I've had some people think the scroll ball was the button, and were confused when their click triggered Dashboard.

I have the scroll ball button as my right click, its a super rapid setup as the mighty mouse has days when its a bit tempramental, so it avoids that, then just setup a hotcorner for dashboard, sorted!!!

One thing I hate is when people go "I'd never know how to use Macs. They're too complicated".

Right with you there, that is a major annoyance when people say that to me. Although sometimes I think its just the fact that they are covering up that they would want to try one but just dont want to change or take "the risk with it" as is unfortunately once of the things percieved about them.

that is also a majoy annoyance for me aswell. its the most annoying thing i think ive ever experienced. my gf was telling me yesterday that when she talked to some chick in her class she didnt buy a mac because:
1 "it was too hard to learn"
2 "it could not run programs that pc's could"
and 3 "its too expensive"

ok so pretty sure its easier to learn than windoze, pfft to programs and gayar to being expensive its like another $200-400...so what?

I usually have to explain that you have to remove pressure from the left button in order to right-click. I've had some people think the scroll ball was the button, and were confused when their click triggered Dashboard.

Oh, yeah. I forgot, he did that too and squeezed the sides and brought up Expose'. It was like teaching a 3 year old...

Thats another annoyance to me people saying they are too expensive. They just don't understand that they really aren't, well what can you do...

Everybody thinks I'm loaded because I have a MBP & iPhone. Its nothing to do with that, its simply just saving your money and not pissing it down the drain which is what many of the people that make these comments do. Their loss!!

So if your computer is that small (mini) isnt it hard to see what your doing?
No because you can plug it into a screen any size you want.
Thats stupid. Why would you want to carry around a screen with your laptop.
WTH are you going on about? Its not a laptop! ITs just like the desktops the teachers have at school
So where is the rest of it?
What?
Thats only the CD drive.

I don't really understand what he is talking about here but this is a convo I had with a kid from school

I don't really want these idiots using a Mac. I think potential buyers should have to fill out an application before being allowed to purchase one. Based on their answers they would either be approved (and welcomed) or rejected (and humiliated). Let 'em prove they're worthy of admission to our exclusive club. Apple doesn't need to be the biggest to be the best -- it never did before, and it sure doesn't need to now. Barack, you're in... George W., sorry about your luck. Angelina & Brad, of course... Billy Gates & Mike Dell, no way, get the hell home! :apple:

Bill Gates sleeps with a Mac.

A few years ago Bill made a public statement that he didn't own any Mac's, he didn't have even one in his house. At which point I started a new thread here, that we should all chip-in a few bucks and BUY HIM ONE! It started with great fanfare but then it fizzled-out and never really took off. I'm sure we could have got Macrumors featured on CNN if we'd gone through with it.... :apple:

That would have been amazing if you had managed it. Bet you he does own a Mac, lying little bugger, he has so so so much money he well definitely has a Mac out of sheer curiosity if anything.

I love when people try to send me viruses over MSN, I sometimes even accept them. They say LOLZ I just sent u a virus u bin hax0rd.

"Macs don't play games"- Many native mac games + bootcamp
"Mac's are expensive"- Better quality, huge resale value- makes them cheaper than PC's in the long run
Mac's can't do Internet Explorer
Mac's wont do my microsoft
macs are for morons
macs cant do my iPod :D

Even if you can run games over boot camp, Macs are still not a good choice for a PC gamer, since the only Mac that is really good for gaming is the Power Mac (the Macbook Pro is alright, but still.. nothing amazing for gaming). Which will cost a lot more than a gaming rig of similar speed.

Anywhere I go with my iPhone lots of people say "Is that the new iTouch?"

When I have my MacBook Pro with me at school, I hear "Is that the thin one?" or "Why does it look all funny" (because they're expecting to see Windows) a lot, if they're not drooling over the glowing Apple on the back or the light up keyboard.

And then I got asked by a few people if my iPhone syncs with my MBP and they were shocked that it did.

(most of the) Average PC users are dumb.

The Mac Mini is a concept that's hard for people to understand. I had my dad buy one for his office, and when we brought it home, it took me about five minutes to describe to my mom what it did. I also see a lot of clueless people at the Apple stores ask what they are. Whenever someone asks me what it is, I usually explain that it's set up like most PC's where you have a display, keyboard, and mouse connected to the computer parts, and the Mac Mini is just that, only mini.

thats like a blog post i read a while ago. Police visited a Dutch man because some illegal activity was traced to his wireless network. but it turned out to be someone stealing his wireless.

they then asked to see his computer which was an iMac G3. they were like "wheres the rest of it?" and he was like "thats it!". then they said something along the lines of "no, wheres the hard drive, thats just the screen" /facepalm.

and to top it off the iMac was like 8 years old!

My severely anti-Mac friend was arguing with me one day using the classic Macs are expensive argument...First thing I dared him to do was find me an equally specced computer that was even a little bit cheaper let alone significantly cheaper. He couldn't do it, so I eventually did it for him (I found one, I think from HP, but it took me a while to find it). So I was trying to talk to him rationally about it, and he was saying that no Mac can run games like Crysis. I was like, uh...a Macbook Pro can, so can an iMac and a Mac Pro...and he goes, "Yeah, but I can build a $700 PC that can run Crysis." as if playing Crysis is the only thing that matters in a computer  It's really frustrating, though, when people just blatantly refuse to acknowledge anything.

that argument of similary specced PC's being cheaper is valid I believe, although this may not be true for the Mac Pro, it is definitly true for the Macbook Pro (Dell XPS 15something) and other computers

But it goes without mention that specs don't make a computer and having Mac OS X, iLife, better software-harware integration,... are all things not mentioned in the specs yet of significant value.

The Mac Mini is a concept that's hard for people to understand.

When my parents got a Mac Mini (to replace my PowerMac 7500 they'd been using for a few years) my mum couldn't believe it. She was astounded by how small and quiet it was. It was quite amusing seeing a huge, chunky desk, that was needed to hold a PM 7500 with a 17" CRT, sitting there with a Mini and a 19" LCD on it.

Well, I only managed to find one that had identical or better specs to my macbook for cheaper, and my friend couldn't find any.

As for the MBP, I've found quite a few, usually around 2-300, but, that's not to say there aren't cheaper out there.

My point was that his argument was because he can build a $700 PC to run Crysis, and a Macbook Pro can also run Crysis, therefore, Macbook Pro = $1300 overpriced.

A friend of mine posted on facebook that his macbook is effed up.. while i posted a reply comment to tell him that I can take a look at it if he wants..I noticed another comment from a girl who says : " hahahhhhahah....that's why I will never buy a mac. Now this is just fricken stupid, and is the kind of stuff I hate. I'd take functionality and aesthetics over neither any day.

Wow. 32 pages. I can't believe I read them all. Most of it was a very good for a laugh! Some people are taking this way too seriously though! ;)

The following is not a stupid thing Win users say but it is annoying and happens far too often where I live.

On three separate occasions while shopping at Futureshop, I happened to over hear conversations between the salesperson and a customer. In all three cases the customer had come in to look at and possibly purchase a new iMac. The sales person the begins to go into great detail why they should NOT buy the iMac. They would be far better off with one of their new Vista machines. On the third time I finally got up the nerve to interrupt the sales person. I explained to the young lady that most of what she had been told was untrue. I asked her what she needed the computer for. Turns out she was a teacher and needed it for report cards. (Here in our school board our reports are done in Filemaker pro). So I said," Well then! You'll be happy to know....:D
Made the sale. I didn't get commission though.:(

Sales people like this really annoy me.
