Ok we are fighting :D

Thing is, We are ALL going to look like that sooner or later.

And perhaps it's better to get used to it.

(like, GOSH he looks so sick!!!. ....flash back to poor Stevie)

Anyway, I just wasn't sure if I should price in that photo to my Apple stock.

Judging by this forum, i think some people think Steve Jobs will live forever.

Judging by your calloused response, I think some people don't realize that Steve Jobs is only 56.

If you had a parent, friend, or relative that was 56 and as frail as that picture, would you say "Well it's not like he'd live forever"

Wether you like steve or not he is an extremely smart, influential and insightful man. He should be at the peak of his life as his company is skyrocketing, thanks to his genius. And as he appears to be dying all you can think is, it's not like he'd live forever

If this photo is considered "fake", where is the original photo? The mac enthusiast community would have been able to debunk this pretty swiftly as they have in the past with fake product leaks.

No doubt, this is the beginning of the end for Mr. Jobs. His diminished role at WWDC and the iPad 2 keynote were tell tale signs. Is resignation as CEO and the release date change of his biography point to me that his time is running out. I really hate to be pessimistic about this and wish for the best but the odds are NOT in his favor.

Well, playing devil's advocate, the "real" photo could never have been released online. The person who took it could have done the editing themselves to sell it to TMZ for more money (due to the added shock value). I don't think anyone is claiming that TMZ found a photo of steve jobs and 'shopped it to make him look sick.

No, I didn't mean that you did that. I am just amazed at how others post things without even thinking a bit.
These people should imagine the following: Their father has cancer and someone posts a photo of him...How would that feel? Where is our decency?

i can give you +1 for one dollar each. (only paypal)

it may well be fake but that 'place' is steve jobs driveway...

Really? Can you please give a little more details on that. I have no clue where he lives, address or anything like it. Google street view?

Anyway, it is highly unlikely that he will be on his driveway dressed like that and allowing to be photographed.

I insist, who is the helper?

What evidence is out there to confirm that this is a current photo?
Asuming it is not a fake photo, couldn't it be a photo taken just after the liver transplant?

I would be very glad to see him walking on the stage in October and dismissing this picture, like he has done in the past.

Even a farewell video podcast will be enough.
I hope he can give a series of podcasts before he is gone.

^^^ that is what really stumps me on the pics ... Steve is worth more than 5 Billion dollars and he is standing by the curb with some weirdo who is posing for the picture?

Because once your worth increases above the guy next door you start trashing the world around you. Typical douchebag attitude.

I always admire Steve's simplicity and his friendly and down to earth attitude towards his employees.

There are people who die at the age of 9 months, just saying :p

There is no written rule for when one must die. And when their "peak" should be. That's just personal opinion.

Sorry, but that's not their style. If it actually is PSed, someone else did it and TMZ was fooled and bought the photo from them.

While this could be, I can't quite figure out your loyalty to TMZ. I realize TMZ is pretty accurate with things but haven't they been wrong at least once? TMZ is a gossip rag but they tend to take a little more care in their media and that can certainly be appreciated. TMZ sets a very high bar for sure but to just decide this is real because TMZ posted is silly. To turn and say TMZ may have been fooled just continues to show displaced loyalty. Perhaps they bought the picture in haste and posted it without doing their normal due diligence. If this is right and TMZ broke the news then they'll certainly be regarded for it. I think I too would take the gamble knowing what it would mean for my business.

I think of TMZ like I think of MR. They're conservative and really try to check out all rumors but they've been known to **** up once or twice.

As for this thread, there is a certain level of creep going on. I think I'll make a list of all people involved in the stalkerish nature of Steve Jobs and mind my manners. :p

I totally agree with what I bolded.

I wouldn't call it "loyalty to TMZ". I just happen to know a thing or two about how they do their work, and when people post stuff that just isn't true, I don't think there's anything wrong with me calling them out on it (if I'm around). I'm sure they've made mistakes over the years, and this could very well (and hopefully) be one of them.

Just because TMZ posted it, doesn't automatically mean it's real. However, I would say that since they did post it, there's a very good chance that it is based on what/who I know.:).

^ I understand but from where I've been sitting (left side of the couch most of the day) it all reads a little different. I thought you had mentioned earlier that TMZ would not post it unless it was true. It sounded, or read, a bit more definitive.

I'm hoping it's fake but more so I'm hoping these creepers stop trying to rationalize whether it's fake or not using the stalker theory. ;) :p

The likely scenario has already been explained in this thread much more eloquently than I could do, but I'll restate: it IS as likely as not.

Based on the photo, and speaking from the same personal experience as others sadly share here, he's in a stage where he really doesn't care. He probably just wanted to walk down his driveway. The helper is probably just that-a helper; either an RN or other hospice care worker. The worker does look like he sees the photographer. He's smiling because there's no point in getting upset and upsetting Steve. They don't care! TMZ isn't important! Fans' reactions aren't important! Looking at the sky and walking around for a few minutes IS.

This is the face of last stage cancer. Cancer kills this way, this is very often how people look. Cancer kills by spreading, and that often includes the brain; in addition, levels of things like calcium go wildly out of wack-all kinds of implications, which along with medication and fatigue result in the dying person having a totally different attitude towards things. Even a guy like Steve Jobs.

Perhaps a TMZ apologist then?

Perhaps I didn't express myself properly, or perhaps you misread my posts.:)

Basically, I trust TMZ enough to know that they wouldn't post something they know to be fake, or post something that they PSed themselves to the extent that people are saying. They simply wouldn't do it. Could they have been fooled? Absolutely.

I'm hoping it's fake too.

The photo is real. TMZ simply does not post fake photos. Argue that all you want, it's true.

People don't want to believe it's real because it's so sad, but it is and we shouldn't be entirely surprised. I think personally that Steve's resignation wasn't simply a good timing thing but rather that his condition is getting worse. That's my take on it.

The debunking photo that is floating around is absurd. My thoughts and nightly prayers are with Steve, but this looks really bad. Obviously I wish him nothing but the best.

THANK YOU for this. My mom passed away from cancer and this is exactly how life is for late-stage cancer victims. It's actually hurtful that so many people in this thread have NO IDEA how life changes for cancer victims living their last days. The hospital gown, the lack of shaving, the disheveled hair; if this photo is true, then Steve, his family, and his caretakers just don't care! There is nothing worth getting upset over anymore.

Look, I understand that we all want to disbelieve and cry "fake" if only to hope that Steve is not really sick. Before dealing with a cancer victim and understanding how the body changes I would probably do that, too. But everyone needs to accept that Steve is very, very sick and has a limited time left on this earth.

Speaking from my experience, Steve probably wants nothing more than to enjoy the sunshine, his garden, and his family. He would trade his entire fortune to be healthy again. This stage of hospice care is about mitigating pain, and it's pretty clear that's what's going on.

Cancer: I think folks need to keep in mind that often when one battles and "wins" against cancer, they get it again... Yes the original cancer was a more treatable form of pancreatic cancer. Then he had a liver transplant. And he has not been well for years. He likely has had several battles with cancer over the years.

The thing that stands out for me, which no one else seems to have mentioned, is that the other man is physically holding Steve up/assisting him due to being weak.

Some have said the other man is "posing", which is ridiculous when he's quite clearly simply either looked in that direction as the photo was taken, or has clocked the photographer at the moment the photo was taken.

However, he's quite clearly helping Steve walk, yet no ones mentioned that.

I don't want to believe he's that badly ill, but remember WWDC and how weak and wobbly his voice was, it had never sounded that weak. He also looked off balance at times, and it's all very, very tragic.

I know it comes to us all, as others have reminded us on numerous occasions in this thread, but the Apple community is so unique in that we fell behind Steve and his vision for the future of the company, and as such we do feel a certain affinity for him.

I wish Steve all the very best, but it angers me how rapists, child molesters, murderers, and the like live until their old age with no serious illness yet innovative, great minded, good, decent people are struck down in their prime with evil illnesses like cancer.

Whipple procedure + Liver replaced equals too many important items (read: organs) removed from the body. When will western medicine learn that "slice n dice" virtually never is a remedy for cancer.

I wish I could have convinced Steve of this 7 years ago, but why would he listen to me?

Steve trusted cancer doctors, which was his big mistake.

This post may inflame many, especially adherents to established medicine.
