Thanks @RobJos for the idea, but I can't see odysee under 10.6.8, AF, IW, SW, Nightly, etc. even with all addons desactived.

I wrote to their support, they tried to explain me that they never changed anything, of course it's evident ! I gave them all the error logs, the day when it was still good and the day after withe the error message.

I have to switch to my MBA to see the uncensored videos I want when the f... YT is OK :(

That's a shame. You might consider using VMWare or Virtualbox. Or if Lion is an option, Chromium Legacy is almost guaranteed to work.

Yes, you're right it's a shame.

I never leave Snow Leopard just for a bad site, I need Rosetta and I like that system.

For some PC applications I deal with Wineskin Winery that gives good results. It's lighter than VMWare or Virtualbox and I don't have any W10 licence.

I do get videos from odysee.com to run :D, I'm on SL 10.6.5, and since recently I learnt to appreciate TenFourFox Intel. Almost all recent extensions I need work, and it feels snappy. Regarding odysee videos in TFF, there is one caveat, in normal browser viewport only half of the video is visible, it is somehow moved to the right, but you can circumvent this by watching in full screen mode ... et voilà!

I just tested TFF FPR32 (unstable), but odysee still gives an error message. The Robjos link is OK with AF and others.
Thanks for the idea.

I missed the rest of this talk, not the first time I didn't get the mail warning of a new post. Anyhow. Shortly after, strange coincidence, I also started getting an error on Odysee, both with AF and SW — that is, any page on Odysee does load briefly, but turns right away into a page with an error code that's incomprehensible for a commoner like me.

The maker of Save/ViewTube(+) suggested using youtube-dl. It only has a Windows GUI, on a Mac you must install it with Homebrew or MacPorts. But the Terminal, after spending a couple of hours churning through the installation process, ended up stalling on requesting some 10.7.-related file — definitely not something ten-six'ers are likely to have hanging around on their machines. Besides, I found out later, too late, that to run it (to download videos), you have to use the Terminal. Life (mine)'s way too short for that.

youtube-dl actually works on 10.6, via MacPorts (maybe run port selfupdate beforehand), but if you don't want to bother with MacPorts, you can download the binary manually from youtube-dl – lookout for "Full source + docs + binary tarball"!

Yes, it is command line only, but it is relatively simple to use, and odysee/lbry seems to be understood since latest version, as confirmed here.

I tried this

youtube-dl -s --get-id --get-title --get-description --get-duration https://odysee.com/@PUT_YOUR_FAV_CHANNEL_NAME_HERE:d

...and received output. The option "-s" makes it a simulation and downloads nothing.

@snowy moon : Continuing from the early intel thread...
Editing the polyfill extension does indeed work. I guess i forgot to test it on 2.2.3 so i didn't adjust it's install.rdf for this release. Not sure about the other add-ons not updating though. For the most part, the only ones tested working are what's included.

Thank you @wicknix ! Now everything works again, I edited all install.rdf files according to your example. The thing to learn here is, that version number digits cannot simply be wildcarded like 60.* as maxVersion, that value doesn't seem to include value 60.9.4. Slightly weird, but makes sense for excluding more precisely versions that would technically not work, I guess…

Its a 1 hour live show, it will play on recent browsers...

Hmm...

That would be because it relies on recent Javascript elements which weren’t baked into the standard at the time of Firefox 52. 🤷‍♀️ This more recent standard in daily use is also evident when browsing a page which only loads content once the browser window scrolls to reach that content on screen.

Should autofill URL work in SW? I chose autocomplete from preferences and it should remember history too. But still the autofill doesn't seem to work..

I'd like to give this SpiderWeb Browser a shot and I downloaded and unzipped the files, but I don't know how to proceed from there. I don't see an installer file or a full app to drag-and-drop to Applications. I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'd appreciate any help. And I'd like to activate whatever ad-blocking elements I need to use. Thanks.

Make sure this file is the one you downloaded. Inside the zip is the .app and a folder with extensions for adblocking, script blocking etc. Just drag the spiderweb.app to /Applications and drag and drop any extension in to a blank spiderweb window (new tab) to install them

Cheers

Thanks. I re-downloaded it just to make sure, but I think that's the one I got. Sorry to be so stupid, but when you say look for the .app, do you mean the whole 'SpiderWeb.app' folder? Or dig through the folder for the actual file?

RobJos, the uBlock file you attached is not in the add-ons folder when extracting the SpiderWeb zip (the noscript one is). Are you recommending those files instead of the adblock and noscript in the bundle? Just checking.

Sorry, I cannot remember exactly what's in the package. Those are the addons against advertising that I've been using, plus Little Snitch and a really anonymous VPN, of course. I think I remember using an add-on called Adblock Latitude or something, but when and why I moved to uBO I cannot remember either. Apart from reaching sites that don't load properly in ArcticFox, what's neat about SW is that it launches very quickly and can be setup to not remember anything whatsoever — in this way, after changing server, I can quickly load a site full of spyware (say, all Google's javascripts, or Twitter), temporarily allow all scripts for that one site, then quit SW, change server once again and go back to what I was doing in AF or elsewhere.
