ok lol tennis are people at your school retarted or what???
thats shocking. i find people in my IT classes a lot more, uummm, informed lol. its quite sad that people are still under the impression that imacs/iphones are crap and are 'useless'.
they need to be more informed. watch the news!
Not that shocked myself. A lot of people, ESPECIALLY teens and young college students with marginal knowledge, see things that way, especially in the tech world. If everyone's using one thing, well, there's probably something better that those people just don't know about.
In some ways that reasoning makes some sense. Many parents buy computer hardware and gadgets based on A) What everyone else is using and B) What looks easiest.
I've seen these people that develop that mentality- they refuse to buy an iPod because "well, my Creative does the same thing, but it also has an FM receiver". No thought given to interface or other intangibles or the fact that the iPod is half the thickness...just the spec sheet. Then they convince their non-technical friends how much better than an iPod it is, and you get a small group of people who think that iPods suck.
I see it on the iPhone too, I've seen people who tell me they heard that the Voyager was better. This is a pretty common story in my area, because Verizon's coverage is FAR better than anyone else and there's a lot of dead spots for AT&T and T-Mobile if you go even ten minutes up north. So people try to excuse not switching to AT&T by insisting that the Verizon phone is better anyway.
A pity that mentality doesn't extend to the Macs- you'd think they'd be willing to try them by virtue of them being
different. But instead you just get the typical fear of change combined with wanting to defend their own purchase of a Windows PC by laughing at how 'inferior' other products are.
