Spending a few days in Eastern Central Minnesota, near Taylors Falls. This morning woke up to rogue cows on the loose, licking the BBQ! :)

It's summer and so the season for "tourism" no matter where one hangs out...

So many options: Let's see, apples or... beer?

The piece said some clerks lured the deer back outside with some food in hand.

The same newspaper noted other wildlife adventures this summer in the area: an escaped kangaroo, a herd of 75 bison, and a couple alligators have been among the sightseers...

I wonder if it bolted, could t make it through a glass wall found on the front of some groceries? (rhetorical)
The friends we are currently staying with have 8 chickens and they are fascinating to watch. They get about 3 eggs a day. What I find interesting is that they lay an egg and just leave it. What the heck? When I was little and visiting my Grandparents on the farm in West Virginia, they had about 30 chicken and I remember the chickens sitting on their eggs. I think I recall they had to reach under them to verify there was an egg.

He feeds them organic meal, so that makes them free range organic. :) He told me that if kept as egg layers, they last about 7 years before old age gets them. I was trying to figure out their vision based on head movement, and it seems like they look at an angle away, so they put one eye on you.

Ralph was a good guy
Glad it wasn’t us

Okay that concludes the service.

Let’s git outta here!

One of those cows wandered into the chicken coop, which has a yarded area. It was interesting getting him out because we did not want him to bolt through the chicken wire.

Well, we’re back in Texas. Minnesota was crisp, clean, and intensely green. At the end of Aug, lows in high 50s and highs in low 70s, pretty wonderful! Being out in a farming area is peaceful and quiet.

I visited Alaska for the first time, where I saw moose, caribou, deer, bears, sea lions, a whale, and even some humans.

In a coffee shop.
Pre-Covid, travelling to interest countries & cultures: Walking around historic urban (and yes, rural,) spaces; cathedrals, castles, ancient cities, towns and cities, villages; fine dining amply lubricated with very fine wines, sipping artisan beers in antique pubs, visiting theatres, museums, attending classical, jazz, or folk or trad concerts.

Scenery, wildlife, good restaurants.....more history....

Tinder to scope the local talent.

Jokes aside, I like to relax and do as little as possible. To me, that's the point of a vacation.

Enjoying the sun, taking some time to read or write, touring beautiful places and taking photos, eating good food, hiking and mountain biking out on the trails...

Stressful, fast-paced vacations with packed schedules and full itineraries seem to defeat the purpose of a vacation to me.

I like to hunt for new photo opportunities. I use my iPhone 8+ and my small Canon SX740 camera. When traveling, I take my iPad Pro 10.5 for editing. Gave up the DSLR and extra lenses several years ago. just look around and see what’s there. Usually go where there are no crowds. These days, though, it’s stay at home, but I am getting the itch for some day trips. Rural areas and small towns I haven’t been to.

I could have added reading as something I do while on holidays, or vacation, but I am always reading, - this is an activity I have always loved - irrespective of whether or not I am on vacation.

Sleeping in. I love my job. I actually would rather work. I roll over 3 weeks of vacation every year. Or just take a cash pay out

Our primary vacation destinations are centered on visiting places of interest (historical) around the World. Usually we set our itinerary, fly to a location, rent a car and drive staying at hotels or B&Bs. Although I generally do not like cruises as a method to facilitate, our two most impressive trips have been a 2week European River Cruise and 2 week Med Cruise.

Haven't had one in a while, but I love walking along the beaches. I'm quite fortunate to have them reasonably close by.

We are leaving tomorrow to drive to Minnesota (from Texas) to visit family and although I have made the trip several times over the years, I‘d like to ask has anyone driven from Tulsa, Ok to Kansas City, Mo lately? I’m wondering if Interstate 45 or route 69 (future Interstate corridor) is a preferred way? They show about the same time, although the Interstate is 20 miles longer, but what I really want to know is if 69 has bypasses around the towns, or goes right through them?
Can’t leave until we get an answer. 😜Thanks

We just got back from a little cabin in Michigan.

Drove up from Florida through Alabama. The traffic was the heaviest I have ever seen. The way back down was much faster. Hope your drive up is more relaxing.

Where are you heading to in MN?
Lived in Woodbury, MN for several years. Too cold for me, but very beautiful.

Sorry, do not have any experience on driving up from TX.
