixed the weather widget maybe too. I just set it to use 'My Location' and it finally changed from Cupertino which is about 9 hours north of me to my own city. We'll see if it sticks next time I reboot. It would go back to Cupertino every time previously..

Hi, I had the same issue but there is a tick box under language and region which does the trick, it seems this tick box overrides the settings under dock and menu bar. Please see attached screenshot Captura de pantalla 2020-10-01 a las 14.28.20.png

In the post you replied to I was thanking someone else for pointing out that toggle existed and had just changed it, so I don't know why you're showing me again... But cheers

Nah, clocks should always be in 24 hour format, I think it should be fixed that way ;) :D

AM/PM looks nicer aesthetically and it's the way we speak about time. "See you at 2" is more natural than "See you at 14".

its strange, in the UK you use 24 hour clock for everything but you see 1432 but you think it 2:32pm automatically.
Its more precise but I guess its nice to have options. :)

24 hour clocks are standard here in Denmark as well. I just don't do that automatic conversion. My process when I see 14:32 is, internally, to first subtract 2, and then subtract 10. It's like a semi-active process. I prefer 12-hour clocks, hehe. It's weird cause it's not exactly like it's a difficult computation to just take away 12, but it just never became automatic to me - I can look at an analog 12-hour clock or 12-hour digital and immediately have a "feeling" for what the time is. But if I see a 24-hour clock my mind stalls for a second not knowing what to make of what I'm seeing. It may be more precise (when you don't use the AM/PM suffix that equalise the precision), but context usually sorts that out anyway

I live in Australia, and have family and friends all over the world. When trying to work out the time difference where they are, even within the country, it's helpful having a 24hr clock. Say it's 2pm here, what time is it in the UK, or Colorado! Having 24hr makes the maths easier.

Personally I don’t think it makes any difference in computing the time. Since time isn’t a decimal system anyway, whether you’re working with an extra modulo 12 or the broader modulo 24 isn’t that big a difference. Also you can just use world clock widgets ;) Regarding the people I know that’s a span of 8 hours difference so I’ve done this myself too and am not just talking out the wazoo, it is just different brain wirings I think :)

Thanks for belittling my reason for being happy to have 24hr time. I use it to calculate times 17hrs behind, and 5 hours forward, yep sure I can use widgets, but am happy using the 24hr clock. As a former military officer too, the benefits, that I won't bore you with even if you chose to listen, are also great.

Sorry that you feel like I belittled your reasons. That wasn't the intention. I started out with "Personally, I don't think". And that's all my comment was, my opinion. Just like yours is yours. I'm not saying you're wrong or that I'm right, just that I find time computations simpler with 12 hour clocks and you find it simpler with 24h. And like Nermal said, it's an option, it should just work regardless of which preference is desired for the system to respect. All my comments on the matter have really been a bit tongue and cheek and not meant as an attack on 24h clocks or anything. It's not really that big a deal. I prefer 12h clocks but as I said in my last post, the fact I find it easier to work with 12h clocks is just my brain wirings and not right or wrong

Anyone has any clue if there will be another beta (or perhaps GM) this week? It's already Wednesday and nothing....

Thanks for qualifying that, I too apologise as I didn't see the 'personally'.

I thought something might have come out on Tuesday, as many have posted that Apple often goes to weekly as it gets closer. It either means that the week between the last two was just one of those things and they are sticking with fortnightly, or the beta is particularly close to be released as a GM candidate, meaning we might see a beta say Thursday, and the GM the week after, 2 days after the iPhone event.

I think you may be right! I hope they deal with Safari bugs. There are quite a few of them! I am surprised there are bugs with core MacOS components this late in the beta process.
