Now that I have a brick for the time being, that used to be an iPhone, I guess I can get more work done.

Thank god I wasnt expecting a phone call today

I had that same error message at first, then i looked in my internet settings and found out that those things were ALREADY clicked and just reset my internet settings and it seemed to work....now I am timing out like everyone else....

please help!- connect to itunes

i just got my first iphone today. (2nd gen.) i tried to unlock it using ziphone but i bailed out and now my iphone displays the usb cable and itunes icon and says "slide for emergency" in all different languages. please help me. i dont know if i crashed the software on it or itunes is just messing up. i almost broke into tears i was so mad. please help me or give me some advice on how to restore it or something!

I successfully updated to iPhone 2.0, but whenever I connect the phone to my computer iTunes can't contact the iTunes Store and so it won't re-sync, meaning none of the Apps sitting on my computer are syncing across to the phone. Any ideas?

EDIT: This is the error message I get after iTunes tries to connect:

After that, although the iPhone stays in the Devices pane, there is no options, it only says 'iPhone'..

I did somewhat of the same thing. After trying for over an hour to connect to iTunes Store I unplugged my phone to leave my house thinking I would try again later. Now each time I reconnect it scans itunes store and gives me a message that the NETWORK CONNECTION WAS RESET. Im not sure if this error is iTunes or on my end? Anyone know? I have rebooted several times and even went so far as to reload iTunes.

All Day Long

I ran home this morning after work to upgrade my phone. Now I'm going to have to hear how I'm a moron for trying to upgrade today. My husband waited so now i have a brick for a phone since 9:30am and his works just fine! Now that is hell. LOL. At least everyone else is in there own private hell so I'm not alone. Good Luck everyone!

just got the new iphone and im getting that "accessing itunes store" then getting "connection was reset"...im soo pissed...i really expected more from apple on this one!!

im getting the same error on my new iphone so its gotta be the itunes servers

Do you think we could get a credit for anything if we complained that we were losing money by not having access to a cell phone?

Just called AT&T and got a credit. My current opinion of Apple has slipped today :apple:

yea i got a 3 dollar credit woop di doo

That's why I haven't even bothered. I hope either AT&T or Apple steps up and compensates us somehow but I'm not holding my breath. Under other conditions (not a worldwide epidemic) I would usually demand compensation but I don't see either of them actually doing anything other than letting time pass and us forget about it.

I couldn't wait any longer

and had to get to work, so once I saw that my media was copied back over and thus the phone was usable, I went ahead and stopped it from trying to connect to the iTunes Store.

I tried again at lunch and after several timeouts, I finally got connected and now I am syncing again and watching my apps sync over.

Very frustrating, but I encourage everyone to keep trying--you'll eventually get thru.

apple reps re terrible!!!!!

Thank god for time machine!!!!!! i am having the same problems as all you guys so i tried calling apple support at 9:30 eastern time and got through(great right?, nope) when i told her the error message i was getting(9838) she said oh ok you have to delete itunes and reinstall, delete the itunes music folder and the app and reinstall..... I asked,"wait wont that delete all my songs???" she said nope the songs are stored somewhere else bla bla bla..... i said ok and deleted the folders she told me to..... ALL SONGS WERE GONE!!!!!!!!! thank god i convinced the wife that we needed time capsule, whew. idiots at apple customer service

Has anyone from the UK managed to get through at all recently? i am frickin fuming right now, I cannot believe I am without a phone until this is sorted.

Ok, so you all thought this was going to be some smooth operation today? You just MUST have a new iphone (that is a little faster but has realistically not even a new product & has been out for a year) today!! Call out of work, stand in 95 degree heat for hours and hours, some of you in line for days knowing full well you may not even get one, gripe about service knowing it's going to be jammed, etc... What a joke that you can't wait for an electronic device for a few days. All of you deserve every bit of anguish you receive today. LMAO!! Hope you all a great day!!

I didn't see this until it was to late, and got stuck when upgrading my 1st Gen iPhone also. Around 1:15pm EST, I started getting the error connecting to the iTunes store. I kept on trying, and all of a sudden it connected, and is loading my songs an pictures now. I got the "Your phone is activated" message, so I assume I am going to be OK.

My advice: Keep on trying...

This is so lame what are we supposed to do while apple fixes this, I restarted my computer and still am stuck at this "accessing itunes store" step:mad:

Almost working

I finally have my iphone back up and running except now the iPod portion of the phone is empty. I'm afraid to plug it back in for another sync since I've got stuck in emergency phone mode 5 hours ago!
