Ahh, nice to see this thread alive again! Unfortunately, I haven't had any run-ins with PC users worthy of posting, but that could be a good thing.

I was up visiting some relatives in Northern California about a month ago, and one of my aunts was talking about how she got a new HP for work with Vista on it, and how much she didn't like it. I brought up my Mac and she said she heard from her daughter (who just got a Mac) that they're really good. That, and scattered conversations I've had with a few other people about Macs only goes to show that word is getting around about them.

But come on, they still could've said something stupid just to make things a little more interesting! :p

My severely anti-Mac friend was arguing with me one day using the classic Macs are expensive argument...First thing I dared him to do was find me an equally specced computer ....

My windows loving husband gave me such a hard time when i was looking at getting a new mac... He kept saying that they were SO much more expensive then a windows box for what i would be getting. He kept calling me a "mac-*ag"... Until i got my new imac.. a refurb not top of of the line either.... and booted WoW and went to ****.

You see his windows box uses all it's resources just to run windows.... so when he tries to run through **** on his PC - he skips, jumps and has a hard time because of all the effects that are are going on there. Funny, compared to his machine, my "lesser" imac runs WoW like butter. Of course, I don't think Leopard is as much of a memory hog as Vista is?

Now he says he won't use the imac EVER because he doesn't like the mouse, or the fact that the screen is "So big" ... It's 20" - WTF? He's also says that OS X is counter-intuitive and confusing?? But i figure it's not for everyone.. so i'll let him keep his windows... LOL

What I don't get about this is that the Macs are almost invariably higher margin items. That's like a salesperson habitually redirecting people who come in for Marantz and Onkyo to Sony.

These guys are obviously so brain dead that they cant work out that if when working on commission you sell something more expensive they will make more money. If I was working there I would be top salesman no problemo with those idiots running the establishment!!!

Trying to persuade my dad to go mac at the moment (only met him for the first time after 20 years 3 weeks back!!) so gradually etching away at him!!!

AFAIK the margin for a retailer for macs is pretty low, so in fact the temptation is to undersell the mac, flog some higher margin PC to get a bigger bonus, despite having sold a cheaper item.

Well if thats how it works fair comment.

I once got "I prefer Windows because it's free and easy."

Yea windows is really free lol (free from decentness)! Unlike us Mac bunch, when we buy a Mac it comes with nothing on it at all, you have to buy the operating system separately to get started!!! Ha ha ha ha ha :)

Oh yeah, it all comes flat packed, we have to assemble it first.

It's not like we can just take it out of the box and get off right away...

My friend on seeing me typing on my MBP in school: What OS do you have?
Me: Leopard
Friend: Which Leopard do you have?
Me *looking at him weird* There's only ONE Leopard.
Friend: There's 5 versions dude. I checked on Apple.com, it's just like Vista... they have many different versions.

I felt like slapping the guy right then and there.

wow thats a bucket load of crap!

hmm let me see my MacBook Pro Core Duo came with iLife '06, iWork '06 trial, Office 2004 trial, Comic Life and Omni Outliner. i think most Macs now only come with iLife '08 and iWork '08 trial! Only Apple apps... now thats how it should go down… not no Travelocity Gadget and Yahoo Toolbar

The Macbook Air came with virtually nothing on it lol!!! Guessing thats a hard drive space issue. Thing is though any of those trials are just a rubbish bin away, no problem.

Some guys have released a tool called and wait for it: The Decrapifier, yes you heard right The Decrapifier to remove all this stuff. Only on Windows......

Apple once shipped their macs with a lot of stuff---usually about three or four games, Quicken, and a bunch of other stuff, though I'm not sure if they still do.

You get a couple of Sharewares on the mac -

Big Board Games, Office, and iWork.

But to remove you delete them as if you wanted to delete that embarrassing picture of you at the office party.

That can be used to our advantage, though, tell them to press Windows+E a few times, because the Explorer window wont come up streight away, they will kep pressing to see what it does, and when all these explorer windows come up, its very amusing what the user does!

Now that is evil! I like it! :D

Pressing the winkey+M will minimize all open windows to the taskbar. This is actually quite handy. And yes, I do have to dwell in the windows world every day. :( But, my main work machine is a dual G5. :D Winkey+shift+M will restore all the windows to their open positions, but don' t tell "them" this.

So, when they have lots of windows open, have them press winkey+shift+M. All the windows will immediately shut to the taskbar. It's at this golden moment, that you say "Oh No!! Not that one!!" :D:D:D

I thought the Big Board Games was the full version? (It only comes on the 'consumer' machines, not the 'pro' machines, and I haven't bought a consumer machine in a long time.)

Office and iWork; yeah, just the trials.

So if your computer is that small (mini) isnt it hard to see what your doing?
No because you can plug it into a screen any size you want.
Thats stupid. Why would you want to carry around a screen with your laptop.
WTH are you going on about? Its not a laptop! ITs just like the desktops the teachers have at school
So where is the rest of it?
What?
Thats only the CD drive.

I don't really understand what he is talking about here but this is a convo I had with a kid from school

Wow, finally read all 33 pages! When I tell people at work that I have a MBP, they either laugh at me or say, now you can tell us how to use palm desktop and pocket mac for the blackberries. I respond with um... no. Figure it out yourself.

The only trial stuff I got with the iMac (got it December 07 so fairly recent) was M$ Office for Mac, iWork and GarageBand, thats it. Takes just a few minutes to them off, too.
