The biggest question I hear is "How do you do stuff without a right click?"

Apple (well, Steve) should really consider a real two button mouse.

Like the mighty mouse?

I can see why some might find issue with the Mighty Mouse be a 'real two-button mouse'.

Which bakes the question, what is a "real mouse"?

I have two Logitech MX 1000's, and one Wireless Mighty Mouse. Only shortcomings of the Mighty mouse is I like a lot more buttons, and one can't press both main mouse buttons at the same time.

Oh well.

The Mighty Mouse seems 'real' to me - just that its features are different.

I actually got used to control-clicking pretty quickly. I dunno, this has always seemed like a pointless argument to me. although I rarely use it, I have a USB optical mouse with two buttons and a scroll wheel that I got at CompUSA for $10. Problem solved.

I agree. It pretty much is just a talking point anymore. The validity of it is pretty much nil. Of course, it is more valid with a MacBook - but Apple mitigated that one pretty well too with the two-finger click.

After that, it's a matter of preference. Granted, most (like myself) 'grew up' with a right click, those learning with the two finger, could have an even point.

Another one from me. My life is just filled with clueless people, isn't it?:D

I was talking to my dad the other night, and asked why I wanted a mac.

I told him, "becasue they don't get virusis, they have superiour software and are just... better."

He said "really? Well, if you get one, will we be able to email each other? cause I heard Macs have differnt internet."

Me: "Yeah dad, you'll have to get a Mac too to get my internet."

Nothing new about Mac bashers, or dumb windows users. You can try a logical question, such as "when was the last time you used one?", but using such logic is generally a waste of time. But, as a hard-line windows IT type once told me, "Windows pays my mortgage". Dumbest questions I hear from some windows-only users: (no particular order)

-"Where's the start button?"

-"Where's the C drive?"

-"Can you run office? I heard you can't run office."

All classics. If you really want to mess with them, ask them where the B drive is. Odds are, they won't have a clue. (It comes from the original IBM PC's. Had two floppy drives, the second one was B)

Mess with them some more. Most windows users don't know that pressing the windows key, and the letter E together pops open an explorer window. No really, they don't know this simple keyboard shortcut. After you show them this, tell them "you just learned that from a Mac user". Be ready for a classic, Deer-in-headlights look, or a look of disgust.

Still, it must be killing them, with Apple's Market cap (what a company is worth) being about 15 billion higher than Dell's, and the now infamous email from Jim Allchin, saying that he would buy a Mac, if he were not employed at Microsoft. (They are spin controlling this, of course)

Oh, and how about this classic, for when there they have no other response: "Well that doesn't prove anything!". Uh-huh.

When I bought the original iMac, someone ask me why I would by a computer from a company that was going out of business...

????????????????????????????????????????????

Oh yes indeed. That one's in the same category as this: "Doesn't Microsoft own apple?"

I'll agree that there are some Mac users who are just as ignorant about Windows, as some Windows users are about the Mac. But, I have always noticed that a lot of Mac users deal with Windows every day, with little or no difficulty. We do this because a job (my own case) or school requires it. Windows users aren't like this. They get all snarly (for lack of a better word at the moment) when someone suggests they try the Mac, or even Linux.
Why is this?

On the Windows keyboard shortcuts: windows key+E is probably the most handy one. There are some others listed if you search for keyboard shortcuts under help. Don't forget, when you show these to windows hard-liners, casually mention that you're a Mac user. I can't explain it, but it seems to drive them nuts.

Yep. His 50 something year old mom who can't manage the cable tv box reccommended he get a Dell, and he decided to listen to her instead. Not the computer-saavy friend. "Because everyone uses Dell... we use them at work!" was her answer.

People use Dells at work because they are paid salaries to do so. If his mother doesn't pay him a salary to use the computer, he should use a Macintosh.

I've got another statement from a PC user
"microsoft and bill gates invented the internet."

Another classic. That's one's a little scary though. It proves that the longer misinformation is entrenched in peoples' heads, the harder it becomes to root out.

One of the most widely used sites on the internet is Wikipedia. So, don't hesitate to point out to the misinformed that the first actual web server in the world was a Next cube, and that this was done at the CERN laboratory in Switzerland. The link. And, another link.

I used to have A:, B:, C: and D: on my 486 (3.5", 5.25", HDD, CDROM). My IBM JX had A: and B: (two 3.5" floppies). These days with hardly any PC's coming out with floppy drives, soon you'll be able to ask where the "A:" is and they wouldn't have a clue :p.

The winkey+E shortcut is good. I've used that for years including winkey+R (Run window), winkey+D (show desktop), and others. I've only ever seen one other PC user that actually uses them. One that I find really handy is winkey+break. It brings up the System Properties window. Most people right-click on My Computer and then click Properties, or go through the Control Panel. They think I'm a magician when I do it without having to click on stuff. And of course, I remind them I'm a mac user muahahahahaha :D.

Good Job! :D

I have noticed that Mac users tend to use keyboard shortcuts a lot more than windows users. Don't know why that is, but that's the deal. Stangely enough, the windows keyboard shortcuts are in the help system, albeit a little tricky to dig out.

That's what I do. Which key are you referring to when you say "break"?

Man, I've *never* heard of those Windows shortcuts before, even though I can do practically anything on my Mac without a mouse. Is this stuff documented anywhere? Certainly, Windows doesn't tell you in any obvious place. I don't think I blame those PC users for not knowing.

Exactly. I used a PC all my life up until now, and I never heard of any shortcuts....

But then again, I'm only 13.
