State of Apple

These are my current feelings on Apple: it's a previous post from another thread.

You're going to see a mass exodus of iPhone users going to Android soon after the September 12th keynote. Just watch. The iPhone 5 will disappoint so many people.

As a long time iPhone user I have to certainly agree with this statement.

I get that there's not going to be an iPhone 4 type announcement every year, or an iOS 5 type release

BUT

Apple, seems content ignoring the more advanced part of its customer base.

People like me, who have owned all 5 iPhones (and can we please STOP calling it iPhone 5!?) just aren't excited by what we see coming with the SIXTH iPhone.

I see Apple trying one of its reality distortion field moves... They're going to try and convince us that nothing significant needs to be added to iPhone/iOS and that this is ACCEPTABLE.

They'll say don't be fooled by the smoke and mirrors (widgets, customization, openness, etc) of Android. We haven't updated the essential/core iOS since the first iPhone but hey, we have tons of cool apps!!!

They'll say you can't have the same eco-system of products if you don't have an iPhone/iPad.

They'll say that Android is porn/malware/problematic as opposed to the buttery smoothness of iOS

You get the point...

The factor of the matter is, I don't care any longer about the shortcomings of Android; I only know that I'm BORED out of my mind with iOS and the iPhone.

It has come high tide, that the excellence of past performances are NOT enough to assure future loyalty to the iPhone.

Laymen; INNOVATE APPLE, tweaks aren't enough, SHOW US, that you're listening to your customer base and not just hell bent on TELLING us what we need.

I don't think there will be a mass exodus, but I do think Apple are at their peak. There is only one way from there.....

I honestly don't see what is it that you want Apple to do.

Are you looking for a bigger screen? better multitasking? better battery life? better look & feel? better OS?

One of the biggest selling points for the iPhone IS the eco system. Ever since I sold mine, my seamless integration with my Mac is gone. Now I have to go through a couple of extra steps to get things kinda close to where I want them to be.

I switched to Android a couple of years ago because I was on Tmobile, and 2G data wasn't cutting it for me. My first Android experience with a Samsung Galaxy S was sooooooo bad (Samsung's fault, not Google), that I am swore off any Samsung phones and currently own an HTC One S.

But if TMo ever releases an iPhone on their network (or they finish 3G farming where they can support it properly), then I would go back to iOS in a heart beat.

thats pretty simple. its on a bunch of pre paid carriers. I see tons of people with crappy android phones and they are happy with them.

Cute. There are more people buying Android phones, but there is a large portion of smartphone users (and Android users alike) anticipating the next iPhone before jumping ship. I used to create Surveys. They can be manipulated to read anyway you want the results to come out. Here is an example of the same question asked 3 different ways that will give you the data you want to see (assuming you love the iphone). Notice how each successive question guides you to the answer the surveying is looking for, to get his data point. Unless a survey uses questions like the first one, it's biased.

What smartphone will you buy next?
Do you plan to buy an iphone as your next phone?
If Android wasn't an option in your next smartphone purchase, would the iphone be your choice?

You have the same, dull looking small brick, with the same OS as 2007, getting features years after other phones and in drips here and there, with zero innovation in 3 years AND guess what? Different surveys by different companies get wildly different results. Bgr only reports on the pro Apple ones.

Note how the article doesn't mention about how the people who were surveyed we're chosen. For all we know they surveyed people looking around Apple stores!

However, as another poster put it, if I can switch and be happy then I know there are others.

My argument isn't that Apple is horrible or iOS sucks, blah, blah, blah... (because we both KNOW that either platform is perfectally usable)

You could liken it to being freed from the matrix. Everything in the matrix is perfect until you're freed and see for yourself that it isn't exactly what you thought it was.

I REFUSE to be a convert who is devoted to bashing Apple. I have an iPad, Apple TV, and would love an iMac, also we still have 3 iPhones in use at my home.

As I stated before and I'll state again; I'M BORED TO DEATH of the wall of icons, 3.5 inch screen and most of all that STUPID home button.

So what say you!? Move on, bye bye!? Well, thanks, I'll gladly take your advice (phone-wise).

I am happy to report that I'm currently using Android (HTC One X) the longest I've EVER used an Android device and I have ZERO, maybe perhaps Negative iPhone withdrawals, even though, in a few instances it's caused me to be inconvenienced!!!

As another poster commented Apple is at or nearing its Peak, concerning the iPhone, it's only one way from there.

Anywho, it would take some MAJOR convincing to win me back over.

You can and should always consider the source and methodology but it really stretches credulity to come onto Macrumors and read Android fans gibberish about how the Exodus is coming to the iPhones when Apple just had a record Q2 quarter where it sold 35 million phones and night 12 billion in profit.

If this is Apple screwing up then I'm ok with that.

I am like Wide opeN above, I still have and love a fair chunk of Apple products, I changed from a iPhone 4S to a SGS3 the other month, I couldn't be happier with my choice.

There are two posters in this thread that refuse to acknowledge that anything good can come from a phone using Android, they are blinded by misplaced loyalty, and even their valid points are made worthless by their extreme bias. Shame really.

Delusions of self grandeur. Why would Apple need to convince you to buy another iPhone? Buy what you want but don't fool yourself there "are" others that think like you but it's unlikely that they are in the tens of millions.

I don't care about the blogs. I take what they say good or bad and put that up to quarterly numbers. If Apple is selling more phones than they did last quarter then they're are moving in the right direction. Until Apple actually sells significantly less phones in the current quarter than the last the bleating about exodus is forum chatter.

Apple finding success in China could have a huge impact and when you look at the "boring" iOS 6 you see that it's prepped to do very well in China with native support for their microblogging sites and Mandarin/Cantonese support. I cannot logically see any way that the next iPhone fails. It is better prepped for international usage than any other iPhone before.
