Sooooo iOS 8 anyone?

I want to talk about the implementations specifically not simply that they are different (which some people DON'T see - however obvious it is to you and me).

For example - widgets. Techanarchy has stated in another thread he's not too thrilled with how iOS implemented widgets. Instead of going with an Android-like implementation with sizeable widgets and the ability to place them throughout the home screens (which Apple DOES have....what you would likely consider an app drawer), Apple decided to incorporate them into the notification center.

Pros, cons. Is it enough for someone to switch? Not enough? Why or why not?

See - this is a real discussion. Please don't argue back about the lawsuits or copying or anything else....I'm tired of reading the same things over and over again when I stopped arguing/caring quite a few posts ago.

Like I said in one of my first posts to you, if you don't want to engage in these conversations about "copying" then don't. You're the one replying to them trying to argue that Apple isn't copying by way of different implementation. Now that you're being called out, don't try to blame others for "dragging" you into the conversation. You chose to get involved.

Moving on then.

Yea ive never seen a Mac user with the issue, usually its people with new iOS devices and some ancient PC with totally clogged up fans they sync with :(

Haha - did you see the thread about the guy and his grandma who wanted to sync her new iPad with a Gateway from like 1998.....that was comical.

Fwiw there are third party programs that do a pretty good job ripping it back out. Can't remember the name of it now

LOL it's kinda funny how little you understand about business. Motorola can try and spin their relationship with Google all they want but if you think that Google had no input into their products then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd love to sell you.

You think Motorola all of a sudden had a change of heart and decided to become the only manufacturer to release basically a stock version of Android? And you think that it was simply coincidence that it happened first with their single flagship device during their tenure as a Google company!?

It's amazing how foolish people can be when they really want to believe something that simply isn't true. Face it...Apple copied Google. Again.

Not really. I never said Motorola wasn't copied.

Of course not, Google had input but again I'm damn sure Motorola knows more than you regarding how their business was run.

As I said a few pages back I don't care if Apple did copy because I and others have said that if Apple does copy then it just increases competition.

I did that too, but the Google music player is pretty bad and the volume is low and really noticable on the Nexus 5 (compared to the PowerAmp player anyways) so i hardly use it unless im in a place with wifi and there isnt any noise, lol. I didnt notice that on my GS3.

Well to make it happen in all Android phones...there has to be changes that are mentioned in that article. It might have to be only in the ones from the past year. Its a cool feature that should of been in the Nexus 5 and the SSG5 and M8.

Even if you want to say Apple is copying Motorola (instead of copying Google), fine, they're still copying. The point is a lot of people here are making especially earlier in the thread is that Apple is playing catch up to the competition, particularly ones made popular by Android.

I don't see anyway other than using the low power chip inside the S800.

If I'm not wrong, the S600 doesn't have this dedicated chip in it so it maybe only limited to S800+ phones?

My point is that I don't care if they are. even if they are just catching up(even though they seemed to have excelled with continuity) better competition is increased competition:)

Agreed. I think that's many of our points. A lot of people here, to me, seem glad that Apple is adding these long overdue features. I wish they'd copy more, in fact.

The reason this thread got out of control was because Jrswizzle insist it's not copying by mere way of implementation.

I know this isn't related to what you just said(much)

But I'm running iOS 8 beta at the moment and the actionable notifications are great! You can actually swipe to dismiss notifications now which is pretty damn long over due.

Also I can't wait till developers get to update their apps for iOS 8 API's because at the moment iOS 8's full power isn't being shown off.

I can't wait to get iOS 8 onto my 5C. :) Actionable notifications are great. I'm still not a terribly big fan of how notifications drop down into your screen, but this might be made better when the larger iPhone comes this fall.

As far as lock screen goes. I've given up trying to find an iosque style one. I disabled lock screen security so I can access the notification shade from the lock screen. My exchange account is locked down in the nine app, so I'll take my chances with no lock screen security for now.

Let us know if you figure it out. I am rooted but not currently xposed because I feel like ART is a bigger deal for me.

Well I am going to make an app for this. Basically I will use the accessibility service to catch all notifications and their ids, then parse everything into my own notification, and then see if I can issue the same notification again. My challenge is probably going to be showing it as coming from the original app and the associated action buttons. But the lock screen app lockerpro can do it so I have hopes.

I'll try to make it non-root but it will probably only run on 4.3+ and not published on playstore as I don't want to deal with too much maintenance for it yet. But if anyone is interested you can request it once its ready :)

To be honest I prefer it to Android banners. With the iOS ones I can read it and tap to immediatly respond or swipe to dismiss the banner.
