Going to Spain in June for two weeks. Very excited! Noticing some Americans who have yet to go to Canada — I’ve been all around Europe and Central America but the Canadian Rockies are definitely up there with the most beautiful places I’ve traveled.

Also some great places within the U.S. to travel — my favorites have been the Grand Tetons, Hawaii (Kauai especially was nice), St. Croix, Olympic National Park Washington and San Diego.

Last year we travelled to the Balkans (Croatia, Montenegro, and Bosnia)—lovely, cheap, beautiful, with rich history! Besides sightseeing, we enjoyed a few days on a beach :)
This July another dream of mine will come true—summer trip to the Yosemite! Well, Travel US News says it's going to be crowded...but my cousin said she knows some places where mass tourists don't go. Also, RoveMe suggests that July is one of the best months to visit Yosemite with lots of things to do and see. Wish me luck!

My favorite place to vacation is the Colorado Plateau, primarily in southeastern Utah.
Heading to Colorado or Wyoming for a Thanksgiving vacation this year. Any suggestions?
As an aside, I lived in CO for about 5 years, Colorado Springs ( actually Fountain, CO ).

So far, I think I will take the family to Steamboat, CO, but certainly open to additional suggestions.

Either Colorado or Wyoming would be good destinations. Of course it depends on what you enjoy doing, and what kind of scenery you prefer.
Having lived there, you’re probably aware that geologically, Colorado is three regions: plains (like Kansas) to the east, the Rockies in the middle, and plateaus (the Western Slope) to the west. I’d skip the plains and go for the mountains and plateau regions, and maybe ease on down to Utah. If you like mountainbiking, then western Colorado and eastern Utah are must-sees.
Steamboat is a nice area; I’ve gone skiing there a couple of times.
Southern Wyoming has a lot of flat with wind. But the Wind River Range is pretty spectacular, as are the Tetons.
I’ve been skiing and rock climbing in the latter, but only driven past the former.

Come to think of it, northern Idaho is pretty nice for a variety of mountain scenery.

Southwestern Colorado - the San Juans - is spectacular. If you like 4-wheeling, it’s a great destination.
And if you’re into Native American history, Mesa Verde ought to be on your list as well.

Again, it depends on what you enjoy doing, and what you enjoy looking at while you’re doing it.
Almost too many choices!

How'd you do the map?
From the link @Huntn posted
For those of you who are well traveled, if not frowned upon as bragging, this might be fun. I consider myself fairly well traveled, but when I look on a world map, not so much. :D

This is all a combination of personal opinion versus exposure. We found Budapest to be a very interesting city, more so than Vienna, of Cologne, but that too is based on our limited exposure. What formerly iron curtain cities would you hold up as blossoming?

Fill in with text description in your post to add the extras. My most exotic locations might be Oman and Diego Garcia, military related. :)
There's a couple of islands that I fly to for work which aren't on there but I will once I have time to sit down and look at the site again. Oman and Diego Garcia sound nice! Afghanistan and Qatar would be mine.

Both have nice beaches. In DG you had to worry about sharks. When I was there, I had just spent a month at Subic Bay (14 degrees North), had the best tan of my life and thought I knew what Sun was... not until I was 7 degrees South of the equator. ;)
