Tell that to the people here who to this day still claim that the iPhone is the most technologically advanced phone and that they themselves are "tech enthusiasts" even though senior citizens and still-developing children can use the phone just as easily.

Your right but you do have a major fault. Why do you feel obliged to correct these people? Don't get me wrong I do the same, but not on the internet, just with close members aaand I still don't get it right! lol

Just do not take it personal or let it affect you in any way (get angry)

It is designed to be user friendly (dumb proof) but to such an extent it has become a 'dumb' OS itself.

I wish it was more like OSX tbh even though that is relatively dumb still compared to open source linux, however it does provide all the features required without the UI customisation.

First of all, only idiots get angry on the internet.

Second, I don't care if somebody who doesn't know jack about computers has an iPhone and loves it. It was made for them. It's fine and dandy that they use it. A lovely device for a beginner, no doubt.

My issue is with people who claim that the iPhone is highly advanced when it doesn't even have features that have been on Symbian or Blackberry, all because its on a shiny screen and was made by Apple. Yes, we get it, they innovated the first capactive touchscreen phone computing device, but does it have to have the same screen size, lack things such as a notification LED, and have its OS move along at such a snail's pace that after 6 iterations, it finally lets you do something like attach pictures within the email app?

I'm not trying to get people to switch to anything. I'm just amazed that people can use the iPhone for 6 years and not wonder why it still doesn't do things an old Blackberry can do despite all that advanced software. It would be wonderful if people just said "yes, I'm using a dumbed down device and I want my phone dumbed down" but no, they continue to say things like "I'm using the most advanced phone ever made" yet they can't even download and save an mp3 to their phone from the internet with Safari...

I wish it was more like OSX tbh
So do I. That's the least Apple can do for their users.

even though that is relatively dumb still compared to open source linux,
All mainstream computing is being dumbed down. The sad thing is that iOS is like 10 years ahead in the dumbing down phase.

Stock up. Check

New products to be released. Check

Pent up demand generated over things not seen. Check

Competitors busy copying and calling it innovation. Check

Yup they are sliding down a greasy pole.

Perhaps for the fresh fans the next phone should come with 10 totally different and unique User Interfaces. A random one will be selected at each power on. Additional Themes could be added at each OS upgrade and will be available for purchase in the App store.

Or the worse response: "It just works." I shudder at that lie every time I hear it. And fellow Apple fans should be equally embarrassed by such a saying, but of course, they're not.

And the funny thing is that they're simply parroting the marketing speak that they say had zero effect on their preference for the iPhone.

I'm trying to figure out why if Blackberrys are so good they are going broke. I'm really confused about this. A notification LED is your reason they are so good? Holy Cow!

Let me tell you why I have this so-called (by you) low tech iPhone. It works and if it doesn't Apple promptly takes care of it. I don't depend on a carrier who doesn't really care about me for problem resolving. The Apple store actually seems to care if I'm happy. It doesn't matter whether they really do or not as long as they make me think so.

The phone integrates seamlessly with all my other Apple devices (27-inch IMac, rMacBook Pro, and iPad). All these devices are far superior to the many PC's I have owned over the years.

I have no desire to own a device that is too big to be a phone and too small to be a tablet. There are more Android phones that iPhones because everybody and their brother in law build one. They cover the gamut of prices and cheap will always out number more expensive items. Most of them never have the operating systems upgraded. You buy it and it's yours. If it doesn't work or a later version of the OS comes tomorrow...tough. It breaks, plead with the carrier.

Not my style. I want to deal with someone who makes good stuff and at least pretends to care about my satisfaction. If you want something else, for God's sake buy it and quit the continual effort to tell me what to do. I'm tired of politics and phone wars.

now look at the garbage that is iCloud, the stagnate UI on iOS, and current line of PCs/laptops. can a brother get a macbook with 10 hrs of battery life? or 3g built into it? do something different.

Yup Apple's clearly doing something wrong. Their stock is higher than it's ever been and they just reamed Samsung's arse for a billion dollars.

thats pretty simple. its on a bunch of pre paid carriers. I see tons of people with crappy android phones and they are happy with them.

 Must have gave yourself a vote because this make no sense.

----------

Cute. There are more people buying Android phones, but there is a large portion of smartphone users (and Android users alike) anticipating the next iPhone before jumping ship. Message me in about 45 days when the next iPhone is launched. You guys give the same spiel every year around this time, but nothing ever happens.

I can only go by in here. And i see many waiting to see if it is as rumored as true(the new iPhone look, specs) before they jump ship to Android.

I only know 1 person who is waiting for the next iPhone( on my suggestion since he wanted to get an iPhone and had no idea a new one was coming out) and he has Sprint and probably wont be happy with it there.

I don't think the verdict will be good for Apple, as I think it will only lead to their complacency.

Too late. That happened a couple years ago.

No, see their lack of innovation was because everyone started copying them. Ever since then they lost a lot of incentive to be innovative and still made ridiculous amounts of profit anyways.

1. They do have 4G

2. What is innovative about that? Its just integrating a third party chipset by qualcomm, infineon, broadcom, etc.

I don't see it that way.

More like, their innovation doesn't seem as shining because its been diluted by everyone ripping them off.

LOL. IOS5 just changed the indicator from 3g to 4g. Nothing more. Even the release notes won't say it is on 4g. HSPA+ is not, nor will it ever be 4g. And certainly nothing close to LTE+4g.

You iPhone lovers can be funny sometimes with your antiquated tech. :p

Exactly, 5.1.1 just gives the 4G icon, they dont have 4G service. Amazing they dont realize that.
My Wife's phone shows the 4G icon and she doesnt even have data on her phone,.. Lol

Guys

The point is by the definition of 4G the AT&T HSPA+ network qualifies for the name.

Also there's a lot of people tossing around the word "innovative" like it's some sort of universal truth. Innovation is highly subjective.

Many of the features you guys say aren't in iOS are missing for a reason. Apple's not going to align with every feature out there regardless of whether you find it "innovative" or not.

No, the point is you dont have 4G and still have 3G. Having the icon show up means nothing because you arent getting 4G speeds. Funny that you dont know that. Nobody has said a thing about AT&T qualifying for the 4G or the HSPA+ name. We are talking about your iP4S which doesnt qualify for 4G.

Again, my Wifes phone is a 4G phone but she doesnt have data on it and it still shows the 4G icon.

As for innovation...Apple didnt want to give you MMS but were overwhelmed by customers asking for it and it took two years so your right, they arent going to give you everything they can if they dont have to...but they wiill will give you some jst to try to keep up and not be overwhelmingly way behind the compitition.

However, seems their answer to that is just suing their closest compititor to try and slow them down. What goes around comes around.

First of all, only idiots get angry on the internet.

And yet here you are constantly posting about your dislike of the iPhone and Apple. You're either angry with yourself, Apple, or all your friends that refuse to listen to you and keep buying iPhone. The real question is, why are you here? Do you have some sort of twisted notion that you're going to save the world from the awful clutches of Apple and the iPhone??

All mainstream computing is being dumbed down.

Being an IT professional, working on my devices stopped being a hobby long ago. Instead of screwing around with my mobile devices and computers, I prefer they just work so I can spend more of my time taking photographs which I find much more fulfilling than making a custom theme for my smartphone. The iPhone fits my needs nicely. Just accept this and stop trolling this forum.

Wrong, there were lengthy discussions about it....and despite our discussions AT&T still changed the definition....and Apple went along with them. What's done is done and there is nothing we can do about it. You're just very late to the discussion.

That makes no sense. Despite the fact that some people are uninformed, your rant will change nothing that AT&T has already done (twist the definition of 4G for their marketing purposes). Your rants are accomplishing nothing and are pointless. None of it will matter in a few weeks anyway. Wasting your time.
