Maybe, but not addressing Picard/Tallinn was a big gaping plot hole. I mean, it's not like they couldn't use a throw away line "nice to see everyone, now I gotta get back to Tallinn and the vineyard." That miss earned a first ever "Trilithium Down" from Trek Culture.

I don't know, maybe they were implying that Picard and Beverly would be a thing again.

My big miss was Janeway not showing up to promote Seven to Captain. The scene was great with Tuvok, but Janeway promoting her would make more sense. Matalas actually had Janeway in the first script draft, but producers nixed it for being too costly.

The name of the Bab 5 movie I referenced in the previous post is called Babylon 5: The Road Home. It will focus on John Sheridan as he hits up different timelines and alternate realities. The officially released synopsis from Warner Bros. Animation reads:

Travel across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home. Along the way he reunites with some familiar faces, while discovering cosmic new revelations about the history, purpose, and meaning of the Universe.

Actors that have died will be vocied by new actors.

Good moments from the finale:

Beverly's bad-azzz phaser shooting takes out all the Borg Cube weapons. (everyone looks at her) "A lot has happened in the last 20 years."

Worf: "Swords are fun."

and "There was a moment where I was actually concerned we would survive."

Seven, after using modified phasers to beam off the Borg-ified bridge crew): "Did it work or did we just kill them all?"

Also in the finale:
Troi asking "Why am I sensing enjoyment?" as Data flies the Enterprise inside the Borg cube. It reminds me of Nemesis where Data is curious about why Picard is laughing while driving the dune buggy really fast.

Episode 1, Riker in the bar asking about the starship Enterprise souvenirs
Riker: Why do you have so many Enteprise-D's?
Bartender: Oh, the fat ones? No one wants those.
Riker to Picard: You hear that Jean-Luc? No one wants the fat ones!

Yeah, having a captain promote someone to captain doesn’t sound right. It’s the kind of thing you’d expect from an admiral. That said, trek culture had an interesting take on why they felt that works from a character perspective.

I would have thought the decision on promoting 7 would have come from way higher up. Tuvok was just passing on the news. He’s somebody she knows and trusts and obviously Tim Russ had already featured in S3, so could shoot scenes that probably would have been given to Kate Mulgrew in an ideal world.

promote Seven to Captain
Seems weird that throughout the star trek universe the lore is that its extremely difficult and only the best of the best get promoted to captain a starship, but then they promote people willy-nilly.

Unless I missed something, both 7 and Picard's son, never made it into the academy yet 7 was fast tracked and promoted to the captaincy, and Picard's son is a Lt on the bridge with no training AFAIK.

There's also Rios or left starfeel and returned and was insta-promoted to the captain of the Stargazer. There's others to be sure, but I don't have time to google it ;)

I'm not complaining just pointing out this observation.

7 obviously had experience and expertise way beyond an ensign fresh out the academy when Voyager got home which makes it plausible that she was Commander/No1 at the start of the season.
Getting her own ship is the next logical career step.

As for Jr, see in him something like his half brother being "acting ensign/Lt" in TNG.

In the US navy, people with skills can be given commissions after a short training period. Called "12 week wonders."

Did the Enterprise-G thing in the Picard finale seem gratuitous and unwarranted? I mean, was the F destroyed, already due for retirement or did they just decide to do it regardless? Also, shouldn't each new Enterprise be more advanced and powerful than the last? Is that Titan more advanced and powerful than the Enterprise-F?

It was kinda dumb to rename the Titan the Enterprise. That’s basically Terry trying to get already built sets and a 3D model for a new Enterprise show. They should have just kept it the Titan, although it’s time for another Enterprise show after the 24th century.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If that Legacy show is ever a go, I'll take it any way they want to serve it up. I think a Seven/Raffi/Jack/Alandra show would be a great premise.

Oh I don’t disagree. It’s just that, typically, it’s an admiral who bestows the promotion on the recipient, not a captain. I would think most promotions to the captaincy would be from on high, with the rare exception being extraordinary circumstances, such as the captain of the valiant promoting the red squad leader to captain.

I always figured that it was a testament to Roddenberry’s long held belief that starfleet is not a military organization. Just an exploratory organization with some military training for defense and times of crisis, hence the use of military hierarchy and discipline.

One departure from the military system that I think Roddenberry intended for starfleet captains, at least, is that they are essentially platonic philosopher kings.

When is the last time anyone watched ST:TMP?
It funny you posted that, that very video came across my YT stream and I watched it. First time in ages. I forgot what the Klingons looked like in their return. I like the minor changes that TNG did to make it a bit more organic (their heads and hair).

I absolutely hate the gold Klingons in Star Trek Discovery (there's not much I liked in Star Trek Discovery).

The first live shot of Mariner and Boimler (Tawney Newsome, Jack Quaid) from Lower decks, on Strange New Worlds. You can see them in the back of the transporter chamber.

Hmmm doesn’t look like purple hair on Boimler.

Quaid discussed Bradward’s hair in the audio commentary for the Lower Decks season 3 finale, “The Stars at Night.” Quaid appeared alongside fellow actors Dawnn Lewis (Captain Carol Freeman) and Fred Tatasciore (Lt. Shax). He revealed he directly asked Lower Decks creator and showrunner Mike McMahan about Bradward’s purple hair color. According to Quaid, McMahan stated that the color was meant to represent “dark color” in “animation code.”

However, as anticipated by Quaid, that’s not how the hair color was interpreted by fans. “Well sure enough, people are like, ‘I love his purple hair, I love his purple hair!’ To the point where I did this Strange New Worlds thing, and that was like a whole discussion… ‘Should we make it dark, should we make it purple?'”

Quaid says that he had some very specific ideas about Bradward’s hair color, stating, “‘No, it has to look purple. At least in certain lights, we have to make sure it’s purple.'” And that’s not all the commentary revealed about Bradward’s hair: “I don’t even know if I can say it yet, but in that episode of Strange New Worlds, we do tell you why it’s purple… There is an answer there.”

They also said that SNW characters will appear in animation. Based on the screenshot, I am guessing it will be Pike and Noonien-Singh.

My guess, strictly a guess - a similar transporter situation like on Deep Space Nine, when the transporters were rigged to go into the Mirror Universe. I'm guessing that is how Mariner and Boimler ended up in the past and now they, along with the SNW crew, are going onto the future. For some resaon. And Spock'a there, giving the Vulcan salute to see them off. There'a actually a 3 second clip of the sequence on the internet.
